Simon Kjær spoke briefly after Milan’s 3-0 defeat to PSV in a friendly.

Serie A restarts next Wednesday after the World Cup break, and if the four friendlies match Milan had during it are any indication – Milan are far from ready.

Last night the boys of Stefano Pioli were hammered 3-0 by PSV Eindhoven, playing an embarrassing game defensively and offensively, deservedly losing to Ruud van Nistelrooy’s exciting side.

Guus Til (8′) and Noni Madueke (21′, 56′) scored the goals, giving Milan their 3rd defeat in a row after losing 2-1 to Arsenal and 4-1 to Liverpool earlier this month. The Diavolo gave the fans plenty of reasons to be worried ahead of the Salernitana game away from home on January 4th.

“There are many things we have to improve. Today, we lost because we made too many errors. We all have to step up and Mister Pioli will take care of the rest,” Kjær told MilanTV after the game.

How do you rate the stop?
“It’s been a very strange period including for myself after linking up with the squad on the 15th. It’s peculiar to be back, everything seems new. This lay-off during the season was unprecedented. However, I think we had a good project, it’s a pity about today’s result and those in Dubai. But things can only pick up from here. It’s paramount to get off to a positive way on the 4th on January as we will play every three days after that. The Coach will need everyone’s efforts, it will be very intense after a hiatus that had never taken place. I’m confident the squad is on a good track.

How is your condition?
“I am feeling good and I keep improving, always seeking my own path. 2022 has been a great year and a nice journey for the Club but physically and mentally, it’s been the most challenging of my career. But I am in a great team and club who’ve never abandoned me. All I need to do is keep working hard.”

Speaking to Sky Italia, the Dane center back said: “We made too many technical mistakes, it’s not what we wanted. We’ll improve by the 4th of January. It’s not a question of concentration or maturity, I saw the whole team working in all the training sessions. In the last three games we lost, this will be changed.”

On the next games: “We’ll do everything to get as many points as possible. We still have everything to play for, we are Milan, we won the Scudetto this year, I’m sure the fans will be with us until the end.”
