Report: Villarreal interested in Gabbia but no offer has been made yet, operation not related to Chukwueze

Matteo Gabbia is someone that interests Villarreal.

Gabbia found it hard to get playing time last season, as he was behind Fikayo Tomori, Pierre Kalulu, Simon Kjær and Malick Thiaw in the pecking order.

This situation is not expected to change in the upcoming season and therefore, Matteo, who grew up in the youth sector of the Rossoneri, could find himself in another team next year.

As reported by, Villarreal have shown interest in Gabbia. Milan and Villarreal have been in close talks for weeks now as they negotiated for Arnaut Danjuma (who chose to go to Everton) and of course for Samuel Chukwueze who next week will join Milan for €20m plus €8m bonuses.

Antonio Vitiello claims that while the interest is there, no official offer has been made for the center-back of Milan. In addition, Vitiello makes it clear that despite what Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Italia is reporting, to his understanding the possible Gabbia transfer is not related to the Chukwueze deal.

Nicolò Schira meanwhile reports that Divock Origi has been offered to Villarreal. The striker is not in Milan’s plans and the Spanish club wanted to sign him last summer as a free agent.
