Essien close to Milan, Nocerino set for West Ham

72

MICAHEL ESSIEN has reportedly agreed personal terms with Milan while Antonio Nocerino is set to leave on loan.

With Riccardo Montolivo and Sulley Muntari suspended for the Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid and Clarence Seedorf switching to the 4-2-3-1 formation, Milan are in need for a defensive midfielder and they seem to have their man.

Michael Essien made less than 10 appearances for Jose Mourinho’s side this season but it appears that Adriano Galliani and Seedorf believe he can reinforce the team and the agents of the player had a meeting with the Rossoneri on Thursday.

Kaka: “We are really disappointed, Milan will keep working”
Milan suffer more injuries, flu attacks

According to Sky Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport, the two sides have reached complete understanding and all that’s lacking now is the all clear from Chelsea. It’s still not clear whether the deal will be on the basis of a loan with option to buy or an outright purchase this January. If it’s a loan then Chelsea are expected to pay 50% of Essien’s wages (€5m a year).

Essien didn’t take part in the European competitions with Chelsea this term so he will be able to play in the Champions League. One comes in and one comes out and Antonio Nocerino is all set to join West Ham United on loan until the end of the season. The English club confirmed their interest and Sky & Gazzetta are both reporting that he’s agreed to move and he’ll be in London tomorrow to have the medical check-ups and then the 28-year-old midfielder will sign the contract.

Milan were also linked with Gabriel Paletta of Parma but his agent stated that there is no truth in the rumours and the 27-year-old Argentine center back will stay at the club. Meanwhile the Milan Channel has reacted to rumours about Philippe Mexes and stated that there is absolutely no chance that the Frenchman will be leaving the red and black giants this month.

According to Gazzetta’s expert Carlo Laudisa, Milan and Napoli had an agreement regarding a loan exchange between Kevin Constant and Pablo Armero but the Milan player rejected the move. The Milan mercato has pretty much stated today.

Zaccardo?
Is he leaving on loan or buy-out?

crespo13

foolish costant….stayon the bench now

TrollAllegri

he will still get lots of cash by just sitting on the bench… so he dont care, but we milan fans do! AHHHHHH

kwabena Adu

This is what happens if you buy garbage players, they will never leave even if you put them on the bench, this just reminds me of Masbah we had to bench him for 2years before he finally decided to leave.
Barbera Berlusconi should convince his father to get more involve with the club,we need money to buy quality players, also Galliani must be replaced with someone who understand modern football.

TheChenko

I would trade Constant for Armero in an instant. Disappointing.

gaushow

I would trade constant for a bag of magic beans

Milanista121

I would trade him for a bag of beans. No that’s just cold, but man, you can’t blame him for not wanting to leave, he’s probably getting paid more with us. The way we keep paying mediocre players too much who are lucky to even be on our bench tbh…

gaushow

sure… if i were him i definitely wouldn’t want to leave..

the mistake was buying him, and so many others

Milanista121

Exactly… it seems like it’s a never ending cycle of mediocre panic buys…

jibola

Galliani getting active in the market after our only hope of qualifying for Europe slipped. Its always a case of treatment after desease for Milan with some senseless fire brigade approach. Galliani will never learn and really his time is up.

milano

i dont know why constant had to say no. would have been a great swap. you fans keep saying no to essien and all that but really he is a great player and is a champion, sure a few injuries have slowed his career but dont let it slip that he can be great in the defensive midfield role and he can also slot in as a centre back. would you guys rather see muntari sub into a game? essien is a good loan. i think milan this january more then anything should completely sell mexes as hes a waste… Read more »

Hasowayne

Hmmmm.. Are you sure? Essien that I know.. Hmm, I won’t say anything else until he comes and you see him play with your very eyes..Even Ghanaians know that Essien is way past it, he doesn’t even get called up for the National team anymore… Wait did they even say he ESSIEN is 28/31? That guy’s older than me by far.. I’ll say 35/36.

dejan10

He’s 32 I think.

