12 players from the squad of Montella will play with national teams in this break.
Gianluigi Donnarumma made history this week as he became the youngest player to be called-up by Italia’s first team in 105 years but he was not the only Milan player who received the call from his nation.
Between senior sides and U21 & U19 teams, 12 players will not be training at Milanello this week due to their involvment in their national teams. Here is the full list (via acmilan.com):
* Romagnoli was originally called-up for senior Italy side (his first ever call-up) but was released by coach Giampiero Ventura so he could join the Italy U21 who have an emergency in defense.
** Alessandro Plizzari was a late addition to the U19 squad.

Massively proud and happy for Gigio, he deserves it. And to practice and learn from Buffon, its just a win-win even if he might not play already. Hope our players all do well, wish them luck in their international duties. On another note, seems like we are learning, according to Di Marzio, Empoli and Milan have agreed on the loan deal for Mauri. One year loan deal, NO buy out clause! Very important, finally we are doing it right. As we did with Niang and Suso. Wish him the best and he returns stronger and more mature, he has potential… Read more »
Best news that I read regarding Mauri …. I hope he plays every week and becomes an important player like Paredes and Zielinski who honed their craft at Empoli … I was thinking we could loan him to Bologna …. Donadoni was his Parma coach who brought him to prominence and would know how to extract the best from Mauri …
I was thinking the same thing… maybe Bologna would’ve been a better move, since Empoli dont have neither Sarri nor Giampaolo as their coach anymore… but I do hope he gets polished as Zielinski and Paredes as you said. I dont really know much about their current coach. Still hope he does as well as them. Totally agree with you brother!
To your point, Giampaolo was also a nobody when he arrived at Empoli …. These clubs are good in hiring coaches who give a run to youth players … Anyways keeping fingers crossed and hoping Mauri returns as a beast …
Giampaolo is also doing well at Sampdoria. Makes wonder how in the world did we end up with Inzaghi and Mihajlovic when Sarri, Giampaolo and Montella were available.
I truly believe Giampaolo is better than Montella, the same way I believe Sarri is better than Mihajlovic.
Montella’s teams always have defensive issues while Giampaolo’s teams are more balanced.
However, if Montella can improve his defensive game, he will become a great coach.
Comment:go milan go this year its a different year.
I hope Montella can win with this group of players. I love his style and am excited to see how the season plays out, I especially can’t wait for the winter transfer period and the Chinese money.
It’s nice to see that milan players are in the italy squad more than any other team!! On a different note with 3 days left of the market y do I feel like there’s so much more to do still. More of off loading players. Like Ely and vergara should go on loan. Diego Lopez should be sold or Gabriel on loan. Poli should be sold. And a quality cm and cb should still arrive. I’m afraid with such short time we won’t be doing much
Fabregas nasri mangala/caio/caceras witsel is gonna be cheap 20m dang juve n inter r gonna be tough to beat paredes is awesome Roma have great talent napoli destroyed us this is embarrassing Milan again out of Europe so sad
maybe the international break can give the players a somewhat for of mental encouragement…i saw on the facebook page Milan Fans that many people were thinking of selling De Sciglio to Juve for cash…i dunno guys, i still rather he stayed with us, he made some mistakes against Napoli, but still, we should keep him, who knows, maybe with the international break along with our other players, he can find his form and be good again!
Will our leader and wizard bonaventura even get a minute?
Sweet molesting stepfather of god. Finally a coach with little sense and champion name (ventura) calls up another champion bonaventura.
Too bad jaack’s name isnt bonaconte or conte wouldve called him up for euro 16. *wink
Sheva? You came in many forms :P
Well, me and sheva are one in idolizing bonaventura. Just like good old bobby dylan said, “we always did feel the same, we just saw it from different point of views.” After all, sheva mentions jaaack at least 10x more than everyone else here combined so im sure theres love involved. *wink
