THE NEED is the same, but has been increased after yesterday’s game.
Milan’s biggest problem is in the left-back position in recent years and last night the management saw again that Luca Antonini is far from being Milan level and they are now searching for a solution.
Urby Emanuelson and Didac Vila arrived this summer; the Dutch proved to be good in midfield but Didac “has to learn Italian football” according to Coach Massimiliano Allegri.
Italian Cup still in reach
Milan 2 – 2 Palermo
Gianluca Zambrotta has put decent performances lately, but is already 34, and Milan are thinking about the future and signing a good left-back is at the top of their priorities.
Many players have been linked with Milan in recent months, from Reto Ziegler to Domenico Criscito, Federico Balzaretti, Taye Taiwo, Aly Cissokho and even Juan Manuel Vargas.
But one thing is certain – Milan will sign a left-back this summer.

I’d prefer Balzaretti. Cristico is expensive, and might be a flop. I hate Lippi’s last year selections :)
Vargas? I like him very much, he looks like Gattuso but he had more instinc to make a goal, if Milan sign him, it will be good tranfers in summer! Criscito? No comment, he’s great!
Vargas is unlikely, his market tag is around 15 or 20 millions at least
didac is 21 and a pro..he had played 24 games for espanyol this season b4 we signed him.seriously what abt italian football must he learn?ganso is also 21.will allegri say he also has to learn italian football. to me,the one who does not know milan/italian football is antonini
I think that it’s obvious that allegri doesn’t trust didac, and that this is just an excuse. I still doubt in this player as he isn’t good enough currently even to grab a place on the bench. We will probably trade him in the summer to lower price of some other player(maybe criscito)
l totally agree with you.. about Didac Villa we could have atleast leave him where he was getting playing time coz we are destroying his Talent
I think Emanuelson and Didac they are lb so why Allegri didn’t try them???Also in this summer we can try one of those LB:Fábio Coentrão,Mimmo Criscito,Aly Cissokho and Marcelo Vieira!!
I still have a thing for Cissokho ever since he stated it was his dream club, I also like Coentrao & Criscito and Taiwo is slowly growing on me. Of course buy Italian when possible but remember 2009 season had Zambro RB Italian and Janku LB Czech … It can happen again.
my dream defence for ac milan
LB f.coentrao CB t.silva CB d.luiz RB S.Ramos
I thinkkk! we have got emanuelson and d.villa after antonini. Which i dont understand why?…both of the are young(check).both of them have proved themselves with their old clubs(check).both of them have got the pottential to be great findings for milan(check)… Then i don’t know what the problem is?..we just need to give them some time, just like we did it with abate and look at him now.
Depend on our budget next season. Cissokho, Taiwo, Balzaretti and Vargas already proven in European and surely won’t be cheap . Criscito won’t be cheap either. Not sure about Ziegler, he wasn’t good enough when he was at Spurs. But he was young back then. Let’s hope Didac will improve a lot. La Liga is much different than Serie A which more tactical, so probably that’s why Allegri said that Didac still has to learn about Italian footbal. Cissokho probably the best option since he still excelled in Lyon after leaving Porto. But Lyon surely won’t let him good cheap… Read more »
We just want to sign players have 18-21.i think its not corect.i dont like old player but young players need time.see arsenal they cant win anything.i think sisokho is good for us.i saw his play
Marseilles’ president said today that Taiwo has been in contact with AC Milan for months. I think he’s going to be coming on the free. I really wonder what we’re gonna do with Didac though
According to a official at marseille on milannews we are in contact with Taiwo to sign him on a free basis. The player is way better than the aging Balzaretti and is optimal for Milan. Plus hes free.
lol at the guy who said Taiwo wont be cheap… Hes not! Hes free lol… Do your research next time please. Hes an excellent fast overlapping left back.
Taiwo makes economical sense as he’s on a free and I’m led to believe he can gain a French passport so he won’t use up our non-EU spot but I’d rather Criscito if possible but his price will undoubtedly be too high.
Still, I’d be pleased with Taiwo.
Cissohko is the best option. However we’ll have to settle for the cheap option. Chel$ea signed David Luiz, we signed Legrotaglia..LMAO.
Yes Taiwo can get a French passport as he lived in France for more than five years making an income, according to French law. I believe he already has one from what I have read.
Taiwo is just as good as Cissokho if not better, rossonero. Take my word on that one! And we can spend that 15 million on midfield. Dont compare Taiwo to Legro hahah. No comparison.
