My Two Cents – A quick rant on Milan’s recent outing

ZERO creativity. Zero tactical nous. Zero ambition. End result: an average, average team.

Montolivo proved he is inept playing alone as an anchor. Positional sense was terrible, lunging in tackles far up the pitch which exposed the backline. Not to mention how cheaply he relinquished possession.

If Boateng, El Shaarawy and Robinho were as concerned about perfecting their overall game instead of their swagalicious hairstyles, then we’d have the most revered attack in Europe.

Highlights: Milan 0-1 Sampdoria
Milan-Sampdoria: Official line-ups

It’s beyond me how Allegri could field a midfield consisting of Montolivo, Flamini, Nocerino and Boateng, piles too much responsibility on the former Viola captain and gives Milan no other outlet to initiate attacks. They’re not the only question marks raised. Serious explanation is needed on the opted defensive pairing of Bonera and Yepes. Though, there is somewhat a silver lining. At least our boy, Allegri, is learning in some facets of his management. Yesterday we witnessed multiple substitutions during early intervals of the second period which showcased his intention of trying to alternate the outcome of match through proactive means, albeit with him substituting Robinho who was arguably our most dangerous player.

De Sciglio, Antonini and Yepes can hold their heads high. The former really held his own in the second stanza and is about the sole positive which we can extract from the match.

Potential healthy loss? Well, that remains to be seen. Personally, I think the panic buy floodgates will soon be oiled and be flung open in quick succession.

Am always right? its the first time that. but it will mean that half the fans of this blog are right as well. especially the one who wrote the article, cos the results came as no surprise

I hope for Kaka and Lass or De Jong, and we should do well. That are signings that we need, one to protect the defence (Lass/De Jong) and Kaka for creativity, which will move Prince down to midfield. It will give us plenty of options in midfield with some nice width. I don’t think Yanga will join this summer as Mexes will stay, and I’m glad he’ll stay, Yanga will join us next summer probably, as he statet. Our centre backs will be: Yanga-Mbiwa, Mexes, Acerbi, Zapata (if he continues to impress) and Bonera, Yepes will have retired or left… Read more »

@udochukwu,I saw your comment and i laughed. Mourinho was litreaten to resign last season because CR7 was linked with a return back to Manchester united saying that if Real sell CR7, then he will resign. Beilsa of Bilbao also threatened when the club management was selling their best players. Why??????????? Because good players make a good coach. bring Mourinho,Pep, Mancini, Beilsa or any coach you fell is good or even conte to come and coach this current squad and i bet you that the best they will get is a mid table finish. A management sold one of the best… Read more »

fighting for serie a survival?you must be on crack…the begining of serie a will be disapointing for milan but we will get there..the team needs time to gel…we can comment more after a few games

The team, our beautiful colors, is paying for the crisis of the berlusconi family and of italian football in general. expect us to be fighting for europa league spots by April/May next year..unfortunately its the truth. Galliani will try to bring Kaka and if he comes Berlusconi will be hailed as a hero and kaka as our champion but i honestly have a feeling after some games he will get injured and we will be back to square 0. We need to sign a quality left back(davide santon would be amazing) a director in midfield(strootman or de jong) and a… Read more »

Did u watch psg,man u, madrid, arsenal, tottenham….with all their signings if so my question is that are their coaches not good enough, if yes then Allegri is not good as well.

REPORT from Di Marzio:

*Niang could be Milan player by this evening boldy is willing to buy him outright as two agents will fly to France now to close the deal.

*As for Diarra and Kaka story is different, still negotiating but not even close, no loan.

If this happen all that’s left is Mbiwa. But i still think we need another midfielder

Milanista121

Nice, very nice. I hope both Kaka and Diarra joins, but I wouldn’t be sad if De Jong joined instead of Diarra.
Exactly only thing missing would be Mbiwa, but he’ll probably join next year as Mexes will stay with us.
Keep the faith, Galliani owes these signings to the fans!

Ted

I would perfer De Jong over Diarra too. Mbiwa is a must this summer and another creative midfielder should come we shouldn’t expect Kaka to do all the work if he comes. Then we r ready to go.

Milanista121

Yes, Mbiwa now would be great, but he would probably join us at the expense of Mexes, I’d like to keep Mexes, and instead Mbiwa joins us next year at the expense of Yepes, who’ll probably retire or join another team.
But our centre backs aren’t all that bad now, Mexes with Acerbi/Zapata. But Mbiwa, whether it’s now or next summer is a must, of course!
But for now like I said, if we get Kaka and De Jong/Lass, it would be great.

Forza1899Milan

I know our game was horrible, but are we getting carried away? I’m not comparing ourselves to our 2010-2011 Scudetto winning squad, but does anyone remember how poorly we played in our first away match against newly promoted Cesena? We lost 2-0. We had a horrible game and Ibrahimovic missed a penalty! I know this squad sucks, but I think we are analyzing this single perfomance too much!

vic

The fact is, milan performance was poor.
I didn’t think at all that milan performance would be this bad. I hope this is the last time I saw milan playing like yesterday. Every parts of Milan needs to be unite and works very hard. Forever one and only Milan. Forza Milan. Forza Milan fans.

Ouch!

