MILAN are believed to be interested in signing Axel Witsel and apparently they’re preparing an offer.
Massimiliano Allegri confirmed he still wants another midfielder of ‘quality’ in his squad and while it seems that Milan would sign the cheaper option between Aquilani and Rigoni, there are other names too.
According to Milannews.it and some other Italian websites, Milan are interested in Axel Witsel, the 23-year-old midfielder of Benfica who is expected to be sold this summer – only one year after arriving.
Milan appoint new athletic trainer manager
Genoa confirm Milan agreement for Acerbi
Witsel has a contract until 2016 with the Portuguese side but has been put on the market. Reports suggest that CEO Adriano Galliani has already phoned Benfica’s director of sport and former Milan man Manuel Rui Costa to make an inquiry about Witsel. He has learned that Wistel’s buy out clause is €35m.
Galliani, who admitted that Milan ‘really like Witsel’ a few weeks ago, doesn’t intend of course to pay that amount and but he’s reportedly ready to enter into serious negotiations with Benfica. Milan are apparently ready to offer Benfica €13 million + the services of left-back Taye Taiwo who spent the second half of the season on loan at QPR, and is not in the plans of Allegri. In addition, Milan will offer €2m of bonuses.
Milan were very close to signing Witsel last summer as Ariedo Braida has been following him for years. However, Milan decided to not sign the Belgian from Standard Liège, who is also wanted by Man United.
I hope it works, but only if we still get Nuri Sahin. Sahin is the man I want. And just as I write this, I read that Tuttosport says Milan and Inter will fight over Nuri Sahin. I think in this case, we should approach the player first – it’s not that hard to choose between champions league and europa league
What a joke! Last summer they could get him for less but no. Anyway he would be great signing, a Boateng type of player, probably would end up playin trequartista as we all know Allegri
I want to believe, but unfortunately I know it’s a bullcrap..
Better late than never, I hope that 13 million plus Taiwo will be enough…I hope that Rui Costa pulls some strings and helps us. We need him or Strootman, both of them would be fantastic. But this is great as well if it happens, just what we need, and no thanks to Rigoni…
i hope we get him.only becoz he missed a penalty in a friendly last summer we decided not to go for him atleast we cold sign then loan him!lol
with the same amount of money, i’d rather go for m’villa than him. witsel is probably at the same level as nainggolan.
Milan didnt sign him not bcos he missed a penalty. We didnt sign him bcos we dont want to spend. period.
We will sign rigoni,he is cheaper and more experienced, this allegri looking for…young players has no future in milan under allegri FACT!
hope he’ll in san siro next season. + dede n sahin will be complete.
It is not the issue of Allegri wanting old players but rather it is Mr G that goes around with his sick management policy of signing cheap or free out of contract players with little or notting to offer. At the end of the season, he will post a loss 67m after spending a combine 2m on sign on fees on 6 players. What a business model. Tell Allegri to make his wish and you will be suprised he will ask for Iniesta, Xavi, Fabregas, Song, Mata, Mvila etc.
Allegri prefers old players, this is fact!
I was hoping we got Witsel since last year for less than $10mill…. I always thought he was a good player…. We had the chance of signing a young player with potential to be great for less than 10mill last year and now that he prove to be good enough, we can’t afford him…. Maybe Galliani isn’t that much of a genius…. I’ve been a lifelong supporter of Milan… But maybe Berlusconi, Galliani, Milan need to realize that what worked in the 90’s wouldn’t work now… Money talks in this day and age!!! Everyone is losing more and more respect… Read more »
yer wat a joke, last year we were linkd wit him 10-15, look how dat turned out, this year 25-30m, wow looks like we r getting witsel. lol. please man dis is disgusting, rigoni, del piero, and som other out of contracts please thank u, love milan. amazzing transfer policy.
@ronaldinho 1992. If allegri likes old players den he shld av used more of d oldies like inzaghi and co. D problem is mr B and G.
Until the team is sold to an investor,we shd forget about being on the top again. Milan is dying in the hands of visionless and aimless people. Milan is dying.
