ANDREA PIRLO scored a wonder goal to put Milan at the top of Serie A last night, as they beat Parma 1-0 at the Stadio Ennio Tardin.
On a night which Milan could easily have scored 6, it took a moment of magic from the Italian to break the deadlock, and give Milan the 3 points.
In a change from recent starts, Ronaldinho started centrally, behind Ibrahimovic and Robinho in a 4-3-1-2 formation, and it seemed to work as he played much better than in recent games.
Pirlo set to ‘change his style’ for Ibra
Milan to hold talks for Real Madrid winger
Milan started brightly, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic firing low across the face of goal., and this was a sign of things to come.
Parma’s only effort in the first half was a ball in to the box for Crespo, who misjudged it and claimed Alessandro Nesta shoved him in the back – the referee did not agree.
Antonoio Mirante was in fine form for Parma, denying Ibrahimovic twice in the first half (the best of the 2 saves being from close range after the Swede brought down a perfectly executed chip from Ronaldinho)
In the 25th minute, Andrea Pirlo’s moment of magic arrived. From over 35 yards out, Pirlo struck the ball with perfect technique, the show flew with power and accuracy straight in to the top corner of Mirante’s goal – this time, he was powerless to prevent it.
For all of Milan’s pressing, they failed to add another goal. Ibrahimovic was denied three times within seconds, Mirante showing great goalkeeping skills to keep him out, and Robinho (who played well but finished badly) mishit a shot after some great play from Ibrahimovic.
Ronaldinho had a powerful effort tipped over by Mirante in the 63rd minute, the Parma ‘keeper once more showing his skills.
In the last 15 minutes, Parma found a second wind, and started pressing, and although there was a penalty claim, it was once again waved off by the referee.
There was one final chance for Ronaldinho from a difficult angle, but he narrowly fired wide. Despite that, it was a good evening for the Brazilian, who returned to the side after being benched for the Ajax game.
It was a good game for the Rossoneri, and they should easily have scored more, but it’s yet another step in the right direction, and a sign that the team might be beginning to click.
Best Moment: do I really need to say it?
Man of the Match: a toss up between Pirlo and Ibrahimovic.
By Hefin Davies, Rossoneri Blog

only one goal,i think it’s ok since the play was obviously quite good.
Mirante is a messiah for Parma. We can score 5-6 goal, but he always ready to block those shoots. To bad Pato is still not fit. Hope he can gain more fitness after international break and scoring again. Btw, props for Pirlo. That is one of the most beautifull goals i ever seen. Good job lad!
well done milan. a tough match with 5 milan’s players were yellow carded. it seems that 4-3-1-2 worked well for milan. robinho’s movements with/without ball are good. allegri should find the best formula on attacks when pato is ready to play. 1. could robinho play as AM? is he better than ronaldinho to do that role? 2. if ronnie would leave milan next season, it is better to start playing robinho as AM soon. 3. without ronnie, milan could save lots money as ronnie’s wage is very high. 4. another option on attack is : having ibra as AM, behind… Read more »
I feel like were getting better and better every game. We are def not letting counter attacks anymore and are able to keep possession longer during the games. I’d say our team just needs time to jell
@TWF Be happy that Allegri changed the formation and the team played better than before, Firstly lets concentrate on this season , I wonder what kind of TV you watch the game in . Firstly Your assertion of Yellow Cards are off the mark, Ibra got his card for his reaction after the foul which could be avoided, Gattusso was for his late challenge, which was not required maybe his timing wasnt good. Antonini lost control and obstructed the opponent, On his day he wouldnt have got a card . and for what reason I dont know why you hate… Read more »