Ok my comments… Cristo has played against Milan a number of times and has stopped players like pato and ronaldinho… He is young fast and expencsive yes worth it maybe… Giancarlo your always telling people to take your word but half the time your word gets dissproven… taiwo is good but he has been beaten a number of times on the Counter trying to make room for himself to shot (being selfish with the ball ) We need a LB who will make the attacking run but have neough sense not to give the ball away cheaply for a counter… Read more »
Actually Taiwo is faster and better defensively then Cissokho. We need to spend all this money on midfield. I hope we spend 15 million Mascherano. He would be worth it. I know what i am talking about. My word doesnt get disproven. your ideas on criscito are hilarious. Genoa has been terrible defensively. When Kaladze is outshining Criscito you know he is not the right player for us. Taiwo is rarely beaten defensively. And Vargas is nothing special!
Carlo 15M won’t buy Mascherano, and in addition he stated he has no intention of leaving Barca and is fine being a squad player.
But I would love to see the Milanese twins sign both the Argentineans that saved West Ham from relegation a few years ago.
lol yes it would because mascherano is valued at that. Plus we can get a good price from Barcelona. He will leave.
Gian again twaio is to hardheaded attacking wise watch highlights of taiwo against any club that has speed in midfield.. he gets caught on the break almost every single time… plus with his ego you think he can partner with silva nesta and gattuso and Ibra no way
and Milan dont need Mascherano with Gattuso and Ambrosini… Our Midfield is perfect with boateng merkel flamini ambrosini gattuso and robinho (used at the attackin mid)
why spend 15 mill on something we have covered?
Who can cover sneijder eto’o and milto better… honestly cissoko or vargas, taiwo would lose the ball to stanckovic or maicon, vargas would have the vision to crass to ibra or a diagonal ball to pato… look at how easily Zambrotta played against inter…how does he play… like an older version of vargas.. taiwo would be a alright person to grab yeah but there is no way he makes an impact versus inter juve madrid barca man u or man city for that matter
you are clueless about taiwo man. Hes good defending. And rarely loses his man. Plus ambro and gattuso are way past their best
gian again your disproven i bet last year you said the same about gattuso and whoop there he is makin his challenges being the gatusso we love to watch… amborsini has yet to hit his prime…. you are just one of those guys like winger we need oyuth… youth dont win champions league or serie a… look at the teams left in CL Barca Madrid Shalkc and man u ( i see more experienced players in those squads) im not lcueless about taiwo or bigger teams would be after him Barca need someone o replace abidal… inter need someone to… Read more »
Are you a moron? Or does it just come naturally for you lol? Ambrosini is 34 years old… he’s way past his prime. He’s injury prone too. I love the guy, but I know his prime was YEARS AGO. Ambrosini isn’t Giggs. Nor is he a Maldini. Or Nesta. I always had faith in Gattuso, but he’s 33 years old. These players can’t keep up with opposing players. I’m pretty sure you didn’t watch Real Madrid v Milan where we lost 2-0… You’re totally clueless. You have no clue about Taiwo. Taiwo defended well against MANCHESTER UNITED… where Marseille nearly… Read more »
this guy is a laugh. Knows nothing about players and first of robinho is not an attacking mid. He wants to keep a past it gattuso and ambro. this guy is clueless about football and should go away. Probably another dumb inter fan… Lol. Should we resign favalli because hes experienced? What a tool.
Just look at his comments!! Is this how a mature adult takes part in a debate with other fans who love the club just as much. He needs to understand that everyone is entitled to their opinion. What is this cr@p about Cavey being an Inter fan??? What sort of an insulting and condescending attitude is this to a milan fan who is simply sharing his opinion like everyone else??? I suggest that if u dont agree u should say so respectfully! We can all agree to disagree. And if u think u are the all knowing enlightened God of… Read more »
haha this actually didnt hurt me at all, a couple years back when milan sold kaka i thought it was the right move and i was called so much worse and looking back it was the right move… found an underlying injury and also got a good amout of money that helped…
yeah i have been wrong about plently of things like this morning i thought for sure i would have a day all to myself…wrong the gf had to come over and discuss yesterdays game with me… i never get to watch highlights alone anymore :(
Yet you’re in favor of keeping past it, injured players like Ambrosini? I recognize what Ambrosini has done, but that’s the past. You know nothing about football now. It’s about pace and power. Things change.
