Olivier Giroud spoke to the press after the Barcelona match.

Milan struggled greatly against Barcelona in the last pre-season friendly of the United States tour, and Olivier Giroud in particular barely touched the ball and didn’t have any notable scoring chances.

The Rossoneri are now on their way back to Italy and will continue to train.

“My feeling is good but I was a little fatigued in the game because Barcelona, as we all know, make teams run a lot,” Oli told MilanTV. “I think that we can still improve, our pressing game at times, and also stay a little more compact and deep in these types of games.

But we will get better and I’m really happy with the new guys who have integrated into the group well. They have a great mentality and I think today efficiency made the difference. Our final ball could have been a bit more accurate, better decision making and even our finishing, but 1-0 is a shame. We should have got a draw. There is still time to prepare and be even better.”

On the new players: “Tijjani did really well. I think with the new players, like Okafor and Chukwueze, we are stronger than last season. We need to simply just play together more on the pitch with our mentality and our style of play.”

On if Milan are favorites for the Scudetto: “No, I think there will be five or six teams fighting for the Scudetto, like last season or two years ago, with Napoli, Inter, Juventus and also the two teams from Rome. It’s going to be hard, but we are eager to go.”
