FRANCO BARESI has given his views about Milan’s upcoming games with PSV, the defense and Milan’s mercato.
Milan won the Champions League in this millennium in 2003 and 2007 and both times the Rossoneri had to qualify to the group stage through the playoff stage. Milan are set to return to this stage and they will face PSV Eindhoven there.
Milan have a difficult task in their hands but the Rossoneri legend Franco Baresi believes Milan have something extra that PSV don’t: experience, and it could prove to be very important in the legs, which will take place on August 20 and August 28.

“Should Milan worry about PSV? It’s a young and fast team that among others has already played the first game of the Eredivise, therefore they’re ahead of Milan in terms of preparation. The Dutch side has sold many big players like Mertens, Strootman and Lens, without forgetting Mark Van Bommel who has hung up his boots,” Baresi told Itasportpress.it on Friday.
“PSV have lost a lot in terms of overall quality, even if they’ve just signed Park Ji-Sung, who was with them in 2005 and has scored goals against Milan before. Milan should not be afraid of PSV but of course you should never underestimate anyone. What is the key to winning the playoffs? Surely the key is experience and Milan have enough experience they can sell it. PSV have young, quick and interesting players but they are inexperienced and can therefore be predictable.
“Milan’s defense? The goals that were conceded against Manchester City and Chelsea shouldn’t be an alarm bell. Milan played with players from the Primavera and the starters were out for one reason or another. In any case, I’ve seen a few videos of Milan in the American tour and I must say that I saw a dedicated team that is in shape. Matias Silvestre? I think he’s a player who can make a fine contribution. Silvestre, Mexes, Zapata, Zaccardo, Bonera and Vergara are all ‘da Milan’.
“The market? Milan is a club that doesn’t leave anything to chance. They always look to the future and it must be said that Adem Ljajic is a guy who was born in 1991 and has great quality and Milan are doing well to follow him. If Galliani manages to sign him the attack will be set for many years to come.” The current average age of the attack (six players) is 22.6 years.
Baresi, who spent 20 years wearing the red & black shirt (excluding the years with the youth department), knows a thing or two about the Champions League and European football: The best #6 in Milan’s history won the cup three times.

Franco, be honest. Our defense is to weak to really compete. We are strong in attack, decent in midfield but weak in defense. we need at least two Baresis to compete.
I fear Memphis and Bakkali of PSV who play left and right attack and will seriously be a constant treath to our defense.
Milan is better but PSV is a top level team with young, fast and technical players. Bakkali is 17 but he is already a nightmare for every left back

we ll probably play with 3 strikers but we don t have subs for them look at balo (pazzini is injured and petagna is still too young with no exp not the mention wingers ok kinglsley boateng is good but jet young and no exp and KPB is totally out of form our worst player on pre-season) there so we need one more quality winger like ljajic who can play now and has exp plus niang is too young only 18 he cant play whole season.And side to that im praying every night for montolivo not to be injured he… Read more »

If abate and de Sciglio are fit for this encounter we will be fine. I will be worried if we have to play with Zaccardo or Antonini at right back. they woll get burned. I do not think they are horrible they are decent backups. Abate and de scigs are just remarkably better
