Inzaghi: “Milan have to improve, the blame lies with me”

25

FILIPPO INZAGHI has taken the blame for the awful performance against Man City and asked his players for more.

For the second pre-season in a row, Milan conceded five goals against Manchester City but last night they probably played worse than they did in the 2013 Audi Cup. The Rossoneri were miserable and were torn up by Man City’s B team.

Jovetic (12′, 58′), Sinclair (13′), Navas (23′) and Iheanacho (26′) hit a poor Milan who only managed to score once through Muntari (42′). Milan have now conceded 8 goals in their last two games and coach Filippo Inzaghi has taken the heat.

“It’s in front of everybody’s eyes that we have to improve in lots of areas. We’ve not been working long and we come off the back of an eighth place finish. We have to work a great deal,” the newly-appointed tactician, Inzaghi, told to the journalists during the press conference after the game at the Heinz Field in Pittsburg. “We didn’t do too badly in the first 10 minutes.

“We did well in terms of possession and less so without the ball which we’ve focused less on. I’m disappointed because we conceded those two goals after creating chances. Without the ball we’re not nasty enough, we need to react more when we lose the ball. Work is the only thing that will allow us to be competitive soon. It’s down to me to watch the match again and ask for more from everybody. Balotelli? Mario had a good game, we asked a lot of him because he only arrived on Monday.

“He was ready to play 45 minutes, we need to work on his fitness step by step and we will try and bring everyone up to the same level. It’s never nice to lose like this, the players have to now train well and get back to playing better as soon as possible. Our fitness can’t come close to the Premier League sides, but we certainly have to give that something extra.

“The blame lies with me and I will take it. I will continue working with this squad and when we’re all in shape and we have everyone we definitely won’t be the side from the past two matches. Clearly we could have shown more concentration and determination and it’s down to me to ask more of this in the next match. I think that once we’re a complete group we can be competitive in the league. I expect more when we don’t have possession. I’m angry with myself because if this is the performance then the blame is mine and together with my staff we’ll come through it. We’ll get back on track,”he added.

“We have to concede fewer goals. We must improve on this aspect.” Milan have one more match in the United States before heading back to home base and it’ll take place on Saturday at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, against Liverpool.

Our game is getting worse match by match 4m olympiacos to man city. Let’s see what happens against liverpool

Ross Oneri

Inzaghi was a very bad decision, I’m sorry to sound negetive but wait and see for your self. I’m sho Galliani is going to quit after Inzaghi failure. Inzaghi doesn’t have the personality and character to build a solid team from the current Milan, for him it would better if we were stable and have proven stars. Galliani, Montolivo and some few players conspired to get Seedorf sacked bcoz they hav personal issues with him, Seerdof was not here to nurse players like babies while they earn big bucks. He was here to get results and he did but guess… Read more »

LOL 2 preseason games and inzaghi is a bad coach? Go cheer for another team. You obviously arent a rossoneri fan.

Tochi

I believe in Milan. inzaghi will do well if Milan satisfy his needs. give him time. forza Milan!

Sheva

His needs is, Bonera starting centerback, keeping zaccardo and constant.

It’s not Inzaghi’s fault, even Ferguson will be terrible with these amateurs.

dezima

Henriano

@ ross oneri, i agree with u totally cos seedorf told them the truth,he became an enemy especially the italian players, and they conspire to get seedorf sacked,nw we shall see

Milan usa

Any coach is a good coach as longest u have the right players
Forza pippo

Phildadon86

Everyone talking about pippo, and saying hes a bad coach, hes had 2 games to get the players ready. Everyone else is ahead of us in fitness. Now, as for the people saying hes a good coach with bad players, and any coach can win with the right players. Take a look at Allegri on Juve. He lost his first game to a serie c team, juve has far superior players to milan, yet, allegri still found a way to lose. Thats the difference people. And the players didnt conspire against Seedorf, there is a lot that we dont know… Read more »

This team was starting to damage since two years ago….and now we are just seeing the wreck of milan. This team would go nowhere since the management prefer to get free mediocre players instead of buy the decent ones. And prefer to build a museum instead of our own stadium. Oh by the way, building a museum shows that we are still living in the past. But nowadays football is about present and futures….

milantx

This is horrible trash by pippo, the line up he started consisted of more world cup starters than city. Pippo has this crazy wild idea you can win without defense. He thinks ac milan years past offense won those titles not the rock hard defense anchored by Maldini. SB has let this team run in to the ground, where’s the money from Ibra and Silva? Where was that used? Milan run by SB and galliani is trash, they sell a player only to use a third or half to get new players. What in return can you truly get back… Read more »

Pipo cannot be blamed even though he diplomatically takes responsibility but all the blame is on BnG. On a positive note, there are 2 separate reliable sources (Sportmediaset and Gazzeta.it) report that Milan have just received an offer of EUR4M for Robinho. They have offered Robinho a 3 year contract worth 2.5m per season. Remember Galliani said an offer will come on monday and its reported that Galliani is only waiting for Robinho to accept the offer. This will bring 4M from Besiktas plus 10m saved from Robinho’s salary totaling EUR14M. This is just from Robinho and when u add… Read more »

Forza seedorf wherever u are.

when berlusconi sold kaka back in 2007, even DOLCE & GABBANA said its better to sell the whole team if milan sells kaka. They were right in a way

Berlusconi should sold Milan 2007

bash@9ja

Inzaghi-“we didn’t do too badly in the first ten minutes”.what the **** football match is played for ninety minutes.Get that into your skull.Forza Seedorf!

Nas

It wouldn’t matter if we had several top managers managing this team because it’s NOT a team, the players look like there complete strangers to one and other and there’s not one player in the entire squad that’s proper captain material to try sort out the dressing room and be an authoritative figure, montolivo is certainly not the man for the job he’s not even good enough to play for milan, once all our proper players left or retired the team that was left was quite simply a joke being run by two even bigger clowns

Lumen.

Forza Claurence Seedorf, you did great things with this team that loses with a large margin like 3-0 and 5-1.
I miss you Dorf.

kuro

dude it’s not 100% inzaghi fault. the players can’t give what they are asked for. that’s it. football without defense? nothing wrong with that. well, i think what inzaghi ask their players to do is not an ofensive football that neglect defense. he always says that he want his players to work hard, professional and work as a team. and if you really watch the game, you see that everybody was asked to move together. but then again, players doesn’t do that. mostly they just running around and sellfishly playing alone. if you compare this rubbish team with one in… Read more »

4-3-3 is not and will never be the ideal formation for milan. Its as if we are going backwards…..Leonardo tried that during his time at milan putting Ronaldinho out wide and it was only successful against smaller teams….when we played the bigger teams in the league we struggled and we were always short in the midfield….I am and will always be a milan supporter but with this formation we wont have success….inzaghi should know better.

Izax

Our fitness can’t come close to premier league sides? Why not, are they a different breed of human? The players just don’t care they are too busy smoking cigarettes. So many excuses from this club. Don’t worry though, we are the most successful club and our ‘DNA’ will come through soon…what a joke

tesarablog

Am i the only one who think that Milan need a quality of GK??

olly

nah bro

Mo

4-3-3 is not good With this kind of defense u need 5 defenders. 4-1-3-2 would be better

Vosic

must be good feeling have a goalkeeper… Wish we get anyone also
