MASSIMILIANO ALLEGRI wants to hit 80 points at the old guard’s last game with the Rossoneri shirt.
Tomorrow’s game against Novara represents the end: the end of the season, the end of a cycle of many Milan players, who have been at the club for years and gave everything they could to the black & red shirt.
The fans of Milan arrived to training center Milanello this morning to say goodbye, but tomorrow there will be a celebration in their honour and Massimiliano Allegri will give the players one last appearance.
Gattuso: “I felt the need to leave”
Allegri: “Montolivo will join Milan”
“Today and tomorrow will be tough days as players are leaving the club who have made history with Milan winning everything and so there should be a party for these players. I want to thank them as well as they gave all their willingness and for the management of the changing room that’s very important,” Allegri said.
“You can’t fight time though and they’ll remain in the history of the club for what they did. Some will stay with the club, others will make other choices you need real personality to play for Milan; it’s a heavy shirt to wear. To stay and win for 10 years and this club, you need real mental strength. Tomorrow the season will end and a cycle will end with it as many important players will leave. We’ll have to get back by working.”
Moving on to talking about the league, the Milan coach said: “Credit to Juventus who had an extraordinary year and they deserve this title. We hope to close on 80 points but that doesn’t mean that this campaign was a failure. We won the title last year and tried to win it this year and we’ll be back next season competitive in Europe and in the league as well as in the Italian cup. The squad will need changing for next season and I would have liked to win as well as the players. Unfortunately only one team wins at a time.
“Alessandro Nesta will be on the bench tomorrow, he has a problem with his knee. Pippo Inzaghi will be on the bench as well and Djamel Mesbah and Gianluca Zambrotta will play at the back. Gattuso, Aquilani and Seedorf will play in the middle with Ibrahimovic and Cassano up front. Boateng will be playmaker.
“I’m extremely happy with my staff and have never complained about anyone. It was hard to win last year and it’ll be hard to win next season with Juventus as favorites. Inter will be reinforced. Napoli and Lazio will be in the fight and we’ll need to start off with the right mentality working better than this season,” he added.
Milan are already thinking about the next season after they confirmed free transfers of Bakaye Traoré and Riccardo Montolivo. Allegri met Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani last night to discuss the future.
“I had a lovely dinner with the President yesterday and it was a lovely evening. He’s in great form and will maintain the high level of the club. I left very happy. The evenings with the President are always pleasant. We didn’t speak of names as the season is not yet over. The President wants to maintain the team high level without losing the players that we have at the moment,” insisted the former coach of Cagliari Calcio.
On Andrea Pirlo’s comments on why he left last year, Allegri said: “I thank Pirlo for his willingness last season. I evaluate players when I have them available after that I’m not interested in what they say or do.”

Call it what it is, a failure. You didn’t win the league, you didn’t win the Coppa Italia, and you didn’t beat a Barcelona team that was at the end of it’s cycle (and it’s most desperate). Your tactics were rigid, inflexible, and unvaried. Your few deviations from your plan led to greater failures than they did successes. The medical problems are not your fault, but you certainly did little to help the situation. Your judgment in this area was not only suspect, it was downright deplorable. Pirlo left because you changed his role. He said it himself. He needed… Read more »
Is Allegri responsible for the terms of the players contract? Let’s just say for argument sake that Allegri wanted to use Pirlo is his preferred role. Would Galliani still renew Pirlo’s contract for 3yrs at his current salary? Is it not Milan’s policy to ONLY offer a 1yr contract extention to players over 30yrs old? Didn’t Pirlo have to change his role in the National team instead of playing as a deeplying player to accomodate Montolivo? Should every teams season be regarded as a failure because they didnt win a trophy? Was Ancelotti not rigid in his christmas tree formation… Read more »
Another Giancarlo head.
I think next season allegri will play a goalkeeper as trequartista. Allegri sould be fired and shot back to cagliari. He wants players like lazzari, montolivo, aquilani etc Allegri is LUCKY to have ibra on his team. Otherwise milan would play in serie B now. And people like you would blame anything but allegri.
Do you know who is a coach? CONTE LOOK AT WHAT SQAUD HE HAS, AND HES WINNING UNBEATEN SCUDETTO.
“Allegri did the best he could what he had availalble to him”
Nick please go and follow Giancarlo and commite suicide
honestly, you shouldnt joke about suicide.
i do not expect Pete to have said this..
