Paolo Maldini gave a brief update on the transfer market, confirming Giroud.

Milan have been training at Milanello for a week now, preparing for the 2021/22 season and while Stefano Pioli and his boys are working on the pitch, director Paolo Maldini is working in the offices to find new signings for Milan.

Interviewed by DAZN on Wednesday, Maldini spoke about the Milan mercato:

“Giroud? He should arrive on Thursday. We have a young duo up front [laughs]… Olivier is a Champion and a fresh winner of the Champions League. He’s a reliable player and he can bring experience to a team that is very young. A young striker could also arrive, we want to do things well and lay the foundations of the team immediately and then look at other signings towards the end of the mercato.

“Donnarumma? It’s an important loss for us, even if we’ve bought a great goalkeeper. He’s a guy who was born in our academy and seeing what he’s done at Milan – the fact that the story is interrupted – hurts a little. It is right to think about the past but the future is more fascinating.

“Kessié? In the future there will be Kessié. We are working on his renewal.

“If I already have Çalhanoğlu’s replacement in mind? No [laughs].”

“The start of the Milan calendar? On the fourth Matchday we’ll have already faced two important teams but sooner or later we’ll have to face them all. Our league campaign last year showed that we won away many times so these are all theoretical evaluations.”

Maldini also spoke to Tuttomercatoweb about the Serie A calendar which was unveiled yesterday: “I’m satisfied that it’s starting again, hopefully with the fans at the stadium. Then, the calendar can be interpreted in a thousand ways, but in the end it seems trivial that you have to face all the teams so whatever comes, comes.

“What is Milan’s objective? Maintaining one of the top four positions and then improving from other points of view. Maintaining the position would already be an improvement compared to what Milan has been in the last eight years.”

I still have serious reservations about Giroud.
Hopefully I am proven wrong.
Now get an AM and RW

SJF

Kai Jorge, looks a good prospect. It’s a big step up though.
Leao, rebic, hauge, diaz, saladman that’s 5 players for 3 positions. I hope all of them stay, if 1 has to go I’d choose Leao.
Either way we need more options for those positions!
