Galliani: “Tevez not an objective, mercato? We’ve a good team”

ADRIANO GALLIANI says Abate will be ready for the UCL play-offs, swears he didn’t speak to Cellino about the mercato.

Milan will start training in a couple of weeks ahead of the new season. All the talks in the newspapers are about players who could come and players who could leave and Adriano Galliani claims Carlos Tevez is no longer a target of il Diavolo.

Juventus’ directors have flown on Tuesday to Manchester to negotiate about the Argentine striker and it seems that Milan are now set to turn their intentions elsewhere. Galliani also insists that he didn’t speak with Cagliari about the market.

Zapata: “Vergara has a bright future”
Robinho’s loss will be Milan’s gain

“To have sponsors that are all leaders in their respective areas is great. We’re working on keeping our brand at a high level,” the Milan Vice President and CEO told the press. “My meeting with Cagliari president Massimo Cellino? We just made jokes. We didn’t speak about the transfer market. I swear we didn’t speak about Davide Astori or Radja Nainggolan.

“The transfer market? We have the right number of players in the squad to face the next season, so if nobody leaves then nobody will arrive. We have a really good team. I repeat; we will only sign a player if someone leaves first. Carlos Tevez is not a transfer objective for us. We have to sell players before we buy anyone. It’s more of a numerical issue than a financial issue. Milan currently have 7 players for 3 positions. We already made a big signing in January when we brought Balotelli.

“We will see what happens. Andrea Poli? We can’t sign Poli unless 3-4 midfielders leave first, and Sampdoria know that. Santos’ offer for Robinho? It’s definitely insufficient, and the Brazilian transfer market closes on July 15. The two non-EU spots? One of our non-EU spots has already been taken by Jherson Vergara, who is doing well during the U20 World Cup.

“We’re following him and the feedback is positive. He’s young, born in 1994, and he still has to develop as player, but he’s not going anywhere. He will stay at Milan and play for the first team. Andrea Petagna? He will not leave. He will play a bit for the first team and a bit for the Primavera. We must qualify for the Champions League because then our Primavera will be able to participate in the new UEFA Youth League. Mario Balotelli? He is scoring with an extraordinary continuity, which he never had at Inter or Manchester City. We’re very happy to have him here with us. Mattia De Sciglio? We’re not surprised about his development as a player. We realized one year ago that he would become a great player,” continued Galliani.

“Our goalkeeping coach, Landucci, has told me that Gabriel will become a starter for Milan. But it will obviously not happen next season because we have the great Abbiati, who has a policy to play here until he’s 60… Abate’s shoulder injury? I spoke with Dr. Tavana, and he told that Abate won’t undergo surgery and he will be ready for the UCL play-off matches.

“The Milan players in the national team? It’s great that the two starting full-backs grew up in our youth sector. We’re satisfied that there’s a group of our players in the Italian national team.” Balo and Abate are both injured and out of the Confed Cup.

Every mercato season gives me minor heart attacks

iMilanista

Man ever since the whole rumor about El Sharaawy leaving i couldn’t sleep at night, like you said Every Mercato season is hard on us. Seeing players we love leave when promises have been made they wouldn’t is too much for me to handle:(

‘We have
the great Abbiati, who has a policy to play here until
he’s 60’ lol, That really cracked me up. Abbiati is truly great though, paid his dues, played second fiddle to Dida for years then turned out a beast.

c

Poli will not come unless 3-4 midfielders leaves… Are you insane uncle fester?? i hope that was one of your mindgames

Ozeki

3 midfielders … could it be Boateng, Nocerino, and Flamini?

Successlinho

I know before that all what we have been hearing about transfer are just a rumour, ”we will not buy unless someone leave” that is their code

Dude

HONDAAAAAAAAA

greg

this is ridiculous, how can West Ham spend £15m on Andy Carroll and we can’t pay 6m to sign Honda, one of the best midfielders in the world!!

cyborg

Honda instead of tevez would be great. Galliani should make sure that all others are sold. No price below €100m should be put on SES, even if it has kaka in it.

greg

Also, Balotelli doesn’t count as a big buy when selling Pato offset 15 of that 20m he cost.

“If no player leaves, then no one will arrive” , hmm this is a worrying statement. I beleive the team needs strenghening and additional quality in Depence, Midfield and Attack. Without new arrivals,i doubt if the team can fight for scudetto talkless of CL semi-final. Some of the players are not needed at all- villa, antonini, zaccardo, traore, taiwo, emmanuelson, nocerino?- so they should go whether new players arrive or not. The ideal squad is 26 players. Forza milan

Milan Freak

Thanks in advance for reading From my point of view Milan has invested a lot on R.Saponara it is obvious if you read what Adriano Galliani says for him, so a move for Honda,Diamanti,R.Alvarez…is not a priority for Milan (my thought). The spot that Milan needs reinforcement 100% is a creative MF! in order to help Montolivo, I believe Adriano Galliani is working 100% for that, He said “in order Poli to come we must sell 3/4 MFs First” if this is true then Adriano Galliani has in mind a better MF than Poli! (don’t take this the wrong way… Read more »

I think if the manager had guts Saponara and Honda could play in the same team, most teams in Europe play with 3 attacking mids. Ours would be El Shaarawy, Saponara and Honda. But no we have to play a 4-3-1-2 that most other top teams would find ridicuolus. I realise Berlusconi is as much to blame as Allegri here.

