Ignazio Abate has been promoted to the Primavera team following his success with the under 16 side.

While Milan youth products, such as Davide Calabria, Gigio Donnarumma, Tommaso Pobega, Manuel Locatelli and others, have found success at the top levels of football in recent years, the Primavera of Milan hasn’t been considered as one of the top team for a while.

Last season in the Campionato Primavera, the Milan team finished in 13th place and the year before that they finished in 10th. The club decided it’s time for a change and named a new coach.

“Milan announces that Ignazio Abate will be the new head coach of the Primavera,” a statement reads. “Abate, who developed as a player in Milan’s youth setup, started his coaching career last season with the Rossoneri’s U16 team, who he led to the Scudetto final.

“The Club wishes Ignazio the best of luck in his new role.”
