Alexis Saelemaekers has signed a new contract, without any drama.

Despite coming without too much fanfare from Anderlecht in January 2020, Saelemaekers has managed to establish himself as one of the regulars of coach Stefano Pioli and as a key squad member.

Alexis has found success on the right wing of the Rossoneri, for his technical ability and impressive work rate. Now he gets his prize, signing a new contract.

“Milan is pleased to announce the renewal of Alexis Saelemaekers’ contract until June 30, 2026,” a statement reads. “Born in 1999, Alexis arrived at Milan in January 2020. Since then, he has made 64 appearances and scored four goals so far. The attacking midfielder will continue to wear the Rossoneri shirt.”

The announcement comes seemingly out of nowhere. Unlike some of his teammates, Saelemaekers has apparently not put up any difficulties and the two sides can calmly continue together.

After the official announcement, Alexis wrote on his Instagram: “La Salamandra remains! I’m delighted to continue my story with this great club that has welcomed me and made me feel important immediately. It’s a wonderful emotion that I want to share with all the people who have accompanied me on this journey and in particular with all the Milan fans who are special.

“I’m proud of my growth which has gone hand in hand with the team. Now, the target is always the same: work, grow and win! Forza Milan God is Great!”

I bet he and his agent didn’t ask to first double his salary and then triple.