*as YOU so very articulately….
A mature adult? How about how you conduct yourself in your attacks on me? You came out of nowhere… and now you should disappear into obscurity. I was personally attacked, hence why I have a tough attitude towards others here. Grow up, Bark.
gian again robinho has played as the attacking midfielder this year for your information behind pato and ibrahomivc or do you not even follow ac milan?
there is a diffrence in experinced and being to old…. pirlo puyol even buffon and van der sar.. are experenced… players like ronaldo (brasil) rivaldo diago tristan.. these are players that are to old… maybe you should learn the differnce between being right and wrong…
The problem with this post is its logic. Robinho is best as a winger and second striker. That’s where he is most efficient because of his runs in plays. He builds up players to the striker. We need a proper number 10. Any logical Milan fan would tell you that. Of course you’re not logical, and you want us to keep those veterans that are holding us back. I loved Ambro and Gattuso for all their contributions, but they can no longer player at the highest level. I was Gattuso’s biggest fan in the past few years, and remember his… Read more »
yeah you have young players like messi and c ronaldo on barca and madrid rooney on man u but they have experince needed to play in these leagues and win…. experince doesnt mean old or young it means players like robinho messi c.ronaldo tevez lahm these players who have been in the spotlight who can do there jobs like its a walk in the park with 80,000 fans screaming at them or cheering for them… My point to you gianCarlo maybe you should be more experinced at getting fact and watching highlights and covering games… because every article i see… Read more »
Oh man Cavey!! Finally someone who gets my point about this immature little kid giancarlo who u can never debate with…if u wanna have a mature debate it’s impossible with Giancarlo because his way is always right! As I had commented in an earlier post, he always wants to prove he is right. As soon as u disagree with him he gets all defensive and starts insulting people with condescending remarks. And when so many people keep telling him he has an arrogant attitude he just tells them to “go away”! As if he owns this blog! Who the f***… Read more »
Wow it sounds like these two are having a personal session together. Get a room guys! If you’re going to make out, do it elsewhere. I have nothing against that. You need to go away Bark… back into obscurity. You came out just to attack me. Believe me, I’m far more mature then you are. You’re a nasty individual, bark. One of no character or integrity. And you just love lying about other people…
My point is you can’t keep putting your team into the hands of players that can no longer perform at the highest level. And neither ambrosini or gattuso can do it. Ambrosini has been injured most of the season… and Gattuso may not be here next season. I’m not for giving up all experience. I’m not into fantasy football. I value the importance of Zambrotta, Nesta and Inzaghi. Without them I don’t think players like Abate or Thiago Silva could have grown. Inzaghi could stay until he’s 40. You’re misstating what I believe. But a defensive midfielder is imperative for… Read more »
@ Batk0807
You have to forgive Giancarlo but he thinks he`s the second coming of Capello and he is a football guru, I´ve learned to ignore him.
It is seriously very irritating and gets on your nerves! He’s the only one who doesn’t see it! And I’ve been tying my best to ignore him over the past few months…but it seems to be getting worse this attitude of his!
And truth be told honestly there are so many times I’ve thought of sharing the link here of my most favorite Milan blog where we have some of the best discussions….full of lively healthy debate about the club we so love….I usually share that link on all the forums so we can get even more ideas and opinions making the discussions all the more lively. The ONE & ONLY reason I haven’t shared it here is Giancarlo! I wouldn’t want his big ego and condescending attitude infecting the blog I so love! @Giancarlo: Go on tell me to “go away”… Read more »
Now two more parrots… yes, back down quietly and disappear into obscurity, you nut case. You have no right to talk to me like this. I ought to smack you right in the face.
I react when people have poor attitudes. You want respect? YOu better start showing it. You have some of the best discussions? You didn’t even post until recently, you LIAR.
@jerry: Not just the second coming of Capello…Sacchi, Capello, Ancelloti all rolled into one!
LOL.
One thing is certain, Allegri is not the second coming of Capello.
Some of you ought to quiet down. If you think I’m the second coming of Sacchi or whoever, you guys elevate yourselves to the second coming of Buddha or Jesus… you are arrogance defined. I’m here to voice my perspective. Some of you elevate yourselves above others all the time. Stop being hypocrites.
Hypocrisy is one of the worst things. You demand me to be nicer, then start doing it yourself!
I love the animal Vargas, how old is balzaretti???