@..milanfanatic..I am no Giancarlo thats for sure! But i just stated facts and you respond to me with ignorance!! Did Conte have 7-8 of his first team players out due to injury? The answer is NO! So how can you compare what Conte had to work with to what Allegri had to work with? Allegri had Cassano, Pato, Boateng, Aquilani, Nesta, Silva, MVB, Abate, & Abiatti out due to injuries, especially for the big games against Juve, Barcelona and other important games in the season!! How many injuries did Conte have to key players? NONE!! I dont mind constructive arguments… Read more »
shut up
really?ibitoye,d man do more dan enuf, make u no put all d blame on am.em get faults, but make we appreciate am & hope 4 beta next season.forza milan.
Mr Allegri is a man of character and respect. That’s why I appreciate him as a coach and a man! He does not stir up controversy or get into petty arguments!!! Pirlo should try to do the same!!
Forza Allegri!!Forza Milan!!!
@nick where do you get your jokes from ? It is Allegri who keeps talking about GHOST goal Injuries and Referees in every press meet.He is a damn loser trying to protect himself.Good Coaches are humble enough to accept defeat and move on not just cribbing over the same thing.Pirlo is talking after he accomplished something this season whereas Allegri hasn’t done anything so far so it’s better for him to save us some embarrassment.NICK don’t you feel bad because most of us here have learnt that you really don’t like Milan and are here to poke fun at the… Read more »
omg that guy is crazy
“I thank Pirlo for his willingness last season. I evaluate players when I have them available after that I’m not interested in what they say or do.”
KING ALLEGRI!!!
Kaladze announces his retirement!
Thanks for all the years you spend in our club!
How much would it cost to acquire Skrtl ? He is a strong CB and wants to leave Liverpool to play in CL.
I believe that either astori or ogbonna would be better as they are both younger and Italians.
adding the fact that skrtel is horrible
I hope what has happened over the course of this season and over the last few weeks helps allegri grow. All these legends leaving, the injuries over the course of the season, the failure to win the league and the quarterfinal ties with barca: these must assist him in becoming a better coach. He is still young, now that the senators are gone he will be one of the big men around, I hope he becomes more flexible coach and is faster to respond to what is happening on the pitch. squad rotation and improved pre season preparation and the… Read more »
@ Il Diavolo Lets keep our hopes high,Allegri can’t really complain about injuries or old players and GHOST whatever, He has a team talented enough to win the Serie A.I don’t understand how people complain about injuries although he had XI players to start a game.If you need the best players from the world all injury free and performing at their best then why do you need a COACH.Silvio’s younger girl friends can take care of the team. The challenge for any coach is to bring out the best in his players through motivation and undivided attention.Do you think Pato &… Read more »
Allegri is better than Mourinho. He can optimize the manifest in the squad. Give him more quality players or more budget to spend, and we’ll conquer the world… Hail Allegri!!!
please stop complaining about rigid and defesiVE tactic he just lacks of option.
ancelotti biography(wikipedia):
The following season, Ancelotti, who was heavily criticized by club owner Silvio Berlusconi due to his defensive tactics, was able to adopt a creative play in Milan while making several roster changes.
allegri is still growing as coach…
FORZA MILAN FORZA ALLEGRI!!!!!!
why is everyone askng for skrtel??
the brainless skrtel to replace the legend nesta
skrtel almost always gets owned by good forwards.
he is physically strong, good in air, very agressive and tactically and technically dumb as a rat.
will get owned in serie a even by the lesser teams.
Defenders in EPL are not that good with the exception of kompany, vidic while both of them are inferior to our THIAGO.
Is that the pete on twitter I know? Well, you can blame Allegri for as long as you want. Thats none of our business. Allegri has done a great job this season, take it or leave it. Tactics are Rigid? And most of you suggests we get Capello, right? How do you expect him to play entertaining football when all the Midfielders at his disposal are not technically gifted? You want to entertain with Muntari? MvB? Nocerino? Gattuso? Seedorf? Ambrosini? Or who? They are muscular players! If you read Allegri’s recent comment, he said, We are gonna get a more… Read more »
well he didn’t have the guts to switch from a 4-3-1-2, other formations wouldn’t have required 3 centre mids. Why did he never try a 4-4-2 using El Shaarawy and Robinho as wingers? Why didn’t he try a 4-2-3-1 with El Shaarawy in the hole and Robinho and Emanuelson as wingers? and thats before Cassano and Merkel came back, why didn’t he try Cassano as an attacking midfielder, why didn’t he give Merkel more of a chance?
people, why should we listen to pirlo? the dude is not a milan player now. what he has said recently is for destructing milan’s harmony. do you know why he looks good on midfields? because there are players with great stamina and never-give-up spirit like gattuso in milan and now vidal in juventus who cover his laziness on the pitch. otherwise, pirlo is just pirlo…the same mediocre midfielder brought in from inter. if i were a milan player, i will kick the ball as hard as i can to his face for making him shut up for the next season.
the only mistake from allegri in serie A this season is…he has made milan lose points especially when milan meet big teams. no more excuses that the referees have involved in the results. please be more creative and adaptive to change the formation, max allegri. you cannot compete at any levels (serie A, CL, etc.) if you keep using the same formation, 4-3-1-2.