One of two things can happen, either the owners sell the club i.e. (B&G) and the new owners invest in the team or B&G stay and invest in the team while Allegri is told to pack his bags and leave. Out of the two the most realistic thing that can happen is the second scenario. Am sorry but Allegri doesnt seem to have any tactical variation/variety or any creativeness in his lineups, he just continuously plays the 4-3-1-2 with his preferred 3 DM’s occupying the midfield over and over and over again!! ALLEGRI OUT!!!!

cyborg

people please, boateng (when played in the correct position is a fantastic player), nocerino is a fantastic player on his day, monti is fantastic since he has great technic and he can create, emanuelson has made a tremendous improvement. In my opinion we have a fantastic midfield, we just need the a coach who’s can think better, who learns from his mistakes, who’s attack minded, and prefers technic over physic. Allegri is a great coach, but not for milan. He doesn’t see till today that boateng lacks the qualities of a trequatista, instead of turning defensive minded player with no… Read more »

I prefer new tactics.

@makaveli, it seems u don’t get me. The result came as no surprise to me either. Of course u re so quick to point out dat d team was Lecce but Allegri was d coach then and if he cannot beat Samp now he shudn’t be hanged. When he was at Calgiari he used d 4-3-1-2 formation 2ru out. Were u xpecting him to change bcos he is in Milan. He is a one tactics coach and Galliani knew dat when he brought him, so who are u to blame? If Allegri wasn’t approached he wudn’t be here. U guyz… Read more »

Most of the points you raised are in the non-factual realm.Let me clearly point them out for you….Allegri is not an unknown Italian Tactician to begin with.In-fact he was awarded Best Italian Coach twice in a row with his former Cagliari team.If being two times Seria A best coach is unknown to you then it’s obvious you need help. If Allegri is not Milan material, what then does it take one to be of Milan material??? Tell me….I’ll wait. Then again…you brought up ”We” all were shocked. You and who..were shocked??lol…i wasn’t balled over when i heard he was the one to coach… Read more »

yes Vic. all summer signings will be pointless if the tactics remain the same. Montolivo, Acerbi and Zapata are not bad at all but with the right tactics they will be clueless

vic

Agreed. We can’t always depending on one tactic and hope that tactic will always work everytime. Its nonsense.

Opinion Varies

I have read more than enough comments to make me conclude most of you are defective in your thinking.New tactics…?? Like really…new tactics? For crying out loud…how do you expect the coach to come up with new tactics with the set of players at his disposal. Not playing smart or anything…but for Allegri to switch to new tactics, technically there must be certain type of players to execute that perfectly well. And by the look of things, unless Berlusconi who is still stuck in the last century is able to get the right attacking minded midfielders for the coach to let the team… Read more »

Most of the people here blaming Allegri but I can point few fingers at some established player so to speak. First of all Allegri made a mistake playing Bonera and Yepes together in the heart of defense. We all know Bonera is not going to make any team of Milan’s stature except Milan. I have no clue why he played him, maybe he likes him personally. He should not have been in the team if the first place, Zapata would have been my choice. The next problem is the left back slot. Antonini can play against mediocre teams but he… Read more »

It going to be a long post…so brace yourself. Lets start by saying i’m a very hopeful person. I´ve always defended the business side of Milan (selling player for the right price), and also said that we should wait to see the first game and then judge(after the departure of the senators, Thiago and Ibra). That being said…. Yesterdays match showed us many things; 1) The most importante one is that the team has no leader. Sorry but it´s true, not even Allegri, the only one that even became close was yepes in the second half (also antonini tried, but… Read more »

the CDM should have been traore , not montolivo who is more of a central mid then on the wings in mid you could put nocerino and boateng who do score goals to help the attack. i find flamini i useless player and more of a sub for when the starters get tired because he has good endurance the attack he should have started pazzo with robinho but pazzo was prolli not fit so ill understand that reasoning which is why pato NEEDS to stop getting injured b/c the pharaoh is still not ready for top flight starting 11 football.… Read more »

Alergy lover hahahaha…lololol.. Let’s buy some seri b ticket next year,.perhaps we will watch milan there.. RIP our dream

vic

That’s why the coach must using the players to their best position
. New tactics is possible 4 any team. I think milan can play 4-3-3, 4-4-2, 4-3-2-1, 4-2-3-1 even with the players right now. So you prefer to buy more DMF and we will always using 4-3-1-2 instead using the players at the team to make a better and flexible tactics. Its doesn’t make sense. I agree we need a new signing, but we need a new tactics too so the team more flexible and becme hard to predictable..

alluallu

With out our fool squad we can only play defensibly with fast counterattacks. Yesterday we played like we still hav Ibra in our team. We can’t afford to do mess around.
I would play with a 4-4-1-1

Abbiati

De Sciglio-Zapata-Yepes-Antonini

Emanuelson-Nocerino-Montolivo-Constant

Boateng

Robinho

It was a highly disappointing start to the season to say the least, especially at home and the context of the summer of discontent. The most negative thing about the match was the attitude of player or the lack of it. Where was the fight? Where was the passion? Where was the willingness to give all for the shirt, the badge and for the fan? While world class players are important, our squad isn’t to be taken lightly. Even the much maligned Bonera has 23 CL appearances under his belt, more than most defenders in Serie A. We as fans… Read more »

I honestly think Milan have great players when played in their correct positions will flourish well. for example, K.P.Boateng shined for Ghana as a defensive in a 4-2-3-1 system but was given the license to join attach when necessary.