Aminu Yusuf

Yes we need to reduce the squad size. Essien is an improvement on Nocetino and will be suited for 4-2-3-1. I expect Zaccardo, Constant, Muntari and Birsa to follow too. We need to clear out.

alan

Damn you Cosntant, Armero is a great LB who actually tracks back… Good news, Mexes almost signed an agreement to Trapabanzor(how ever you spell it)may be done in a few days. Yah! Noccerino and Zaccardo are going to leave (rumors):) Bad news, Essien is coming.

Paletta is a quality CB, should get him, he is under-rated. Bocchetti is good and so is Doria.

EllO

MILAn need to buy very good players or we are ended up

Rossoneri4life

AC Milan now have an agreement with Essien, and in addition we should get new goalkeeper, new leftback and new centerback. So we need to get players that can play in UCL. So get Rene Adler, Fabio Coentrao on loan and get Vital Dede or Matheus Dória.

nick

Essien? This must be a joke! As for Constnt, why would he want to leave? We shoud have never bought him in the first place! Galliani is bringing this club down with a vengance. Milan will find it very difficult to offload players like Constant, Muntari, Mexes, Urby, Birsa and Robinho! Thats what happens when you buy garbage. Nobody wants to buy it when you are willing to sell. Only Milan makes these stupid decisions. We will have the same issue with Essien if we buy him-it will be difficult to offload him. Galliani is a really out of touch… Read more »

Marijo

Santon and Doria might be useful…

Sherbini

This unacceptable enough with these players ! Milan should get maldini even if berlusconi won’t give him money he will get us better and great players from the primavera instead of these average players of galliani!

Alvo96

I still dont get why we dont just buy FERNANDO!!! Dont get me wrong Essien is a solid player but he’s over 30 and lacks everything Fernando has. I just want Milan to wake up and buy exciting young players to make our squad great again.

Players that fit in the new system such as Fernando, Vadillo, Digne, and Perin ( Maybe even Dede)

Balotelli
El Shaarawy- Kaka/Honda- Vadillo/Honda
Fernando- Montolivo
Digne- Rami- Mexes/Dede- Abate/De Sciglio
Perin

I know that this is possible and I really hope something like this happens #forzamilan

Juninho

Milan always doing amazing transfer windows.

We hit the bottom of the pit.

Hasowayne

LOL

Sherbini

Fernando, essien, muntari, de jong. We only need 2 of them as subs for poli cristante and montolivo. We need creative players ! Enough with these useless free defensive midfielders!

Sherbini

I hate any football transfer market!

Joe Argani

Why Essien? Maybe they hope to get Essien with free from Chelsea.

Mexes, Constant, Muntari and Birsa have to go without loan as well as Nocerino and Zaccardo in this January.

Replace them with Dede or Doria, Santon, Fernando & Maher. Milan have lost Nainggolan & Jorginho.

Why they don’t want to invest with big money? If they bring mediocre players in with free agent or low price, they also face difficulties in ruling them out to the market.

Milan have to invest!!

Rimp

it could look like this

————–Abbiati—————

Abate—–Rami—–Mexes—DeSciglio

———Dejong—Essien————

Honda———Kaka——–ElSharaawy

———–Balotelli—————-

Hasowayne

Wow, seems you’re so optimistic about the Essien move.. Mahn, Galliani has turned this club completely around in the very wrong direction to the extent that some fans are okay with any signing at all.. Too bad…!

RKaY

Anyone else hear we were interested in Alvaro vadillo, a winger from real betis?

Hasowayne

“This team needs to change,There are too many lazy players.I think Galliani is already working on that.”- Costacurta

Yashas

I see a lot of possible transfer names thrown in. Like Doria, Maher, Perin, Fernando, etc. But lets face the facts. Galliani continues to go after free transfers and loan deals for washed out or average players. I demand a change in this attitude. The quality of football, milan plays now is not even 20% as good as the Ancelotti era. Take a freaking bank loan and buy some quality players.

Milan as a club has to potential to pay off multi-million dollor loans over a few seasons. There is seriously some mis-management happening at Milan in terms of finances.

Milan fan

Galliani,ruining Milan since 2008.

