Milan reach an agreement with Torino to sign Meïté, the midfielder will arrive on a paid loan with option to buy

Soualiho Meïté will very soon become a new Milan player, and the midfield of Stefano Pioli will be strengthened.

Milan have been searching for a midfielder with certain qualities to add more depth to a key department that was lacking in quantity and physicality.

Today (Thursday), they’ve closed the deal to bring Soualiho Meïté from Torino, who will be able to offer exactly that to coach Pioli and will allow Franck Kessié to catch his breath from time to time.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Italia and by Milannews.it, the 26-year-old – who will undergo his Milan medical in the upcoming days – is joining on loan for €0.5m with an option to buy set at €8 million plus bonuses, bringing the deal to a total of around €10 million.

The desire is to have Meïté already available for the match against Cagliari on Monday.

This guy is a squad player nothing more. We should be looking for players that can challenge our first team. I know it’s January so big transfers won’t happen especially with covid but in the summer I expect much better signings then what we are linked with

I disagree. Meite is good DM who was playing in a very poor Torino team. He will add quality and experience at 26 to our young midfield. He’s athletic, strong and very combative and good at moving the ball forward. He’s also good defensively too.

I would take Meite any day over some inexperience youth player from Ligue 2.

But Pioli wouldn’t and that’s what matters now since Pioli is our coach and not Rangnick. So we can move on now that we have Pioli who is challenging for a scudetto and NOT 4th place.

Therefore we need players like Meite and Mandzukic to help get us the title. That’s why Meite is a better signing over Kone.

I appreciate the work of the German tactician and I hope Rangnick goes to Borussia Dortmund which is my 2nd favorite team after Milan.

actually, maldini and massara (surely with green light from pioli) WOULD want kone but milan got outbidded by gladbach. its not like they had 2 options, kone and meite, and they picked kone. they only signed meite because kone chose other team. in other words, meite IS plan b. regarding scudetto, i know every milanista want that, especially after how milan finished last season strong and are now picking up where they left off, but the truth is we’re not even halfway through the season yet. it’d be most unwise to think about scudetto now when milan so far have… Read more »

To be honest I would rather just play Calabria there. Seems solid. Kalulu and Dalot could play right-side during that formation. It even could be justifiable for us to go for a high quality RB, like Emerson, during summer transfer window. Besides, I don’t think we will be able to keep Dalot anyway. We missed out on Simakan and Kone and settled for Mandzukic and Meite.

It seems like Gazidis wants to reduce the fat in the finances of Milan, but he is up to quick fixes that might prove expensive in the end. Maldini-Pioli is doing great, it’s time to spend and close the gap, why can’t he add 50m and secure the CL?

Kalulu is doing ok in Cb and Rb, so we are covered there, he is doing good and gonna be great. The problem after Dalot leave would be fixed in summer. Mandzukic and Meite are great temporal solution, if they failed, there would be no need to carry on with them. The point is, on winter market, teams are reluctant to release theur player. And yes, Calabria plays good as a midfield, but it playing him there would mess the Rb right? Besides, Calab is too small to compete with strong midfielder like bakayoko or striker who likes to come… Read more »

The thing is if we don’t at least get a solid vice-Theo, during the summer transfer window we will need to have a giant overhaul, again. Dalot and Brahim won’t stay, well at least I don’t think they will. Casti isn’t good enough and Saelemakers is too young to be the main RW, even more as we will be in UCL(too early to tell but jesus christ if we miss out on minimum 4th place, idk man, just idk). Krunic will be replaced by Pobega, which will be the only easy replacement. As for the Romagnoli partner in CB spot,… Read more »

Milenkovic, Thauvin, Belotti, Emerson(RB), Zaccagni(if not Diaz). and one of these guys as vice-Theo: Emerson(LB), Mykolenko, Nuno Mendos, Dimarco, Macon(Saint-Etiene) and any of these guys as vice-Kessie: Samassekou, A-Z Anguissa, Diawara, Camara, Lokonga, Koopmeiners. These guys would be my top picks and TBH not that unrealistic, considering Thauvin free move, Pobega free, which would free up 20-21M from Casti, Krunic sales that would immediately fund Milenkovic move.

What do u mean Saelemaekers is too young to be the starting RW, his playing great and giving the team a hand On and Off the ball, and he’s too young to start ,U want him to be 30yrs before starting

Thank God you are not the coach or Maldini. Signing Emerson is a waste of money. We have Dalot, Kalulu and Saelemaekers can also play RB.

Even if we don’t keep Dalot I think signing Singo from Torino is a better option than Emerson. He’s cheaper, younger and just as good if not better.

Emerson cost was inflated due to 7M fee for an early recall, thus his price is somewhere between 15-18M, which isn’t expensive and Singo? really? Torino’s owner is nuts, just like Fiorentina’s and Sampdoria’s always placing ridiculous prices, heck we are gettin Meite a reserve player for 17th place team for 0.5M, when we basically gifted them RR.

Disapointing that we missed on Simakan, a worldclass potential. All because we didnt wanted to add 2mil. Lipzig is geting him as a replacment for Upamecano, that says a lot about him.

