Mateo Musacchio’s agent commented on the supposed interest of Genoa and said Mateo suffered an injury because he was playing with infiltrations.

Musacchio has virtually not been in the plans of Milan since Simon Kjær arrived in January 2020, and his future is certain to be far away from the Rossoneri.

The Argentine, after returning from a long injury, has not played a single minute under Stefano Pioli in 2020/21 and it’s reported that Milan would like to sell him in January, as his contract expires in the summer.

The 29-year-old’s agent, Marcelo Lombilla, spoke to Calciomercato.com today to address the rumours:

Lombilla, could Genoa be Musacchio’s next destination?
“At the current state there is nothing. Mateo remains at Milan until July and then we’ll see…”

There was also a talk of a possible refusal by the player, do you confirm?
“Only I am authorized to speak for his interests and I have not had any contract with Genoa.”

What is your idea of the many appearances in the stands and on the bench collected by Musacchio this season?
“It’s a strange and uncertain situation for everyone, I don’t understand this treatment when he gave it all for the team and also played with infiltrations, at the request of the coach, and this cost him an injury. But football is like that… Pioli was going to be fired and now he looks like Guardiola. Life is like that, you have to wait for opportunities.”

How is he experiencing this situation?
“As a professional. Helping and inciting his teammates for the most important objective which is to stay as high as possible. He’s never created problems in his 13-year career in Europe and he will never be different. He’s loved Milan since Day 1 and he continues to love Milan with all of his being.”

Have you ever spoken with Maldini and Massara about a possible renewal of the contract that expires next July?
“No, never. We only talked about football in general. With the two of them, the relationship is excellent.”
