Tonali: “It is a dream come true for me, together we can achieve everything – even what seems impossible, it’s amazing to be working side by side with Maldini”

Sandro Tonali has spoken his first words as a Milan player, saying ‘it has always been my dream’.

Tonali officially joined the Rossoneri yesterday from Brescia on loan for €10 million and option to buy for €15 million (plus €10 million of bonuses).

Sandro trained with the squad for the first time today and he should take part in Saturday’s friendly at Milanello.

For months it seemed as though Tonali would be joining Inter, however in the end Milan got him. Sandro has always been a huge Diavolo fan and last night he wrote on his Instagram: I wanted it. I dreamed of it. I asked for it. I got it. It’s the shirt of my Milan.” The 20-year-old spoke to MilanTV:

Your dream come true…
“It’s a dream come true. A dream that many kids have, it’s always been my dream. I posted that Instagram story because it seemed perfect showing the moment I stopped wearing the Rossoneri colors and started a new journey but now I’m back and I think of this a sign.”

Wearing number 8, like Gattuso…
“I’ve chosen the number 8 shirt because it has a special meaning as a midfielder and as a Milan midfielder, as it was worn by a player who made Milan’s history; I rang him up and I asked him and he replied as a coach does, and said: ‘Do not ask, just take it and go get’em!’.”

Tonali and Maldini…
“As a kid, I admired him a lot and hoped, at best, I could have a photo taken with him and now we work together. It’s amazing to be working side by side with a Milan legend, it’s another dream! It’s so different as a player, it’s something really great and has a symbolic meaning to me.”

You’ll be working with a young group…
“It’s a young group that has shown its strength, to be a top team, one of the strongest sides around. We have that desire to achieve more because we can do it, we’ll have to take advantage of the chances we’ll have with no fear because it can all be done.”

Now, you’ll be providing assists for Ibra…
“It’s probably easier to assist someone like him who never fails, it’s really great.”

Your Rossoneri friends in the national team…
“I’ve talked with Gigio, Calabria, Romagnoli… we’re friends, we’ve had a good time together, with the national team and we’re all young. They gave me lots of advice and we are ready for this new adventure, together.”

Remember that letter you wrote as a kid?
“I wrote that letter at 10-years-old, I don’t know what was going through my mind. I’m still not a Saint but I’m a footballer [laughs], I’m focused on keep working, to never give up, to work head down with my teammates and give 100%.”

Your message to the Rossoneri fans…
“Together we can achieve everything, even what seems impossible and this Milan will manage to do so.”

Offtopic

Seems that Silva will stay with Frankfurt as they’ve just announced signing him for 9 millions.

It is expected Milan will soon make same announcement about Rebić.

Moving in the shadows are we Maldini?

Good competition for Bennacer. Even they can play together when facing ultra defensive team

Ikr.. I’m so excited for the new season.
thinking back when all we have is Suso and co. like 2 seasons ago, it seems like the nightmare is almost over, now we have a buttload of wonderkids and probably 2 of the best young midfielders in serie A(europe?), and ofc Ibra. Courtesy of il capitano, Paolo is and will always be a hero for me.
If Chiesa and a star CB comes I’ll be on cloud nine.

to win serie A, milan need to use 1-3-6-1 or 1-3-5-2 as they have 4 NT midfielders : ben naser, kessie, tonali and bakayoko.

while playing europa league, milan need to switch the formation to 1-4-2-3-1. 4 defenders are required and it is a must for european competitions.

You must understand that formations are good but not always does it make a team win but it is the work put buy players and coach in any formation that makes you win.

“Do not ask, just take it and go get’em!” sounds like rino alright haha. i hope tonali can emulate rino’s mentality/grinta, like bennassie duo before him. regarding silva – rebic permanent deals, im glad that both clubs are working on it now instead of next year when the deal will have been expired. now milan can concentrate on targetting other exciting players and not on how not to be robbed by frankfurt. sweet move again by il bandiera maldini. regarding that coveted rw, i dont know why milan or any other teams dont go for draxler. i’ve said since draxler… Read more »

It seems Fofana is set to join Leicester. Also we are currently still covered on CB position (not in terms of quality but numerically) with Gabbia, Musa and Duarte as current backups. Same can be said about RB position with Calabria, Conti and Kalulu

I am more concerned about our LB. We only have Theo there while I do not count Laxalt as anything close to a football player. They need to sign a vice Theo first and ship Laxalt to Russia or somewhere.

Guys we don’t stand the chance to win seria a for now ,champions league spot it’s ok ,cos with the kind of players juventus are signing I don’t see any club taking away seria a title for now,we are still far behind many clubs in seria a cos we are just signing prospect that can eventually fail or shine (it’s a 50-50 ) thing ,,milan did not really make any serious signing ,tonali is not a game changer ,believe me we are just one step improved compared to clubs who have taken miles to improve

Yeah, I kinda agree with you on this.
But still, after this oh so many years of no improvement, we finally took a “step”, even if its only 1 step, its still an improvement.
Gotta cheer louder right mate? 😉

Well, paperwise, I agree with you. But in reality, things may go on our side. Remember the so called Juve have made some drastic changes to their team . It’s not that easy for the new players to adjust easily especially if the come from different league. Don’t forget that all we need is consistency. Even a win with 1:0, if it consistent makes sense than to win first few matches and start losing considerably again. Our problem for the past two years is consistency
