Kessié: “We are a family and Pioli knows how to manage the group, the partner in midfield? For me it’s the same”

Franck Kessié hopes to score more goals this season despite not taking pks and claims ‘everyone works a lot in training’.

Milan beat Celtic 3-1 last night to get three points away from home on Matchday 1 of the 20/21 Europa League.

Rade Krunić (14′), Brahim Díaz (42′), Mohamed Elyounoussi (76′) and Jens Petter Hauge (92′) were on target but Franck Kessié was once again bossing the midfield as he played with Sandro Tonali.

“The partner in midfield? For me it’s the same, it’s always the same. We must always give our best, we hope to continue like this,” Franck told Sky Italia at the end of the match in Scotland. “Ibrahimović? He helps us a lot, he’s a Champion. He gives everyone a great hand, we hope he can play a lot with us to help us.

“The growth of the locker room? Football is like this, not all moments can be good. We have recovered and now we are a family, everyone works a lot in training. The presence of Zlatan helps the team and the coach a lot.

“The turning point? After the lockdown we recovered well, we went fast, the coach tried to build a family. On the pitch we help each other. The coach is one of us, all the players are important, also those who don’t play. The coach knows how to manage the group.

“Taking penalties and scoring goals? I hope to score more than last year, even if I don’t shoot penalties. It’s okay, in front of me there is a Champion who takes them. I can score even without penalties.”
