NIGEL DE JONG received the most votes and he is Rossoneri Blog reader’s Player of the 2013/2014 Season.

The new season will start next month (the Serie A calendar will be announced on Monday) and the pre-season of Milan is in full swing as they want to be in top shape for 2014/15 term with the objective being returning to the Champions League.

The 2013/2014 was a bad one for Milan and they finished 8th but some were still good. We’d asked you who was Milan’s best player last year and thousands voted on RossoneriBlog and they selected De Jong as their Player of the Season.

Menez agent: “Jeremy has changed, Milan wanted him most”

Nigel De Jong, 29, was probably the most consistent player last season. With 91.4 per cent of his passes completed this season (via WhoScored.com), De Jong anchored the team from the defensive midfield role. Nigel is still on vacation as he reached the World Cup semi-final with the Netherlands. The Dutchman got the most votes with 56.01 per cent of the votes.

The player that came in 2nd has already left the team and his name is Ricardo Kaka, 31. Ricky returned last September and will spend the next years of his career at the Major League Soccer with Orlando (will play for Sao Paulo until January) and he got 17.03 per cent of the votes. Adel Taarabt, 25, came in third with 10.37 per cent of the votes. Taarabt was good during his loan spell from QPR. He’s waiting for an offer to return to Milan permanently but he doesn’t fit Inzaghi’s desire.

Mario Balotelli, 23, who finished as Milan’s Top Scorer and had his best season in terms of numbers, can in fourth on the poll with 7.83 per cent. Adriano Galliani hinted at a possible Balotelli exit, saying that Balo will stay for 99.9%. Adil Rami, 28, who has been bought out by Milan from Valencia for €3.5m, got 6.93 per cent of  the votes and came in fifth on the poll.

Some people, 1.83% of the voters, voted Other. Some of the answers were other players like Riccardo Montolivo, Stephan El Shaarawy, Mattia De Sciglio while some were random, such as ‘nobody’, Andrea Pirlo, Hachim Mastour & Paolo Maldini.

Its a good result, but i think Balo deserved a better spot on the result list.

I think in the last half of the season Rami plays better and he scored few goals as a defenders.

Lol love the votes for Maldini.

Cowmagnet

I don’t think Kaka deserved to be that high, but he certainly wasn’t one of the bad ones. He’s just a legend, so that skewed things

Milanista121

Think Balo should be third over Taarabt, but that’s my opinion. Ricky in second is fine, and there’s no use in arguing about de jongs position. Undisputedley our best player.

Hasowayne

Most definitely…. No one else comes close… Simply put. De Jong was prolific all season…

Charm

De Jong was d best…he deserves it….buh ryt now, he needs midfielders to complement him…midfielders like one of poli and cristante (in d absence of montolivo) then isco for creativity reasons.
We cud soar higher if we have dejong monty and isco in our midfield buh I know Galliani is somewhere laffin at my dream.

Rossonero since 2002/2003

I think Balo should have been lower Rami. Underperformed for much of last season, disappears in big games & when the team needs him most. Rami meanwhile was very good in majority of the games he played (chipped in with a couple of goals too)

milanisti bali

De jong cover the defensive side, and in other side, we need more creativity..
Honda and Poli isnt good enough for that roles..we need the true no.10 like james ..

HOQ

Obviously NDJ deserves it kudos. Wts uncle Fester doing abt sinking Milan *sobs……..