Sevchenko Arafat

what about ibra and thiago

Ted

Loan, free, co-own, loan, free, co-own… I’m sick and tired of this

Blanka

B&G should just sell the Club to some worthy investors who are ready to spend o quality. isn’t it obvious that our owner are contempt with their achievement in football? they do want to win no doubt but they don’t wanna spend any more… Milan is now a mediocre team with soo many average and lazy players.. smh. a change in management is what can really turn us around.. FORZA MILAN!

Sherbini

I agree!

gt433

hopefully,
constant out- armero in
nocerino out – essien in
(summer)essien out- fernando in
birsa, muntari out – good winger or add to defender fund
zaccardo, mexes, silvestre out – toloi/doria in
amelia out – perin/krul in

Opinion Varies

This is unbelievable insane. Why go for a 30yr old something defensive midfielder and not allow Poli/Crisante play the first leg?

Another panic purchase by Milan like every transfer season in the past 2 years.Anyways,my only major concern, did Seedorf approved of that? lol

Milanista121

Exactly! This frustrates me so freaking much!
There goes our policy counting on youth…we’re probably going to keep him after the season as well.

RedNBlack

There most annoying thing about our transfers is that most of very good young players we are linked with are affordable, they cost less than 10m yet we go for players like Essien, we suppose to be building and you wouldn’t put Essien in the same line with building. He has been one of my fav players but lately he just average.

There are 18 games left, if we can win 15 and draw one we will qualify for champions league. It’s not impossible.

Juninho

Milan can not win two games in a row and you speak 15?

Uhahahahhaa you’re delusional.

Familanhtg

I tought if the condition like this until end off season we will end up in serie B. Then borlusconi sell the club, the new owner choose the coach tassoti or inzaghi. So we can trust young sector and get player like maldini, costacurta, baresi n tassoti.after that milan can be won and succes again like a past. I hate this way if going be reallty. Bcause need time and patient. I hope not gone happen. Bcause ugly and bad management the true milan have destroy

dejan10

Essien’s a fantastic buy! Great player, strong, great reader of the game! Well done Galliani! Oh wait… it’s not 2008…

hey

essien? galliani is very stupied. please out galliani. we need capable director.

sherbini

This is really unacceptable! essien is a player that should play in genoa or any other club! Any Milan fan should not acccept these kinds of useless low level transfers! No to fernando! No to essien! Sack galliani and get MALDINI! At least we get players from our primavera instead of these horrible players!

sherbini

I hope mourinho will reject the deal!

TAY

Akinfeev/Perin/Krul
Doria/Toloi/N’Koulou
Coentrao/Santon/Criscito
M’Vila/Fernando/Kondogbia
Yarmolenko/Cerci/Biabiany

One name from each of the five categories would make any formation work well for Milan.

Wait and see Milan go to sign: Agazzi, Kaboul, Antonelli, Essien, Menez. All for Free.

GeneralGattuso

Milan has just one problem, which is money. On till Berlusconi decide’s to spend we should aspect more mediocre player’s

Luke

Great, now we will have two Muntaris on the team – why can’t Milan go after players everyone wants? Why we always go after cheap players that other teams do not want? We are screwed!

Alex The Mauler (SWE)

id rather have essien than nocerino but we need more signings we need CB like eder Balanta or Bocchetti and Criscito as LB

Luke

Bringing Essien in means less playing time for Cristante so this is not a good move at all.

Sherbini

We don’t need essien! We need to play cristante!!!

alluallu

What happened to the youth project?? We will never make it with this low cost signings. Our only hope is Barbara. Here is a list of young football players with potential for the future: 1. Ali Adnan, Rizespor, 19 2. David Alaba, Bayern Monaco, 21 3. Zakaria Bakkali, PSV, 17 4. Saido Berahino, West Bromwich, 20 5. Domenico Berardi. Sassuolo (loan from Juve), 19 6. Bernard, Shakhtar Donetsk, 21 7. Bruma, Galatasaray, 19 8. Ross Barkley, Everton, 19 9. Emre Can, Bayer Leverkusen, 19 10. Joel Campbell, Arsenal (loan from Olympiakos), 21 11. Tom Carroll, Tottenham, 21 12. Federico Cartabia,… Read more »

Luke

I heard Galliani was scared that our team was getting too young so he had to bring the age up a little.

