Matteo Gabbia will leave the club the moment a new defender is signed.

The Serie A season starts in exactly 2 weeks from today and Paolo Maldini & Frederic Massara are trying to complete the squad of coach Stefano Pioli.

After signing Divock Origi and finalizing the Charles De Ketelaere deal, Milan are now targeting a defender and a midfielder.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Italia on Saturday evening, once a new center back joins the club, Matteo Gabbia will leave to join Sampdoria on loan. In fact, the 22-year-old has already spoken to Marco Giampaolo and Sporting Director Daniele Faggiano and everything is agreed between all the parties.

Gabbia will look to play with more consistently and continue to grow, as playing time will likely be limited with Pierre Kalulu, Fikayo Tomori, Simon Kjær and another defender in the squad. Matteo is a product of Milan’s youth sector and he’s been involved in pre-season, looking decent.

Di Marzio reports that Japhet Tanganga of Tottenham is the guy Maldini and Massara want to strengthen the defense. The 23-year-old has been a target of the club for several weeks and according to multiple sources, they are trying to get the player on loan with option to buy next summer.

After the exit of Alessio Romagnoli on a free transfer, it’ll be the turn of Gabbia to leave.

N’Dicka, bro… stop just reading transfer news and watch a game or 2. Better than Botman, stronger than Botman, more versetile than Botman.

What’s make him better than Gabbia, he ain’t playing that much, Gabbia 22, he’s 23

Just sign Mattia Viti from empoli (on loan with obligation/option) to fill up the 4 Italian association homegrown players quota required for UCL registration. For now, milan only have mirante, florenzi and tonali. We also only have 3 youth products, 2 if gabbia leaves (calabria, pobega) to fill the minimum quota of 4 players. If we dont fill these positions, it may seriously undermine our chance in UCL. Furthermore, UEFA only allows 17 non home grown players to be registered and at the moment, we are exceeding this limit. So there is also a need for milan to sell /… Read more »
