Silvio Berlusconi has reportedly turned down Unai Emery, Maurizio Sarri and Sinisa Mihajlovic and it looks like Antonio Conte and Vincenzo Montella are the only candidates left.
The search for the next coach continues as it’s clear that Filippo Inzaghi, despite publicly asking for more chances, won’t have confidence in him renewed and will look to continue his career elsewhere.
Mediaset pundit Maurizio Pistocchi revealed yesterday that Milan have an agreement in place with Sevilla boss Unai Emery but according to a Sky Italia report from Monday evening, Emery is not the one club President Berlusconi wants.
Sky claims that Berlusconi has decided to reject the prospects of hiring Sevilla’s Emery, Empoli’s Maurizio Sarri and Sampdoria’s Sinisia Mihajlovic. The Italian TV station believes that unless Carlo Ancelotti makes an unexpected decision and accepts Milan’s offer to return then the top candidates to replace Inzaghi are Italy boss Antonio Conte and Fiorentina’s Vincenzo Montella.
Ancelotti meanwhile has confirmed his desire to take a year off as his Real Madrid contract will soon be terminated. “I said it at the Press conference, and I can only repeat it – I’ll stop for a year,” Ancelotti said. I also have a very serious reason to stop, I need to have an operation for cervical stenosis.
“For some time I’ve been having tingling in my hands, if I wait any longer it may spread to my legs, so I’ve made an appointment for surgery. Frankly I don’t know how long I’ll have to physically stop, for the postoperative phase and subsequent rehabilitation.
“Galliani is in Madrid? It’ll be a pleasure to have guests for dinner, but I can’t change the schedule. The die is cast. Milan? I’ve always said and thought that if one day I return to coach a club in Italy, I could only do it with Milan. Their future? I know they have big plans, and they want to invest and revive the team. It won’t be easy though, as the clubs who have big players will want to keep them.”
Everything is still a rumour of course and the only certainly is that Inzaghi will leave Milan.
Great… the only manager I was hoping for was Emery but I guess Conte is another hopeful one who also trusts youth. I just hope its not Montella cause that will probably be another disaster season…

Any logical explanation as to why he’s disregarded Emery? I suppose Conte would be okay but nothing to get too excited about because of his terrible record in Europe. And Montella is just a big fat no-go.

I really hoped we will hire Emery. A proven coach, capable of bringing us on the path of sucess. He showed he can achieve results with more or less limited team, and to be honest, our team is really limited for the time being. Unlike Conte, who did have great results with Juve, but to be realistic, it was more or less straightforward job. I’m from Croatia, and seeing him now and his Italy team playing against us, i realize he maybe isnt so capable of making not so great team better…
Agree 100%, Emery would be more capable for the job… And how it seems for now Angelloti is taking year off, klopp (maybe to madrid), emery rejected, conte (probably that will fail too), and we will get montella…

Milan current squad is not too bad but it is coach fault.

But seriously, it looks like the Chinese are gonna invest if reputable sources are to be believed. And Carlo might jump in which in my view is the best candidate. I like montella & his tactics but his inconsistency Is a concern. he could defeat roma 4-1..and lose to verona 2-0 in the following game.
conte on the other hand, aside from his hardworking and winning mentality which is not everthing for me, his arrogance & attitude towards critics sucks! and I dont like the way his teams play.

I am starting to think that Berlusconi doesnt want a “small team” coach in Milan again. We went from an inexperienced albeit servicebale coach in Seedorf, to Inzaghi another inexperience coach, and that was after Leonardo, and Allegri. We havent really had a manager here since Ancelotti. Maybe that is his line of thinking? @Hasowayne, what do you think? @milanista id love your input as well

I completely agree, I think he wants a coach who can bring us instant success, and is done experimenting. With the exception for Ancelotti, there arent too many class coaches out there. I mean, even Emery would be a gamble in my opinion, even if he has done well with Sevilla, for me, he seems like a coach at that very calibre – Sevilla, EL etc, not a coach who can bring us back to the top, competing for Serie A and UCL, but who knows. Absolute Stupidity – Emery is best option. Conte can only do good in Serie A which is not what we want. Very Inflexible with his 3-5-2 . Montella is fine but Emery would have been amazing. Would have taken us far in Europe.
