Rafael Leão will miss the game against Liverpool through injury, while Pietro Pellegri is also out with a muscle injury.
Milan beat Salernitana 2-0 on Saturday afternoon to climb to the first place in the standings (following Napoli’s defeat to Atalanta), but they lost two players to injuries during the game.
Pietro Pellegri left the pitch with an injury already after 15 minutes, while Rafael Leão was subbed out on half time and later coach Pioli explained that it was due to a knock he took. Today, their conditions were made clear.
As reported by Milannews.it and by others, the tests Pellegri underwent confirmed the presence of a lesion to the adductor muscle of his right thigh. A new check is expected in about 10 days, but it’s obvious the player, who has a rich history of injuries, is going to be out for long.
As for Leão, he took a severe muscle contusion to his right thigh, and this trauma caused a small hamstring injury. Recovery times are still unknown, but he’ll certainly miss the Liverpool game.

I think at this juncture , I seriously recommend a panel to be set up to understand what’s responsible for this incessant injury we are being plagued by. What’s realy going on ? Upon all the precautions made in the last match !!!! Theo Hernendex too is down with cold. At this point, winning against Liverpool is looking like a mirage unless there are surprises or upset.
They really do need to investigate Milan lab. It is supposed to monitor players fitness and strength in order to guide the manager. The fitness programmes clearly are not working. There is also the fact Milan have signed many older or injury prone players for cheap. When those guys cant play regularly it puts an added burden on healthy players. So this season Rebic had to play a lot to cover for the injured strikers, this meant Leao has had very little rest in order to cover left wing. So it’s a trickle down effect. Chances of beating Liverpool are… Read more »
You really made a good point brother ….
I called this with leao playing 3 times a week, something has to give and it has. It hasn’t helped with our two new strikers, giroud and pellegri being injured all time so we screwed. Zlatan at 40 can’t be relied on every match, this will hit us hard over the season unless as u say a new striker brought in. Hell I’d even get 2 young strikers, send pellegri bk and giroud can go end of season. Let’s just hope rebic as a good run of fitness from new year till endo of season.
It certainly looks like things will get worse before they get better.
Messias, Alexis, Diaz and Ibra are our only fit forwards, for 4 positions.
So they will have a heavy schedule.
In terms of strikers, Colombo is doing great on loan so it is not ideal to interrupt his progress. But what choice have we?
We need to spend money on a proven striker in Jan
Replace the head of Milan lab. He must responsible
Am just tired with all this injuries it’s annoying well the Liverpool game is just a game of luck if we scale through fine my main concern now is the league we need to carry that scudetto been a while atlist now the ball is in our court on this we just need our players to stay fit and get good st and cb as well