@Ronnie2009 THe key in your paragraph is “LAST SEASON” This season, Dinho has been not so good except for two games. He needs to track back. Dinho is the reason why our midfield is not good. He just doesn’t help them out in defense, so the only thing the mids can concentrate on is defending the counter attacks. Dinho is a big exposed hole. He doesn’t move at all in attack either, only standing on the wing waiting for the pass. And when he gets it, he doesn’t dribble and just crosses it early, which will sometimes lead to a… Read more »
A well played match, Nice to see Pirlo opted his game(nott jus because of his goal, he played better then has been so far this Seaon) The only one I think dosent fit in to this formation is Seedorf, He played to slow and paused the counter attack to much. While Gattuso did a decent job. Ronaldinho was far the best with nice passing skills who should have made goals and he run his ass off for most of the match, thats why u saw the last 5 min he was tired. Ibrahimovic together with ronaldinho was the best, he… Read more »
@ ronnie2009 : seems that your mouth runs faster than your brain. please read, understand and think carefully before you post comments. i noticed that some fans here have already been annoyed because of your comments to them on other topics. you would have social life problems if you cannot respect others. don’t wait until somebody loaded bunch of stinky socks to your mouth, dude. i suggest you to have instrospection. also, i suggest you to check other websites and find out that ronaldino was linked to move to USA or Kuwait in Jan 2011. that’s why i suggest to… Read more »
hey guys it’s okay just cool man…. we all the same purpose here, we all want to see Milan even better and lift a throphy for last season, so don’t get angry with the comment and show respect to the same mlanisti we’re must be having something about formation or anything like play role for the player, and some or even any of you write about what you want to say in this respone post. so just oke if we have some disagreement from others post, but this is not the place for fight, just debate with cool & smart… Read more »
i think milan is finally starting 2play champagne ftbal.kip it up.forza milan
TWF, Ronnie2009, kbw,
cool brothers…we all want milan to win,
but definately the midfield, strasser, and other young star should be played.
I am convinced that Milan’s attack will gel soon and start scoring at will. Robinho and Ronaldinho just need to get a goal and the flood gates will open. My concern still however, is our midfield and it was great to see a goal coming from it. But those guys are ageing and cannot give 100% everygame as they did in 2007 when we won the CL. In my opinion Gattuso should not start. Even though he played well recently, he gives the team nothing going forward. Boateng or Flamini are better options, even if Rino comes on during the… Read more »
Yo TWF kbw Even before the start of the LAST SEASON , many clubs wanted Dinho, even Mancity wanted him badly. What I am trying to prove to you guys is that when Milan was sinking ,every fan was crying for Dinho to stay with Milan and how great Leo was in transforming Milan , all of a sudden Milan have a couple of names like Ibra and Robinho with a new unproven coach, from nowhere TWF goes to a website suddenly to check that Dinho is wanted in UAE & USA . Your point is its ok for him… Read more »
I thought a nice solid win for us would unite us more :p anyway calm down guys theres no point contemplating who will stay or leave milan in January, because most of the times we would be wrong only uncle fester, the coach and the player involved would know. Personally I don’t think Ronaldinho should leave Milan as he has more support now from Ibra, Robinho, Pato, Boateng, Pirlo, seedorf and Inzaghi. Last year when he was playing awesome you could see he was frustrated a lot of times because of the lack of quality support. Anyway we will find… Read more »
Fellow Milan fans ,this guy TWF is a clown he is no real Milan fan, he is just annoying the real ones, Check one of his posts in a blog on Pato;s return
TWF says:
September 30, 2010
rather than expecting on pato’s return, i would expect more on the absence of pirlo…haha.
pirlo is maybe one of the laziest DM at the moment.
i want to see rodney strasser to play as DM.
interesting to see whether allegri has guts to try either montelongo/merkel/odu for the match against parma.
