Milan bought one 18-year-old and said goodbye to three players.

The Rossoneri are currently in third place in Serie A, and despite the (failed) attempts of the management to get players like Lille’s Sven Botman and Renato Sanches, the squad of Stefano Pioli has stayed pretty much the same, with the exception of four transfers that were completed.

18-year-old Marko Lazetić joined from Crvena zvezda to act as the third-choice striker behind Zlatan Ibrahimović and Olivier Giroud. Other than the Serbian, no one arrived.

The full list of arrivals can be found below, with the transfer fees as they were reported in the media:

Milan sent away three players: Andrea Conti headed to Sampdoria to try and revive his career, while the loan of Pietro Pellegri was cut short and he was sent from Monaco to Torino. Finally, 4th choice goalkeeper Alessandro Plizzari went to Lecce on loan to be their back-up goalie. Samu Castillejo nearly left and then stayed and then nearly then and then stayed, so he remains in the squad.

The full list of exits can be found below, with the transfer fees as they were reported in the media:

Let’s hope that we will secure the top 4 finish, nobody thinks about the title anymore after this transfer market ….. if we are realistic and reasonable.

SJF

Your right. After spezia result and this mercato, we have fallen further behind.
Our owners have no interest in winning Serie A, just balancing books.

Total failure market for incoming and outgoing players.

Top 4 will be a success now.

Sure lets just give Kessie, Romagnoli etc to Juve and Inter.

We are in the business of “Capital Gains”
Sport doesn’t matter, never mind pride

Rossi

This is not a football club any more, its just a business model. The owneres of the club have zero football ambitions. Top 4 for them means just another 50mil bucks in their pocket.

Ashraf

That’s why they bought milan buy cheap players +cheap salaries and sell for profit + that 50ml from cl shame for Maldini who just care few millions to lie to the fans

I’ve been realistic with our squad from the beginning of the season, but oh boy…..this mercato is really sucks.
i wouldn’t dare hoping for the next one to be a good one

Raven

I can’t remember such a lazy mercato…

Again, didn’t we had Roback and Colombo?

I think we are OK but there is always room for improvement, come on!

SJF

Colombo is the future!!

Why we need Lazetic? I mean Pellegri was a terrible signing and this guy is worse.

Raven

Cutrone was the future. We need to live in the present. It’s fine to have youth project, but Milan is not a place for players to become professional . We need men! Tonalli Donnarumma Leao are on a different league, those are the youngsters we need.

SOHEIL

We need to live in present. This kind of thinking got us in the current place. Losing Cutrone, Andre Silva, Paqueta, Piatek, Hauge & etc and relying on a 75 years old attacking combination.

I don’t wanna fight again but we need to think about present and future. The problem is that our management doesn’t sign young players for future. They sign them so they can sell them for small Capital gain. Soon young players would understand this and they will never join us.

Raven

Partially agree. Cutrone is meh, he lacks the technique a good sale. Andre Silva was a ticking bomb, he wasn’t scoring, we got Ante Rebic who fixed our LW and is probably our main ST for the next season. Look for Milan stats when he is deployed as a CF, his pressure game is not matched by anyone on the team. Paqueta nearly had a heart attack because he didn’t played. He deserved more chances but that attitude is garbage. I think he was handled badly tho… Piatek? A good example.of why not pay for overrated players. Hauge one trick… Read more »

good comment. we need new coach

Raven

No no and no.

We need a owner who is ready to spend.

