Zlatan Ibrahimović played from the start in Milan’s 9-0 win today.

The Rossoneri returned to training this week after the Christmas break as they are preparing for the game on Monday against Sampdoria (15:00 CET kickoff).

Today, the boys of Stefano Pioli took on region side Rhodense Calcio for a training match at Milanello.

Zvonimir Boban, Frederic Massara and Paolo Maldini watched from the sidelines, as Pioli played new signing Zlatan Ibrahimović from the start.

The Big Swede began as the lone striker in a 4-3-3, with Suso and Hakan Çalhanoğlu on his sides. The first two goals were scored by Davide Calabria, before the right-back assisted one for Zlatan, who scored an easy tap-in. Ibra then made an assist for Hakan, while Lucas Paquetá scored too.

In the second half Pioli changed the entire team, using an attack of Samu Castillejo, Krzysztof Piątek and Rafael Leão. The three of them all got on the scoresheet, with Piątek scoring twice. Milan won the game 9-0, and you can watch the highlights below.

Fabio Borini and Ricardo Rodriguez were excluded from the game, presumably due to mercato reasons, while according to Milannews.it Biglia and Ante Rebić did not play due to muscular issues.

Goals: Calabria (x2), Ibrahimović, Çalhanoğlu, Paquetá, Leão, Piątek (x2), Castillejo.

Milan first half XI: Gianluigi Donnarumma; Davide Calabria, Mateo Musacchio, Alessio Romagnoli, Theo Hernández; Lucas Paquetá, Ismaël Bennacer, Giacomo Bonaventura; Suso, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Hakan Çalhanoğlu.

Milan second half XI: Pepe Reina; Andrea Conti, Matteo Gabbia, Mattia Caldara, Riccardo Oddi; Franck Kessié, Marco Brescianini, Daniel Maldini; Samu Castillejo, Krzysztof Piątek, Rafael Leão.

Still using 433 formation I see. Interesting!

with hakan and suso… what a dumb coach…

nick

Exactly. I don’t get it with our coaches and what they are doing. We also have Laxalt who is a good winger and can be a good sub for Theo if we switch to 352, 343 or 3412. Calabria and Conti are good wingers. All the players we have currently are better in a back 3 and as wingers. Rebić and Leao have the right skills to play in a front 3 than Calhanoglu and Suso. Calhanoglu must play as a number 10 in a 3412 formation if we “must” use him even though I prefer Bonaventura behind the 2… Read more »

“ Calabria and Conti are good wingers.” i think the word ur looking for is “wingbacks” not “wingers” mate

nick

Wing backs? They can’t defend to save their lives. They are only good if playing in a 343, 352 or 3412.

Milan10

maldini, thuram, gary neville were fullbacks in 4-4-2 formation. candela, cafu, lizarazu, conti were wingbacks in 3-4-1-2/3-5-2 formations. ribery, robben, figo, martial were/is wingers in 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 formations.
there are no wingers in 3-5-2 formations mate

My comment was just sarcasm if you didn’t get it. Been a Milan fan since ‘88 so I know what wingbacks are.

Milan10

ok mate, if u say so. its clear then, theo and conti should play as wb

Ibra

Ibra

I have never liked pioli and I never will…he’s the worst and dumbest coach ever I know…suso and hakan again??..the formation 433 doesn’t suit the players…at least play piatek and ibra or leao and ibra together wit 3 backline…