I’m suggest, as a fans, we just be patience and don’t think to much about what formation Allegri must use, who’s players he must choose, who must leave, etc etc etc. Cause…it will make you dizzy, confused, angry, and any negative feeling that not match u’r expectation / prediction. Just try to relax and enjoy the show. That what’s more important right?. As long as Milan win than we, as Milan fans, must happy right? Don’t u all agree with me? if yes, just say Forza Milan in your next post. If not…than just say…Forza Inter? hehehe. Chill out guys… Read more »
This is 2 straight games antonini has been horrible in january milan needs a lb ,rb ,am ,cb and decent cover for ibra . Out : onyewu, bonera, jankuloski, oddo, odu (loan). In : criscito, lichtsteiner ,lazzari/poli/ganso/kagawa, jan vertonghen and matri
Forza Milan for sure.
The team is finally finding the consistency and the fluency it needs, that’s a good step towards the Barca style football that Galliani so wants!
I think a big problem has been the scheduling of the matches so close to each other and injuries, it limits tactical exercises, but now hopefully with the international break coming up, we’ll have some time to bolster the team in that department.
@Ronnie2009 Messi does track back….and he actually dribbles on the ball as well. Ronaldo SOMETIMES tracks back. But he dribbles and runs up the field as well. Torres is no second striker, his job is to get the ball in the net. THe problem with Dinho is that he leaves a big gap in defense AND attack. His static movement costs us a lot in making plays, but sometimes it leads to goals. His static movement makes him seem like he plays Pato’s role but he doesn’t. Dinho is supposed to help out in midfield and then dribble up and… Read more »
it was a good match. The team seems to be getting better. Amazing Goal from Pirlo, he still has it. Ibra played well except Mirante made it a nightmare for Ibra. Pato will get better soon and will be back in form. Binho needs more time. He is getting better but needs more time. hope he does because Huntelaar did not get the chances Binho gets now. I think Binho will recover his form, just have to wait a little longer. Come on Dinho is very helpful. Sure he loses the ball easily, but at times he is the one… Read more »
It s so nice to see all these guys writing their opinions, it would be really great to see us all together in one of the match. Last season I was at Inter-Milan(2-0) with my brother nerazzuro, and I was standing there alone surrounded by 2000 Inter fans, supporting my team al the time, and by that I mean don t give a fuck for 2000 scumbags! (except my bro)
@ Milanistsa 5 games into the season out of which he was brilliant in 2 did ok in the next 2, one against Cesena was bad, not his fault entire team played bad, Ibra missed a penalty.God knows what gattusso was doing.everybody goes through their bad patches. The first year Dinho was in Milan Ancelotti did not use him. Second year LEO gets a chance and transforms Dinho that co incides with WC , he played the way he does, now my dear friend before the start of the season before Ibra could come to Milan .everyone heard Allegri say that… Read more »
And that is why I’d rather have ROnnie as the 1 in the 4-3-1-2 system. Dinho has changed his game drastically ever since Barca. Sure his balls are deadly from the wing..but that makes the play way too static if he is the playmaker. That is like asking Beckham to be a playmaker. At least Becks tracked back, Dinho is just way too static. I wouldn’t have a problem with him if he moved more, and all that losing weight is bullshit. He moved more last season than he did now, with the exception of the opening game. I’m not… Read more »
I liked the change in formation. It is a more disciplined setup , 4-3-1-2, and better defends the coutner attack. We look way too open in a 4-3-3 system.
Ronaldinho did have several fine moments playing as the “1” , but ultimately I would work KPB into that positon. KPB is damn-near just as good a playmaker as Ronaldinho, but much stronger physically, better attacking movement, bigger & stronger in the box.
If we can get the “3” to defend and tackle very well this could be a very dangerous team.
Unfortunately I watched Milan play Parma and also saw Ibra miss sitters , one on one thrice , Robinho twice and Gattusso was falling all over the place with none touching him , Pirlo overwhelmed the viewers with his dazzling screamer. Seedorf was losing possession and laughing about it too. Antonini tried a Gattusso style play and got injured . Milan was so poor that we had to move Zambrotta to the left and Abate go to the right, as i saw the game I realised one thing , If Ibra and Robinho were to score on Dinho’s assists in… Read more »