Milan has limited budget and they prioritizing midfjeld and contract renewal above Cb. That is why the negotiation dragged and ended up collapsed after the injury. There would be another fresh options for Cb in the summer.
I think Milan is doing great considering the situations and need continuity, so there is no need to add a first team player that would be distrupting, except a new upgrade Rw would be great

What have Simakan and Kone done so far to be considered a world class potential besides playing in the weak teams in weak League 1Try not to overuse the terms. Let the the men in charge do their job. You wouldn’t bet on Benacer, Theo, Kalulu, Kjaer, Ibrahimovic. Maldini and Masara have proven enough to be knowledgeable and know how to build a competitive team. It would’ve taken Rangnick 5 years before Milan could have been dreaming of sitting in first place after 17 rounds. Milan is not Toulouse or Granada, or Helas Verone. Young and inexperienced players only can’t… Read more »

Simakan put Mbape in his pocket. Is that good enough? To get that kind of player who can stop players of Mbape calibar for 20mil is a steal. If you trust Maldini and Masara then you should trust them on Simakan too. There is a reason why they were trying to get him. The problem is Eliot who didnt wanted to approve the transfer for only 2mil difference.

Meite is a good option and better than Kone. Kone in my opinion was way overpriced for an unproven player in Ligue 2 of all leagues. Smh Personally I don’t have any regrets if we don’t get Simakan either. To be honest defensively we should be fine until the end of next season with Romagnoli, Kjaer, Kalulu, Musacchio and Gabbia. If Musacchio is sold in January then it makes sense to get Tomori on loan. If we don’t sell Musacchio then we can wait until next season to get Milinkovic from Fiorentina. Milinkovic is a better option than Simakan and… Read more »

I was thinking to mention Milenkovic for the summer. But if we dont want to spent 20mil on CB than how are we going to get him. There will be a lot of teams after Milenkovic in the summer since he dosent want to renew. I doubt Fiorentina will take anything less than 25-30mil.(They wanted 40mil this summer). Simakan was the perfect oportunity for us to get a solid CB for cheap and he was only 20years old, huge potential. I hope Pioli can influence Milenkovic to join us in the summer but the way our transfers are going so… Read more »

We would have another budget in the summer and a bigger one if we qualify for CL. Also i would rather spend high in the summer than harsh now. If we keep Musa then we dont need another adition in our defence. Also a nice choice to get a backup for kessie even tho i dont know much only on youtube about meite but he is really strong and good with ball on feet.

Musa is staying till his contract runs out in the summer. He already refused Genova. The problem is that we have missed on a big talent, not if we have other CB’s or not. If you look realisticly our budget since Eliot came has not been to big, we do more loan deals and free transfers. Why do you think they will change their policy ? Thats why i say this was a rаre chance to land a big talent for 20mil which is not much on todays market (We offered 18m). Good players cost money and if we dont… Read more »

I hope so, but we are on top of Seria A and Eliot still dosent want to add finances to help us win the league. What does that tells you ? They aren’t really opened to spending from what we have seen so far with or without european football. We still got the 15m from the EL group stage, but instead of trying to get Thauvian and attack for the scudeto they prefer to wait for free transfer in the summer and save some money that way. Just shows you how tight Eliot spending is.

WTF is this move right now? I know we need a vice-Kessie, I’ve also seen the stats of this guy, he is a poor man’s Kessie but his salary is ridiculous for a bench warmer. He is getting €2M at Torino, so, he will earn more than: Kessie – €2.2M Bennacer – €1.5 Leao – €1.5 Theo – €1.5 Torino is adding salt to the wound by demanding 0.5 million for the dry loan, FFS, Maldini sold RR to them for 3 miserable millions. It doesn’t make a lot of sense from a business standpoint, especially after Calabria showed that… Read more »

completely agree with you my brother. and I would add that I would keep Musacchio until summer to go for Milenkovic for under 20M and he is also very proficient RB. so vice-Kessie Calabria could actually work.

well, we did get rid of Locatelli in a very poor fashion, and Juve do have his idol Pirlo as their coach, so not too shocked, but if we end the season in a strong fashion, and if we were to lose Bennacer I think Locatelli can rejoin.

Soooo now that we got our dm and possible cb, can we please fucking get a rw and a cf. I like manzukic but he hasn’t played in a VERY long time. We need a striker who’s on form now. In fact, I honestly think when zlatan isn’t playing, we need to switch to a 2 forward system. As for rw, we need that before a cf right now. Our rw offers next to nothing every game. Also in regards to Ajax, why have we not poached their players. If you play in that team, your almost guaranteed to be a baller, so why have our scouts not been looking over there. no no, thinking u can buy cheaply from seller’s market where the sellers have the all the upper hand and thus are able to determine the price, now THATS idiotic. ajax, dortmund, benfica, porto, sporting lisbon, rb leipzig, napoli etc, these teams are sellers; u cant buy <20m rated gems maldini style from them. for instance, ryan gravenberch. this guy is 18, hasnt prove himself much and thus the usual suspects like barca, psg and madrid still dont rate him yet. ajax’s asking price? 25m. no way milan with current ownership can afford ajax players
