Paolo Scaroni briefly spoke to il Corriere della Sera about the renewals of Maldini and Massara.
On Friday evening, Milan formalized the long-awaited renewals of Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara.
Many had doubts and mainly criticism over how the Rossoneri handled the month of June, as Maldini and Massara renewed on the last day of their contracts, while other clubs have swooped in for the Diavolo transfer targets, namely Sven Botman and Renato Sanches.
Milan President Paolo Scaroni spoke to il Corriere della Sera about the situation saying: “Perhaps there has been too much talk, but we’ve never stopped: the whole club has remained focused on the mercato and on acquiring important commercial partnerships.” Scaroni is among other things referring to the renewal with PUMA for the next 5 years for €30m per season.
Scaroni added: “I always said we were confident that Maldini and Massara would continue their valuable work. Today we are all very convinced to continue the journey together, to enhance the sporting results achieved and to move forward to achieve new ones. Our club has great professionalism, we are a solid company, with shareholders that support us and certainly Paolo and Ricky represent our strength.”
Tomorrow (Monday), the pre-season of the Diavolo starts officially at Milanello with the first training session of the new campaign. Maldini, Massara and Scaroni will most likely be there.