SOHEIL

I judge players base on what they did in Milan Jersey not after or before that. Cutrone has the highest minutes/goal ratio in recent years. Even better than Ibra. He isn’t an amazing player but in Milan Jersey he gave his heart and that’s what makes him a good example of players you should never sell (Ambrosini, Abbiati, Kaladze are examples if players that only were and are great when they played for Milan.) Hauge isn’t a one trick pony but evenif he is, I can mention lot’s of players that were and also were great. Robben, SES &… Paqueta… Read more »

Look at the stats, don’t be romantic about the idea of youngsters. If they don’t have what it takes they need to be sold. Only Silva and Paqueta deserved to stay. Locatelli worth the gamble but he was green back then. Milan is not a training ground for kids, this is a prestigeous club, the elite of Europe. Sleep with kids and your bed will always be wet. Loyalty is nowhere to be seen in modern football. Honestly can’t agree with you, we have 4 starters for the 9 role. Ibra, Giroud, Leao and Rebic. It’s up to Pioli to… Read more »

Look at the stats: Cutrone scored one goal every 170 minutes he played for Milan. Cutrone scored one goal every 119 minutes when he started the games. (check Transfermarket, You can easily check the stats) & All this stats are from eras before Pioli which you know we mostly played shitty football. Also he played lot’s of rino’s era as LW. Stats Don’t lie. The kid loved milan and he worked his ass off to score for us. Base on “Stats” he would have scored 15 to 25 goals each season for us if we trusted him. We destroyed his… Read more »

Soheil what are you talking about? 1400 minutes 3 goals and 2 assist. That’s why he got sold, that’s why he keeps failing. And you say Ibra is bad when he scores every 110 minute? Just because according to you he fails more than he scores? Even if Rino used him as LW that was his best season. That’s why they offloaded Silva, because he scored more than our best attacker. Stars don’t lie, you need to check your facts pal. Use WhoScored. Cutrone loved Milan and I loved his grinta I was against the sale of Cutrone, Silva and… Read more »

I guess it is really that difficult for you to read stats.

He scored every 225 minutes.

Get your facts right!

You know that he played also other games than Serie A? Euro league and cups?

Raven

FFS pal… I can’t , I just can’t

SOHEIL

He played 92 games for Milan.
27 goals & 9 assists
56 starts & 18 goals

Yeah his numbers solely on Serie A isn’t great because as you know he played his last season as LW not the actual striker

Which of our youngsters scored this many goals in last 10 years?

The numbers are in front of you. Yet… Take care

Dude, EL doesn’t matter when the goal is CL. There is a reason why he was sold. A fool paid a fortune for him. He had just one season, motivated by Rino. I shared the stats for his last season at milan, he is a player for serie B at best. I’m not debating on Cutrone anymore. I give you the reasons why he was sold. 1400 minutes and just 3 goals, certainly chances were given. The same goes for Ibra I made the most ridiculous comparison and the man keeps up with probably the second best ST in the… Read more »

So facts aren’t facts if you don’t like them? Daniel maldini scored one goal in 80 minutes this season. So he is the best player in world? Ibra is finished because he can’t stay fit. It’s not really hard to understand. Even if he scores a goal every 30 minutes it doesn’t matter because he can play 10 games a season. You want real ibra stats? He missed more than half the season. Projecting yourself uh? No point talking to the wall

Rossi

Are you really trying to compare Ibra with Haland mate? Haland has 23goals in 20 games. Thats almost 2 times more than Ibras 8goals in 19games. Haland has more assists as well, also stats dont show you the work rate that players put on the field. Haland runs like e horse, while Ibra needs other players in the team to run for him. I know some people here idolize Ibra, but for real there is no comparison between him and Halland. Haland is on another level or two.

Raven

My point precisely compare Ibra to the elite and you can see that the man performs! You can compare old and injured Ibra and still keeps up with Haaland that speaks a lot about the ignorance of some fans who use him as a scapegoat.

Rossi

Where does he keeps up with Haland ? In the stats that you yourself posted, Haland is better in everything. He has also scored and assisted x3 more than Ibra, its not even a compariosn between the two. You are in denial and you are calling me ignorant. I checked the ratings on some other strikers in Italy from our competitors, like Dzeko, Abraham, Zapata, Osimeh, Imobile.. They are all above Ibra. They have scored more goals as well. So he is not on pair even with those players let alone Haland.