Someone put a price on his head please, hes slowly destroyes the club that means the world to me.
what the heck is wrong with these people..take a look at Juve squad and Milan squad..they have marchisio(technically gifted) we have nocerino, they have pirlo we have van bommel who is more muscles than creativity, they have vidal we have muntari(not as good as vidal technically)?is it fair you brainles*s fans?I ll agree with you all allegri-haters when players like Sahin and Ganso join Milan and we still end-up like this.I want to see your face when Allegri wins us trophies next season.
@MILANISTA93 you are out of your brains,If you compare player to player ,Guess Milan has the most recognized of the lot.Although the competition is between Milan and the rest in Serie A.The problem here is not the players performing It’s about how they are managed.Milan players have been killed in practice hence they don’t have much to play for in the real games.Players have one and only option given by Allegri and when they are out of it,We are finished.Even when we have had players at our disposal. Milan have never held the game by the throat and finished it.They… Read more »
Then how did we won last season scudetto with the same coach, same players(except pirlo mainly injured last season)?you have big question to answer bro..come on..its down to the players macho blake..after Juve bought Vidal and Pirlo they become competitive again..Why we end up like this?its because we have more muscles than brain in our squad.FACE THE FACTS!!
Why don’t you go support Juve? Yeah! They are Unbeaten, right? Looser!!!
This guy really need some help. He’s sick in the brain!
Does he even watch Milan matches?
Advising someone to go and commit suicide when you can’t even create an Ant?
Why are people hating on him while we finished second with a lot of players out this season. We could have won it if it wasnt for the mistakes made but thats only human. Berlusconi asked if we could play like barca and allegri responded that we got other type of players. So I think berlusconi will focus on those kind of players he thinks are good for barca style so technical players. And although I dont think our current playing style is attractive it still has resulted in most goals scored in serie a.
Yo Don It’s not about finishing first or second. It’s about how we performed the whole season. Just a couple of games One against Barca and the other against Arsenal can we be proud of the whole season. To lose against Fiorentina or Inter or Juve or Napoli isn’t a crime and i understand it’s human but where is the spirit of winning what happened to the winner attitude and mentality which Milan is known for,Silvio wants Milan to play like Barca by that he means Total disciplined attractive Football. His idea is to attract attention from all over the world.Even if the… Read more »
I do think his relationship with the players is more professional than Ancelotti for example when the team was a family like you can see now that all the senators all still thanking him. Which can be a reason the players aren’t full of passion because allegri cant motivate them good enough
Don the senators need no motivation cuz they’ve seen it all the BIGGER stage plus no amount of motivation can help their tired legs and bones. The new ones are really hungry for success. They will credit Ancelotti cus he brought them up…Nocerino, Prince, Mesbah and the like would hail Allegri some time to come. so u see it’s only normal and don’t blow it out of proportion if they do so.
Not a failure? Losing is a failure Max you idiot. FIRE ALLEGRI NOW!
i really hoping that milan buy kagawa and eiji kawashima(3rd goalkeeper)with kagawa as trequartista and boateng montolivo nocerino in mf.its good 4 economic reasons too since kagawa wudnt be too expensive and wud attracted a lot of sponsors and fans from asia
Completely agree. If Kagawa came to Milan, he would do a world of wonders here. First off, if Kagawa plays trequartista, the weight of going forward for the fullbacks will be cut as Kagawa drifts all over the place, and fast too. He’s like another Kaka. Second, he would combine well with Cassano and Ibra. If Kagawa comes, Ganso can still come. Allegri can adjust Kagawa to play as a second striker like Robinho as he still has all the qualities of a good striker. I’d say sell Robinho and buy Kagawa. Kagawa is probably gonna be like 15 as… Read more »
Bring in ganso, tevez and a good goal keeper and we re ready to go.
[…] Allegri: “This campaign was not a failure” Gattuso: “I felt the need to leave” […]
I always knew we would regret losing pirlo- Allegri, you need to be flogged! Let’s move on though. Forza milan!
Those hailing ALLEGRI last year are the same people calling for his HEAD. What went wrong? What has change? And are these suppose changes Allegri’s fault? People should really do critical analysis before passing judgment. I wont blame Allegri for anything but i will blame the WHOLE TEAM of which Allegri is part even if i am suppose to blame. There’s no need for this blame game thing because the season was not a failure…but as for Pirlo, he can say whatever we don’t give a rat ass.
