Marco Pellegrino has put pen to paper and signed a deal with the Rossoneri.

After loaning Matteo Gabbia to Villarreal, Milan were looking to add another central defender to the squad of Stefano Pioli and today they completed the deal for 21-year-old Argentine Pellegrino.

Marco costs Milan €3.5m plus €2m of bonuses, while the Rossoneri will also give Platense 10% of the capital gain of a future transfer. The request of Platense was initially higher but Furlani managed to lower the fee.

“Milan is delighted to announce the signing of Marco Pellegrino on a permanent transfer from Club Atlético Platense. The Argentinian defender has signed a contract with the Club until 30 June 2028,” a statement on the website of the Diavolo reads.

“Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 18 July 2002, Marco developed in the youth ranks of Platense, for whom he made his first-team debut on 23 March 2023 and scored once in 17 appearances.

“Marco Pellegrino will wear the number 31 shirt.” Pellegrino is the 9th summer signing, after Marco Sportiello, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Luka Romero, Christian Pulisic, Tijjani Reijnders, Noah Okafor, Samuel Chukwueze and Yunus Musah.

Pellegrino has an Italian passport so he does not count as a non-EU player. This means that Milan still have a slot to fill until the mercato shuts down on September 1st. A striker is the target.

Hopefully our strategy works well. this kid wont play much unless someone gets injured. I see him playing a bit, progressing through the season and be ready next year.
By then Kjaer will be out and Gabbia (if he has a good season and play good minutes) back.
We’ll have Gabbia, Tomori, Thiaw and Pellegrino as CB. Throw in Kalulu sometimes and in a perfect world, we should be good.
