Lucas Paquetá’s adventure at Milan has come to an end and by the end of the week he’ll be a new Lyon player.
Paquetá has not been in the plans of coach Stefano Pioli since the start of the season and has even been left out of the squad lists for the Europa League games.
Therefore, Milan have been looking to offload him and today arrived the agreement with Lyon – the club that wanted the Brazilian the most – arrived.
As reported by Sky Italia, L’Equipe and others, Lyon have agreed a deal with the Rossoneri for Paquetá worth around €21m plus a percentage of a future sale. Milan are not making any capital gain on the 23-year-old, who was bought by Leonardo from Flamengo for €38.4m in January 2018.
Lucas will undergo the medical with Lyon tomorrow and he’s expected to sign a contract for 4-5 years. As reported by L’Equipe, he’s agreed to earn a lower salary at the Ligue 1 club than what he’s getting at Milan. Already during the day, Paquetá, who scored 1 goal and has 3 assists since joining the Red and Black club, said goodbye to his teammates at training center Milanello.
After a rather disappointing adventure at Milan, Paquetá will try to prove himself at Ligue 1 and get his career back on track. The Rossoneri are expected to reinvest the money in a center back.
So sad, but Milan have to move on. Paquetas arrival came with lots of fun fare.

Dont get me wrong Hauge seem to be a good player with great potential but i dont think he is ready to produce in Serie A at that level yet there is a huge difference between the Norwegian league & Serie A and he is used best as a LW he should be a rotation option to Rebic for now
How may of us know about Theo,Saelemaekers,Leao, or even Rebic before. The came from different league as well but they adapted really well in serie A. Yes Rebic played for Fiorentina,but he was not a key player at that time. Moreover milan already followed Hauge since June. RB Leipzig and Salzburg were also interested in him. I agree. Hauge scored 14 out of 17 domestic games, and he also scored and assisted i a game against teams like Milan and the fact that Milan dominated the game intensified his quality to drive his team forward . He only 20 but i see him has a competitive mentality to thrive in Milan, and i hope him to do so.

Good job Milan, like everyone else we had high hopes but honestly I could tell he was stuck in his ways and Milan need players that play at a faster pace.
I am glad that he leaves. I hope he will perform better with Lyon. He is a talented player but he failed to show his worth in Milan.
However, I am still wondering why maldini can not offload Laxalt and Castillejo.Theo needs proper backup. Laxalt is not even close to him.
While Castillejo doesn’t seem theeatening on the right side. On the right side the run/movement of either Calabria or Saelemaekers is more promising. Hope Maldini can solve this problem aside from central defender of course
It seems Krunic will be Hakan back up now. Paqueta sure is talented, when he played in his position AM he delivered. I hope we will replace him with Dominik Sozobozlai next year. Thats the only way i will take this as a good move. Otherwise we just gave away a big talent to Lyon.

With the utmost respect for Paqueta whom I liked and I hoped he will reborn the tradition with the brasil players at Milan, he was a big failure, a huge disappointment, a fragile mentality and poor attitude on and off the pitch. I had big hopes with him but he wasn’t a warrior like Rebic for example and in my oppinion he doesn’t deserve to wear Milan’s shirt anymore. How can you say he “failed miserbly” when he hardly played under Pioli ? When he was playing he was good, just look at pre season. Its like saying Rebic “failed miserbly” at the first half of last season cause Pioli didnt wanted to play him. And the reason Milan is selling him has nothing to do with his quality as a player.
Every time he received a chance under Pioli, he played miserably, without ambition, without intensity, without commitment, so we are Milan and here you must give everything and show your skills, if not, you should leave elsewhere. Lol he scored 2 goals and made like 2 assists in the last 3 games he played in pre season, since then in which game did Pioli played him ? Against Bodo? or Shemrock,Crotone, Bologna..? I would have also scored against Novara, my friend, don’t try to argue just because of art of arguing ! He didn’t play against those little teams, because he wasn’t part of the project anymore ! Paqueta is past, now we’re looking forward, let’s hope he will save his career at Lyon and our players would perform better than Paqueta. My loyalty to Milan comes before any player so I have no regrets about Paquetá leaving. He’s nowhere near legendary status and he’s not a serious footballer.

The problem with this kid is how agents create hype around the player, Again, this kid managed to play at Milan and play at the highest level. However, when the agent says you are the next Kaka, you are the 10 of brazil it’s a lot to handle for such a young man.

I think it’s better to buy an CB/DMC like Kessie than an CB/RB. We already have Calabria, Kalulu, and Saelemaekers at RB. Romag is beginning his training also. Our back up for Kessie right now is only Krunic. When Kessie go to African Cup, then it’s going to be a problem.

The fact that Milan are willing to accept this transfer with loss is a prove that Maldini is not given enough to make significant maneuvre in the transfer market. I hope that Milan get at least one def for covering cb post until Romag return. Paqueta is quality player, but Pioli’s tactic need player who can adapt in high paced game and unfortunately he is to slow, and always touches too many that he hinders Milan progress in attack, also he lack urgency to drive the ball forward and can not press. Way too many turnover with him. He might be the next gourcuff, but i guess Milan can’t wait until he produce his true performance as Milan need money from his sale to strengthen the other urgent posts.
