Fodé Ballo-Touré has put pen to paper and become the new #5 of the Rossoneri.

Milan have been looking for an alternative to Theo Hernandez and they’ve gotten their hands on Fodé Ballo-Touré, who arrives from Ligue 1’s Monaco.

The 24-year-old is the third French signing of the Rossoneri this summer, after Mike Maignan and Olivier Giroud.

“Milan is delighted to announce the permanent signing of Fodé Ballo-Touré from AS Monaco. The defender has signed a contract with the Rossoneri until June 30, 2025 and will be wearing the number 5 jersey,” a statement on the official website reads.

“Fodé, born in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine (France) on 3 January 1997, spent his youth career with Paris Saint-Germain, before moving to LOSC Lille in 2017, with whom he made his Ligue 1 debut and where he made 47 appearances in one and a half seasons. In January 2019, he moved to AS Monaco, with whom he played 74 games.

“Fodé collected 8 caps with the France U21 team, with whom he played the 2019 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. Of Senegalese origins, Fodé made his debut with the Senegal National team in March 2021, collecting 4 caps.”

Milan are paying €4.2m plus bonuses for the player, who will look to give Theo a run for his money next season. The player had his medical yesterday and today he signed the contract.

He’s going to be the best signing ever! Imagine a combination of Balotelli & Yaya Toure in one body.

This is a very intelligent signing by Massara and Maldini. Ballo-Toure started his career as an attacking player at LW. He is very athletic, strong and better defensively than Theo. He can also use both feet.

Ballo-Toure will push Theo even harder to play his best football consistently because he can easily become a starter over Theo. Ballo-Toure is a more complete LB and better at defending than Theo.

I rate this signing as an A+

And there’s Kerkez coming in from behind fast. But most of all I hope Pioli realised what kind of potential Pobega has, with him on board we have our midfield set – Bennacer/Pobega and Kessie/Tonali. I really hope Pioli decides to keep Pobega. No need to spend for certain Bakayoko or Kamara.

We have Banncer and Kessie as starters and Tonali is perfect vice-Bennacer, but we still need someone with Kessie like quality. Pobega is a bit different type of player and he can be one of the 5 CMs we’ll need for next season, but Bakayoko/Kamara is still a must.

Dunno, to me Tonali seems right between Bennacer and Kessie, a battling but creative midfielder. He could be groomed into something similar to Kessie. He said himself he is closer to Rino than Pirlo, so why not use this. Pobeg is also battling and imo he is even better at creating than Tonali.

Agreed Ted. In fact we don’t necessarily need a Kessie type, we only need good midfielders who can play in front of the defense. Plays like Bakayoko can’t even play football

Agree. Tonali is a little soft in defense. So we need a stronger in defense for the midfielder than Pobega. Pobega is like in between Kessie and Tonali

We will see how he performs in Serie A, but from the clips I have seen, he is strong and fast. Definitely a good signing at the price.

For that price, we just made another steal. This might give Pioli a headache because both LB are starting materials. Theo is the better one for sure. Ballo is close to Theo’s level. Now I am really exciting for our next signing. Maldini is waving his magic wand again.

No he is only a backup, he couldn’t shine for Lille and Monaco and he ain’t a youngster anymore so don’t expect much improvement overall a average signing

Another Maldini masterstroke. I had no idea who this guy was. I had to watch a couple of Monaco matches to understand why we bought him. Lets just say even if PSG gets theo for 100Mil.. we are well covered. Well done Maldini, very well done.

I can’t believe some milan fans as so childish, excited over a backup player and saying he can replace Theo, you don’t know quality at all go support Brescia

Well Brescia did produce players like Pirlo, Hamsik, Balotelli and lastly Tonali.

If they are as good as you say go support them, since they produce world class talent, leave milan and kiss Brescia badge

So we made 6 signings so far, but in reality it’s 2.tomori,tonali,diaz played for us last season, Mike replaced money grabber so leaves us giroud and toure. Just waiting on another midfielder and most important a right winger. U guys think that would be a good window and make us title contenders?

We lost Donna so he a direct replacement, like diaz for hakan. I meant actual numbers added to squad for new season.

I’m with you. A lot of our “new” signings are loans player we redeemed. (tomori, tonali etc) or straight up replacements like Mike. I would argue that an AM is also a straight replacement (for Hakan). So yes, realistically, we added 2 new players to compete with existing ones.
We might be title contenders on the fact that Inter is well… inter. – their squad is being sold. Juve is trying to rebuild and Atalanta is getting old. We might be right up there in the title .

Milan should sell or swap Romagnoli for some good RW. Time is running out, he has one year left on his contract. The more we wait the more his value drops.

It is Castillejo who needs to be replaced.

Maybe Coutinho will arrive in a swap deal for Romagnoli?

Maybe, but Coutinjo is off form and has huge salary, not a really good transfer. And he is LW and a AM. Our weekest position is our RW, so it would be better to use Romagnoli for a RW. Any way even Coutinjo would be better than lossing Romagnoli for free. This summer is the last chance to get something from Romagnoli.
