Brahim Díaz was happy after making the impact off the bench to win Milan the Derby della Madonnina.

Brahim’s recent performances have been rather subpar and so coach Stefano Pioli chose to start him on the bench in today’s Derby della Madonnina.

However, once Brahim came off the bench to replace the disappointing Franck Kessié in the 58′ minute, things started looking better for the Rossoneri, who up until that moment were second best in everything against Inter.

Brahim played a role in both goals as Olivier Giroud’s brace (75′ and 78′) erased an Ivan Perišić (38′) goal to bring the Derby to Milan and get the Diavolo a win.

“I’m delighted with what we did today in a difficult match. They are a strong team but we performed better in the second half and I think those who came on did really well but those who started tired out Inter’s players and I think we all performed well tonight,” Brahim told MilanTV, as Sandro Tonali walked passed him in the mixed zone.

“It was a difficult match but I think we deserved the result from this match. I’m very happy because Sandro passed me the ball and then we scored with Giroud.”

On the win: “I think we’d played very well against Spezia and Juventus and we’d have deserved more. But we’re still there, we’ll continue fighting for the Scudetto because I believe we’re a very talented team and have a strong winning spirit. With the fans at our side, I’m confident the second half of the season will be great.”
