Milan are trying to recover their injured players, and Simon Kjær is closest.

Milan this season have been plagued with injuries and absences. In fact, against Lazio before the Christmas break, they were without 4 starters, but still managed to get the win in the end.

The media outlets in Italy gave today an update today on the situation of the injured players. As reported by Milannews.it, training ahead of Sunday’s Benevento match should resume tomorrow with an ‘optional’ session, while on Wednesday all the players will be back from the break.

According to Milannews.it and Sportmediaset, Dane center-back Kjær, who’s been instrumental in 2020, could be back in training on Tuesday or Wednesday, and then return to the pitch for either the match against Benevento on January 3 or against Juventus on January 6 at Stadio San Siro.

The situation of the other injured players is a bit more complicated. Ibrahimović, who has been out since the Napoli game, was about to return against Sassuolo but then suffered a calf injury in training. He’s unlikely to return for the match against Juve, and Milan are not planning to rush the return of the Rossoneri #11, who followed a personalized work schedule during the Christmas break.

The same goes for Ismaël Bennacer. Sandro Tonali, Franck Kessié and Rade Krunić will have to continue to make up for the absence of the Algerian also against Benevento and Juventus. Samu Castillejo’s condition still needs to be evaluated and it remains to be seen when he’ll return.

As for Matteo Gabbia, who suffered a knee injury, the young center back should be back in February.

Wishing Kjaer a speedy recovery for the upcoming match. Hope he returns in time. When he is behind in defence it always gives a solid respect to our backline. Romagnoli just doesn’t have that presence about him maybe because of his age. Forza Milan!

Gab

Better start appreciating what Romagnoli has been doing recently. Being paired with an inexperienced youngster but still producing such performances is no joke. That’s good leadership

efex

hopefully he continues with kjaer

Pity about Ibra and Bennacer – hoping for a speedy recovery for both. I don’t think anyone’s waiting with baited breath for Castillejo’s return… His football still needs to be evaluated let alone his condition.

I’ll say something I was holding back. Milan was struggling a bit. They managed to get results by the attitude of some in the squad. I think that other teams might be studying Pookie’s tactics and the players’ strongest traits. I think it’s crucial that Gazidis approves a significant budget to add three key players. Kalulu-Gabbia are not ready, and Romagnoli is not Kjaer. Krunic did an amazing job to not let Milan lose against Lazio, but he can’t play anywhere in Pioli’s 4231. He can stay due to his low wage and good contribution when a box to box… Read more »

How can you say Kalulu and Gabbia are not ready? Please who is ready then?

LionHeart

@Raven, To be honest with you , Kalulu and Gabbia have doing doing great job when giving the opportunity considering that they are still very young. They still have room for improvement. I don’t agree with you that they are not ready. My opinion anyway. Forza Milan from Nigeria

Anyone who thinks Krunic did an amazing job shouldnt comment on football anymore. Krunic is horrible. No positioning, offers nothing moving forward, loses the ball in key positions constantly and almost gave up a penalty for Lazio to tie the game.

He’s heing sarastic i believe, mate. U must to learn from LionHeart how to convert your opinion so people feel respected even when yours not go along with theirs.
Forza Milan!

Raven

He did an amazing job for being such a mediocre player. For the role he is playing against 5 of lazio midfielders this match could’ve ended in defeat. I will keep commenting feel free to ignore me.

He almost made us lose, but he didn’t I’ve seen worst from other players a couple of seasons ago.

Gabbia should be back in February? We definitely need a reinforcement. I think it’s better to have an CB who can also play as LB.

Ranajaya

Romagnoli can play as Lb and there is dalot who is more comfortable than him in playing there. Kjaer is coming back, and kalulu and gabbia are doing fine, but they are not ready to face world class striker. You could see how kalulu was struggling with immobile.
We need a more experience cb that can cope with such a player because i think with a proper addition, we can compete for scudetto at least until 4/5 of the season

Kjaer back is a huge relief…..
