Freiburg have signed another midfielder and have reportedly ended their pursue of Rade Krunić.
Krunić joined Milan last season from Empoli for €8 million, showing himself to be a capable substitute but has been linked in this mercato with an exit.
The name of Freiburg has been mentioned a lot in relation to Krunić. However, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Bundesliga club is no longer interested in the Bosnia international.
Di Marzio claims that Milan had asked Freiburg for some more time to evaluate their offer for Rade, due to their Europa League commitments. But Freiburg were in a hurry to get a new midfielder and have gone ahead to sign the 25-year-old Baptiste Santamaria from Angers instead.
It is said that Freiburg even paid for Santamaria €2 million more than what they were offering for Krunić (a reported €8m). Di Marzio says Milan are thinking of keeping the player in the squad.
