Giampaolo Pazzini and Christian Abbiati may have played their last game for Milan at Stadio San Siro and were instrumental in Milan’s 3-0 win.
Milan are believed to be heading towards a revolution and there are many players with expiring contracts. Two of them are Giampaolo Pazzini and Christian Abbiati who yesterday played 90 minutes in Milan’s last home game of the season.
Abbiati was expected to be given the captain armband but it was il Pazzo who wore it and he played a good game in which the striker, who turns 31 in August, managed to score his 100th Serie A goal.
“100 goals in Serie A? It’s an objective that I’ve been chasing for a while! Tonight I managed it and it happened with the captain’s armband,” Pazzini told the Milan Channel after the match.
“Abbiati gave me the captain’s armband before the match and said you now have to score your 100th! To score 100 goals with the captain’s armband makes it a very special evening. My friends and family were all in the stands. Abbiati is one of the leaders in the dressing room. It was a nice gesture.
“Stephan? I am very happy for El Shaarawy. He has endured some tough months. He deserved it, he’s a good person and I wish him all the very best. I am happy to have scored, seeing as my son was also in the stands. Montolivo? He will come back strong. This has been an unlucky year for everyone, tough to experience and to play, because when the results don’t come it’s always hard.
“The future? No one has communicated anything yet to me, we shall see. Everyone knows that I am happy here. What has been said by the President Berlusconi and CEO Galliani is good because it’s only right that a club like Milan gets back to competing again in Italy and in Europe as it’s in the club’s DNA.”

Christian Abbiati also spoke to the MC after the game, revealing his plans for the future. “Future? In my 15 years at Milan this is the first where I have always been available to the coach. Physically I am fine. The club knows this and so do the coaches. If they do not renew my contract, I will stop.
“Pazzini as captain? It was a gesture, a wish that he would reach the milestone of 100 goals. I am happy for him. Tonight is a small satisfaction and we’ve won the last match of the season at home and we played very well. Hard work pays and I believe in this. If you are a professional, things go for the best.
“El Shaarawy? He did well. I congratulated him on his goals. He played well. He was determined to get back on track after all the injuries and he did very well for the team today.”
i would renew abbiati another season, he is good back up and gabriel is gonna stay with carpi to get experience so why not? also does somebody knows if gabriel did brake serie b clean sheet record? he was 4 shy with 6 games left last time I checked, the record was 22
Abbiati has shown this season that he is still fully capable of coming in and doing a good job if need be. I see no problem offering him a new deal.
In the last few years, his errors have cost Milan many easy points. There are better alternatives.
like who? aggazi?
Agree with both of you, and considering his low salary, and likelihood he would agree to further reduce it for another year, as he understands the economic situation of the club. Also, as a leader of the dressing room, who experienced the good and the bad times in Milan, he should definitely be renewed at this point when we have a clear first choice keeper in Lopez. Any other action on the GK spot than Abbiatis renewal, Lopezs extension, Gabriel loan extension at Carpi and Agazzis sale with Donnarumma on call from the primavera would be a surprise. Perin, I… Read more »
I sincerely hope both of them renew their contracts… Especially abbiati i cant imagine Milan without him, and he deserves to start more than he has. Hope to see him start the next game too, and then to see both of them extend! Pazzo, Abbia, and Ignia should definitely renew out of the ones with exciting contracts…de jong is one of them too but he seems less likely to do so…Anyhow fingers crossed as always.
I hope Pazzini stays and plays. It seems that he wasn’t given a chance. He is a very good player.
