Essien close to Milan, Nocerino set for West Ham

MICAHEL ESSIEN has reportedly agreed personal terms with Milan while Antonio Nocerino is set to leave on loan.

With Riccardo Montolivo and Sulley Muntari suspended for the Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid and Clarence Seedorf switching to the 4-2-3-1 formation, Milan are in need for a defensive midfielder and they seem to have their man.

Michael Essien made less than 10 appearances for Jose Mourinho’s side this season but it appears that Adriano Galliani and Seedorf believe he can reinforce the team and the agents of the player had a meeting with the Rossoneri on Thursday.

According to Sky Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport, the two sides have reached complete understanding and all that’s lacking now is the all clear from Chelsea. It’s still not clear whether the deal will be on the basis of a loan with option to buy or an outright purchase this January. If it’s a loan then Chelsea are expected to pay 50% of Essien’s wages (€5m a year).

Essien didn’t take part in the European competitions with Chelsea this term so he will be able to play in the Champions League. One comes in and one comes out and Antonio Nocerino is all set to join West Ham United on loan until the end of the season. The English club confirmed their interest and Sky & Gazzetta are both reporting that he’s agreed to move and he’ll be in London tomorrow to have the medical check-ups and then the 28-year-old midfielder will sign the contract.

Milan were also linked with Gabriel Paletta of Parma but his agent stated that there is no truth in the rumours and the 27-year-old Argentine center back will stay at the club. Meanwhile the Milan Channel has reacted to rumours about Philippe Mexes and stated that there is absolutely no chance that the Frenchman will be leaving the red and black giants this month.

According to Gazzetta’s expert Carlo Laudisa, Milan and Napoli had an agreement regarding a loan exchange between Kevin Constant and Pablo Armero but the Milan player rejected the move. The Milan mercato has pretty much stated today.

We had bettet not raise our hope anymore cos Milan is dead! Nobody can even see that we don’t have wingers that can make the new system work. Even Niang and Ses can play in that position than anyone currently playing there now.