Milanista

Italian teams dont play 4-2-3-1, its that simple. The three man midfield provides more defensively

Greg

Unfortunately you’re right, the only team who has in recent memory was Mourinhos Inter who won the CL. they’ll never learn

tynny89

Milan my beloved team is falling. We can’t even used 20m on transfer. Napoli just signed a good winger from psv Mertens . I’m tired of this visionless mgt. Its a pity

Milanista121

This sounds good though, if you read in between the lines, it’s obvious that he wants to trim down the squad. 3-4 midfielders leaving – one will join. As long as it is our dead weight players that leaves it’s all good. We should sign a centre back, don’t know who, as long as he is quality and not quantity. Sign Poli, maybe another midfielder and Honda as trequartista! I think we should be fine then. Let’s see what Gabriel can do and if he can overtake Amelia as the second goal keeper, based on the interviews I’ve read I… Read more »

It’s a game Galliani plays during every Mercato. When did it happened last that we haven’t had a World class signing? He knows the best that we don’t have a World class left footed fullback, and have only 2 decent CB’s, and not enough creativity in midfield. That’s already 3 positions to sign, and Allegri still wants a box-to-box mid. So Galliani met with Cellino to not talk about either Nainggolan (box-to-box mid) or Astori (a CB that Allegri worked well with). Yeah, reasonable… Galliani says that we have to sell players, and it’s a numeric question. He’s got reason.… Read more »

“We already made a big signing in January when we brought Balotelli”
well that was in January, now its June and we may need few more. its your job to make big signings galliani.

johnp

I truly don’t understand why galliani doesn’t go for thiago alcantara… He should be number one priority. His release cause is like 90m and discounted for 18m, also has everything milan needs… Young, pace, creativity. I just don’t understand galliani promised allegri reinforcements when they decided to stay well where are they? We have just over a month before champions league

ladon

Just talk. no substance. This man is a major stumbling block for the progress of Milan. I hope the club changes hands sooner than i expect!

nick

@ladon…I totally agree.

People can say what they want about Luciano Moggi but he knows how to rebuild teams unlike Galliani who just throws anything at the club and hope for the best!

I hope he retires or leave soon. I’ve had enough of him really!

fiankidd

Well, that’s uncle fester for you!
I believe we will sign someone with good quality, but when and who?! Only God and him who know about this. Hope we sign the best player around for our budget of course.

johnp

Out: taiwo, didac, nocerino,Robinho, Antonini, flamini, and possibly boateng

In: keisuke Honda, poli, thiago alcantara and either astori or ogbonna and we have a great team for years to come

Juninho

God bless your innocence.

yourBoss

intead of flyin out for players, our CEO is flyin to Cagliari jus to play jokes with their president. last week was in Monte carlo and also not for transfer issues. this guy s aimless.

Nildinho

Honda, poli and astori or other really good cb is the very least we must buy just to be competitive. If we add tevez to the mix then its af very good market. Regarding the first three i dont care who leaves and i dont think it should matter since they are not very expensive players. If we cant buy poli (without selling four players!) we are not scudetto contenders and we dont belong in ucl. In my opinion bonera, robinho, traore, dida, taiwo and antonini must go no matter what Flamini, boateng, amelia, constant and zaccardo should be sold… Read more »

donVito

we must be realistic, milan are unwilling to spend big money. the biggest problem is the huge wage bill. traore, vila, taiwo, zaccardo, amelia, robinho, antonini, strasser have no reallistic future at the club and need to be offloaded as soon as possible. i am happy that tevez is not comming, therefore chanches of signing honda are improving. But my big concern is that if tevez won’t arrive that then milan will go and buy someone like matri or denis. That means more deadwood in near future. when pazzini recovers there will be no room for one of them and… Read more »

Rico

juventus are close on a 12m deal for tevez, it would be a shame if he goes to juve, he woud be the perfect robinho replacement

Kwabena Adu

Sky sports Italia has confirm the signing of Carlos Tevez by Juventus,Galliani will surely sign Matri for 15M whiles he could have sign Tevez for less.Barbera Berlusconi can do a better job than what Galliani is doing.

Pavel

For god sake.. Just bring Honda for 6 – 8m ,Poli, keep Faraone and take one quality central defender and we will be ready for next season.

Pato9

I think we we will get honda ,as milan’s interest in tevez stopped because of honda, and kaka is just rumours….
If we sign poli and give flamini a new contract we will be ok in midfield .
In defence the priority is a really good center back, to be either a starter or a really good back up.
Any more players coming in will be a bonus.

ladon

@kwabena Adu, that man Galiani is lld. He really needs to go.

EllO

We gonna play 4:3:1:2 HondA must come and one more player in this position ..We need real stopper too .

Jibola

Galliani honestly fooled himself by trying to interfere in Tevez deal few weeks ago showing some stupid messages on the phone to reporters. Why do that when he knew he would not buy him? Tevez will not betray me..blah blah, utter nonesense

c

We must buy Honda and try to get Thiago Alcantara now before United gets him and get Astori

ladon

Galiani should just accept defeat by juve. the first own goal by galiani was wasting our none eu sport on Amu. You buy players we don’t need. Bastorz salamon has not even gotten a chance to play and you are bringing another rookie to waste our none eu spot. Tevez will not betray me but you actually betrayed Tevez. Players should not do business with you anymore because you so incompetent. Buy good players you can’t. Sell the dead weights you have you can’t. All you do is fill the pages of sport dailies with nonesense and make loss for… Read more »

Uncle G always talk rubbish.
I think Milan dont have cash money on mercato and he know a lot.

Poor my Milan..:(

mainz

yeah milan got lot of players that’s average at their best

mainz

guys which do you find more annoying? that fact that milan chose not to sign quality players or refuses to promote their youth player that are better than some of it’s senior players

Luke

Tevez is a juventus player – stupid stupid Galliani for letting that happen. Tevez is an awesome player and will score a lot of goals.