Sanoske

His better than muntari

Luke

He was better when he was 25 years old.

Kuchini

I laugh!!

When i was still an active member of this blog and the Allegri-hate-agenda fever was gathering speed, i always asked:

1) Who sacked Leonardo after one season in charge, when it was clear that his team needed reinforcements and that he needed more time before passing judgement on his coaching skills!?
2) Who hired Allegri. Whom we all knew was more of a Capello than a lover of Jogo Bonito!!?
3) Who gave him a team of rejects that doesn’t seem to fit any formation!?

Sherbini

Essien to milan is a done deal! Shit!!!

Kuchini

Now we have played two matches against real opponents without Allegri and there is still that air of hopelessness!

Wasn’t the new coach supposed to rely on youth!??
Wasn’t galliani to start buying the likes of Gotze, Mata, Dede, etc, as soon as the new coach arrived!?
Wasn’t Berlusconi to start pumping funds into the team as soon as he appointed his anointed!!?

So why are we still being linked to everyone in the market but only seem interested in Essien!?

Sherbini

I am only supporting the club, but the majority of the players are not worth our support including essien!

Ouch!

Personally I feel signing a player like Essien who is a quality experienced player imo that is CL eligible coming in for free cannot be considered a bad move especially when Nocerino and potentially Muntari are heading out.
Essien>>>>Muntari+Nocerino

Milan fan

Yeah, but the problem is Muntari is not leaving ;) And Cristante our own white Italian will suffer the consequences. Milan became a gipsy club.

Jamal

This is making me mad now.. Essien really? At a certain moment this is gonna backfire Milan because he will not preform good enough. This is what I think Milan should do, sell all the bad and money eating players(wages). Then put all the money in a jar to save for next season. If we are men short the take them out of the youth, Seedorf made his debut on 16 so he should be able to guide the youth players. We have to fight relegation, lets be honest we won’t be able to win anything any more. If we… Read more »

kuchini

WAIT!!!! I thought the muntari’s in our midfield was all Allegri’s idea!? Is he still dictating who galliani buys even after he has been sacked!!! Aren’t we supposed to be going after Modric, Hazard, Vidal, etc!!!??? O boy! i pity seedorf. He has no idea what he has gotten himself into. Now he wants to play four out n out offensive players just like leonardo. We all know how dat ends, right!??? If he insists on playing d 4-2-3-1 with this same crop of players, it wud be much worse than allegri. We have no real wingers and no real… Read more »

seedorf has been there for only 2 games.. lets wait a little more before entering panic

malik Kadir

Galliani you are stupid simple ,why essien and not giving cristante his chance ,Barbara why letting this old stupid fool sign poor players for your future property ,

Rosso

You guys don’t like anything and are in dream land..who do you expect milan to buy in January for midfield? Essen is a good buy in that position, don’t think he’s washed up..if milan are to spend any money in January it should be on a cb..stop complaining about essien unless you would rather have muntari play

billyf5

the first serious man here… Essien is not bad… wake up all and support team! Now money for cb… something tell me astori is already on milan!

Milanista121

Why are we settling for players who “are not that bad” aren’t we MILAN? Aren’t we supposed to go after WORLD CLASS PLAYERS or TALENT? Have the standards of the fans really sunk this low? Essien will only take playing time from Poli and Cristante. He is better than Nocerino, but it’s not something to write on your resumé to be honest. Anyhow, seems as if he’s signed a contract with us until 2015. He earned 5 million before, and halved his salary so he’ll be getting 2.5 million euros. I can only wish him the best of luck even… Read more »

I disagree for essien, but i accept that. We lose in coppa, so i think Seedorf will try to do something in UCL. Without Honda, maybe we must change to 4321 in UCL, so Essien will be needed at least for this season. It maybe hard but nothing is impossible, hope we can win the UCL title, cos that the one way to go to UCL next season. Try hard Seedorf, FORZA MILAN..!!!