Raven

Accuracy, we are debating on accuracy pal, improve your reading comprehension please.

Lol? I never mentioned you, I said Ignorance and you said here I am wtf?

If you use him as a scapegoat, yes, you are ignorant. Ibra is the least of our problems.

Rossi

In accuarcy again Haland is two times more accurate, so no matter how you twist it, he is not on pair with Haland, its not even close. “Ibra is the least of our problems” lol. We have the weakest CF from all the top teams in Seria A and the web page that you posted only confirms that lol. Talking about being ignorant.

Raven

Two times.. FFS, now I understand better the reasoning.

Rossi

Well you can’t just ignore the stats that you don’t like. I see above you are doing the same with Cutrone stats in Milan… So i rest my case. Have a nice day.

SOHEIL

Finally someone understand it. I never said Cutrone should be our striker. I said our stats are so bad that even Cutrone stats from two years ago are better than this. They say he was bad so we sold him. Ok. Understandble. But our current attack is even worse. Our top scorer only scored 8 goals. I don’t care if he scored evey 5 minutes. It’s fucking 8 I said ibra kills opportunities. I didn’t mean in front of goal. I meant in team movements. He can’t run. He can’t press. Yeah he is amazing goal scorer when he is… Read more »

Raven

It’s fucking eight every 110 minutes, who do you want? Haaland? Are we on 10th place? No! Because we don’t rely on Ibra like you want to claim. I give you facts and you don’t care you don’t see reasons because it doesn’t fit your crystal ball football analyst agenda.

I can do a little bit of research and find prestigious strikers who have less goal per match ratio than 40yo Ibra. But it’s a lost case. So we disagree.

SOHEIL

Find a topteam that it’s main striker scored 8 goals then we can talk! It’s not hard to understand that goal per game doesn’t matter if you are in hospital. You can only play one game, score 3 goals and have goal per minutes of 30. Yet you are still a loser in hospital. You asked for stats, I gave you stats. You realize it’s against your agenda so you filtered it in your favor. It’s a lost cause. I said it hundreds of times. Mediocre fans would settle for mediocrity. 40 years striker with 8 goals is a mid… Read more »

Ibra is amazing if he stays healthy and we both know it’s not gonna happen. Who can say anything bad about Ibra abilities. But he is 40 years old. He is slow. He kills opportunities. You yourself admit that when we play Rebic is striker, we are more mobile. That’s what I’m talking about. Stats aren’t eveything. Just look at our games. Everytime Ibra and giroud play, Diaz, Saele and even Rebic & Leao play worse. The reason is that playing a towering striker is so much in the past. Modern football isn’t about just strikers scoring goals. You said… Read more »

This management is cheap, so Ibra is a perfect fit, even if he is injured half of the fixtures.

SOHEIL

Our team scores when we play with Rebic up front. Doesn’t matter who does it. And he isn’t even sn striker. That show’s how bad are our actual strikers. Playing with 40 & 35 years old strikers in modern football is like playing with one less player. You mentioned Porto in your comment. Just look at one of their league games and see what Taremi & Diaz are doing (yeah I know they sold him). The press & constant movements between lines. While other clubs were landing our targets like Faivre, Ikone, Kulusevski, Ndombele.. we couldnt even land a good player on loan deal. On top of that we even lost our most promising premievera player Kerkez. But we made a small capital gain, so it’s all good for Eliot.

Milan management is a joker
they are full drama
if the result goes wrong they will feel the pain more than I will
the Alveres from Argentina who was discovered by milan was signed by man city for 14m
we depends on 41 years old striker
we cant even get a defender to replace our injured defender
so many lies deceit and pretending to the fans
we are not serious
like I said they will cry before I do when we loses

Milanellofm

Any hope of winning the scudetto faded in my eyes…. Now I’m just hoping we finish top 4. Everyone around us got stronger and while there’s news that we will have a big summer market what about winning the scudetto now? What if we don’t finish top 4 and all our summer plans go down the drain? I hope this doesn’t bite us in the ass because we still do have a competitive team but we’re missing that playmaker only hope is Diaz finds form like he did in the first 10 games

Ted

What mercato?

