FILIPPO GALLI hopes to see Milan in the CL and says it won’t be use for the youth players to make it to the 1st team.
Milan are no longer the spending force they once were and the target now is to bring up talents from the youth sector and Milan, in recent years, have been doing a lot in this department and a few players have made the jump in the last seasons.
Mattia De Sciglio is the most successful example as he grew in Milan’s youth academy and is now a regular for both Milan and the Italian team. Filippo Inzaghi’s Primavera started training yesterday and the next De Sciglio can come from there.
Galliani: “No Honda news from Moscow”
Milan: “Constant should not have left the pitch”
“We are about to start our preparations for the season, which will be a difficult season and we have to face three important competitions, the league, the Italian Cup and the Viareggio tournament. We hope also to take part in the Champions League if the first team manages to qualify,” Milan youth director and former Diavolo player, Filippo Galli told Milan’s site.
“We have a numerous squad but for the players born in ’96 and ’97 it will be a year of learning for them. The group is led by Filippo Inzaghi and his coaching staff. We have everything needed to do well, but we’ll see what we can do only on the pitch. Making it as far as the Primavera is already a milestone for these players, but it should not be only an arrival for them, but also a point of departure. There are plenty of talented players, like Petagna, Cristante, Kingsley Boateng and Piccinocchi.

“There is also De Sciglio, who has affirmed his ability both at Milan and at the international level with Italy, and this is the path that the players in the Primavera should have in mind. It won’t be easy to make it to the Milan first team, we’ll aid the players in their growth and they must understand that first and foremost it is important to grow as people, then they can think about becoming football players. The club is investing heavily in the youth sector. I expect a learning year for our players.
“I am working with Galliani and Dolcetti to ensure the Milan model continues. Let’s hope we’ve taken the right path.” Hachim Mastour (born in 1998) has not officially been included in the Primavera squad (U20), he’ll play with boys closer to his age.

I am really confident regarding our future. The Primavera has some very promising players. Just like the Allievi. IMO Serie A is on a rise and if teams start to follow the plan Sky Italia suggested I see no reason in suggesting that we will be back dominating world football fairly soon. Just look at our team in 4 or 5 years time. Balotelli, El Shaarawy and De Sciglio will be peaking. Just like a lot of our current players. E.g.- Saponara, Poli. And then there will be our influx of youngsters, such as Cristante, Petagna, Vergara alongside current Primavera… Read more »
