Ciprian Tătăruşanu was happy with his assist as Milan beat Monza 4-1.

Everyone was waiting for the return of Mike Maignan but earlier this week it was announced that the goalkeeper suffered a new injury in training and will only return to Milan action in 2023.

And so, Ciprian Tătăruşanu’s time between the sticks of Milan continued this evening when the Diavolo hosted Monza.

Tătăruşanu could have done better on Monza’s goal in the 70′ minute, but overall played a good match with several important saves and one assist for Brahim Díaz in the 16′ minute, as his long ball resulted in the Spaniard running through Monza’s entire half to score.

Brahim Díaz (16′, 41′), Divock Origi (66′), Filippo Ranocchia (70′) and Rafael Leão (84′) were on target, as Milan got 3 points.

“The criticism I’ve faced in recent weeks? In football, also for the team, there will be positive and negative remarks. The best response is on the pitch and today I showed what I can do,” Tătăruşanu told DAZN.

On the assist to Brahim: “It’s the first assist I’ve made, so I’m even happier. With this pass we unlocked the game and got an important win.”

On Maignan: “There is a good relationship between us, we talk after games and also in training. He was in great shape, so I’m sorry for him.”

Speaking to MilanTV, Tata said: “My two saves on Carlos Augusto and Andrea Carboni? For me, it wasn’t easy to return to playing after one year but little by little I am getting back to match fitness and my relationship with the team on the pitch is improving. And as a result, I feel much better.”

On the assist to Brahim: “We know the way we want to play and work hard in training to implement the ideas. I am happy that I set-up the opening goal. But let’s be honest: Brahim Díaz did more than I did [smiles].”

On the news of Maignan’s injury: “Playing again felt normal as I had played the last five games but I feel sorry for Mike for sustaining an injury which must be hard to take. But I was ready to be called upon and I am happy that the team wins when I play.”

On Tuesday: “We start thinking about Zagreb tomorrow. Today, we want to celebrate the win because we deserve it after playing such a great game. Just like in Serie A, there are no easy games in the Champions League but we want to come away with a good result on Tuesday in Croatia.”