Meanwhile Juve bought Dusan, Zakaria, and Gatti….
Dusan I get it, out of our reach, but Zakaria could have taken over from Kessie, and Gatti could have been a very good CB depth

Pioli is frustrating.

Trust me, there are not many coaches who would take this team. No budget and we giveaway players because is smarter to lose them for 3 million and then replace it for 40m. This will be very hypocrite as I don’t buy any merchandise or have the chance to visit San Siro. But if we lose Frank and Alessio Curva Sud must boicott the purchase of season tickets. Juve is under the radar for their fishy transfers, what about PSG, Man City? What about the super league?

I understand Milan’s stance on the salary cap, Premier League and PetroEuros área destroying the business but it’s all allowed by UEFA, so we either look for a big spender or we accept to be a EL team with aspirations of CL.

I said it before and now I’ll say it again. Maldini you are being used to wash the face of Elliot, you either talk like the captain you are or you will also be the cancer of this team.

maldini was always a company man. that’s why ultras had beef with him. he still is and he’s a face of this management. he has the most to loose. pioli is the same, just a company man, don’t rock the boat. but fans are waking up, hopefully.

what convinced Maldini to go back to milan, because the owner share the same visions with him. Remember Maldini rejected to be part of milan after retired in Li‘s era. He mentioned that he is not conviced with Li‘s project.
Now maldini is part of management, and you keep blaming just the owner for all this mess??Are you serious mate?? Owner and Management must have same vision in order to work properly. Otherwise it would be like Bobans case. He didn‘t agree with Gazidis, he get fired!!
Elliot and management are one part. The mess is on them both!!

At least, the project is better than what we had for the past decade. I would say still not an ideal one but a better one. I would prefer an owner who would spend. But I’d much prefer the team to get the result. At least we are in CL. You can’t just make a team to go from barely Europa to title in 1 season? Do you know how many seasons it took Klop to get that league title? 5 seasons. You need to give our management a chance. This is season 2. We already made CL on first… Read more »

What project?Capital gain? Last year milan lost best players for free, this season another best players will probably leave for free. They left void in the team, the limited budget milan have will be used for the replacement. It means miln will never strengthen the squad, just keep reseting. The area where milan really need improvement such as RW will be addresed only with tiny budget (<5m—> messias) imagine Donna stays, 15m for maignan for proper RW. Milan can‘t even dump Castillejo, but keep losing best player for free. What kind of project are you talking about? I will support… Read more »

I never said it? It’s your own interpretation. Moreover most of them except Mike, have been in Milan since previous seasons. What did we get this season Ballo, Messias, Florenzi, Giroud while losing Hakan and Donna for free. Are they really an upgrade to a team who participated in CL or just another nice to have players?
Mike is replacement of Donna (dig a hole and close a hole mode)

Red and Black

We don’t have the revenues like EPL teams. We are also trying to build a stadium which will make more revenue.

Red and Black

When player hold you for ransom, either you over pay them or let them go. There is nothing you can do about. It is a business after all. Less players are having pride in the team they love: Maldini, Totti, players will chose mostly where it pays the most, it’s their career.

sebs

Exactly, it is just business, but the management did very bad business. I am not saying we should keep any players if the don’t want to stay. But losing them for free just because salary cap is just ridiculous. We don’t have any additional budget to strengthen the squad. That is my point. I don’t expect big star signing or instant success, but please have clear plan to make squad better and stronger not just sign unknown affordable players or another bench warmers Btw, Ibrajury prone 41yo hold the club for ransom as well, 7m per year and a lot… Read more »
