If you have been following Milan’s last 3-5 matches, you would have known Hakan Calhanoglu would have done far better than Paqueta. Paqueta did ok but he misplaced a lot of passes in the final third and is still lacking a bit of confidence.

Yeah looks really strong line up. Think this is a 4231 not 4411.if u didn’t look at the league table u would think this team would be higher up in league with the players we got. That’s what chopping and changing managers, owners gets u.

Yeah, it’s more a 4-2-3-1 because Paquetta is more a number 10 than an SS.

Paquetá needs to show more to find his place back in the current team, seems he’s not ready yet, too confused what to do, however like any other player I believe he just goes through his bad period of his career

He set up the goal, and is recovering a lot of balls in midfield. One of the best on the pitch imo.

Fra

Just few comments before you said his rule is number 10, now you say he most recovers balls.. I said he’s not definitely a bad player he’s just not in his best form yet, because I expect Paquetá be more number 10 than recovering balls..

He is doing ok, makes a lot of mistakes as well, with more playing time he would link up better with the rest. He did recover a lot of balls i wont mind if he starts in Kessie/Bennacer place a bit back in some games, look good at tackling and he is preaty big and strong. It would just give us more depth in those positions if he can play there. We only got Biglia on the bench for that position who is also injured at the moment.

I was just waiting for someone to complain about Paquetà. Lol. Dude he hasn’t played as much and he’s still doing better than most people we’ve been playing all season long. I’m sure you might be one of the people that wanted Rebić out after his first game since he was also rusty but see how he turned out after playing constantly. Paquetà will turn out great once we start playing him constantly. Be patient bro. Trust me on that.

Fra

I’m an objective person, if you have seen my comments before I never name players because of their bad performances or mistakes because any footballer has his good/bad period .. the difference is players that are in their bad period must prove themselves any minute that they play so I indeed want Paquetá gets his chance to play like tonight but he must makes the difference on the pitch to get his place back

Baresis Dream

Good first half by the boys, with a dominating first half. Zlatan and Bennacer, typically our two of our better players, are a bit sloppy with Zlatan getting an extra aggressive treatment from Torino’s defense. Rebic wonderful, as usual, and so is Theo, but Paquetta is also great. Romag and Kajaer did a good job locking up, with Kessie staying close by with a disciplined solid first half by him.

Too bad about Kajaer’s injury, strange that Musa didn’t come in. We need to keep putting the gas on the pedal, because Torino will get their chances second half

Musachio is a biger risk mate, he is super bad at shoots blocking and in air duels, he only has some decend speed. I think Gabbia was chosen in this game because of the air duels, Torino are one of the most dangorous teams in this situations, so it looks like a smart move, i just hope Gabbia dosent break under the presure since he rearly gets a chance.

they didnt have to run like headless chickens, only be more careful, skillful and purposeful when on the ball, and they failed to do that in 2nd half, which is very disgusting, especially in the aftermath of the derby; a horrible lost due to complacency, exactly dindudre’s point actually

@Milan10 since I am in this blog what I realized about you is just as Barca fans a teenager doesn’t know anything about football except winning with any cost and weekly changing opinion about the team based on performance .. being tired in football makes you both physically and MENTALLY LOW, so physically you can’t run like a chicken (I didn’t mean this) but mentally you make errors, punto!!

The point is objectively if Milan qualifies for UCL I get happy as any other milanista but sorry to say we’re not a European aspiring team at the moment, but for last 10 years I can say this milan has future (these days the team shows that they do everything in their power based on a plan that we never had recent years, independently from losing/winning), we will be back next years.

Good result, despite that lukewarm second half. Milan looked tired at the last minutes, with many players with their hand on their hips barely able to conjure one last sprint. first off, congrats milan for the win. they thoroughly deserve it and the top 6 finish. however, their tendency to shut themselves off in 2nd half, especially after leading in 1st half, is disgraceful and disgusting. thank god torino are in such bad shape after mazzarri exit because any half decent team like fiorentina, let alone atalanta and lazio would’ve turned the match around. like i said, milan so far have been able to perform so well in 1st half (vs juve, lecce, inter etc) but their inability to kill off matches like proper winning team would really do them… Read more »

I said this last week. We come out defending and taking no chances going forward when we have a lead. I got berated by Soheil saying I was clueless. You see it every game. I wanted him to come in Milan cause i saw he had a lot of potential as a winger, but i didnt expect for him to be this good. Despite doing the usual winger things like sprinting and crossing, he offers a lot of defensive work like a lot, it seems he has Gatusso like stamina with so much sprinting back and forward its incredible, also makes runs in the box for headers, he just offers so much more than what we got before. Didn’t see the game but I’m impressed by Rebić form. I’m NOT surprised though because he was really good at Eintracht Frankfurt with Jovic and Haller. It would be nice for Milan to sign Jovic and Haller to play them together with Rebić again. Both Jovic and Haller are struggling at Real Madrid and Aston Villa so we should be able to get them on a bargain. That would add more firepower to our starting lineup (front 3). That Sprint… Rebic is a beast, I thought it was Theo.

Bennacer is amazing, Ibra is not getting enough chances he needs to chill a little. Kessie looked sharp. Paqueta meh, but promising AF.

We have plenty of midfielders with unique characteristics, Milan is not as predictable as it was under Rino and that’s a huge improvement. We’re actually playing vertical football. Ala Milan. We still need a better RB.

Milan10

rebic’s one of fastest bundesliga players alongside hakimi (like i said, milan should buy him), dembele and auba. like i said way back during morontella days, to play as winger one needs to be fast and/or possess great dribbling skills, which is exactly why playing suso and especially hakan on the wings in 4-3-3 set up was horrible idea. look how great milan attack now with fast wingers

Raven
Guest
Raven

I’ve trashed Suso on that season, said the same on those days, I was pissed that morontella changed the 422 to better suit suso.

But Suso got me hyped after some amazing performances, I know he can be good, but the guy has an attitude, and it’s way too inconsistent for a top team. He doesn’t show hunger.

Yeah i agreee they will have a harder time negotiating a lot for a player that by that time is nearly 28 years old and with one year remaining of his contract so they propably should accept even less than 20 in my view.. I also think theres a bigger margin for us to negotiate and renew due to silvas age and the fact that rebic propably wont want to return to the german club if he keeps an important role with us. Either way this deal still seems to be more advantagous for us than for frankfurt.

what young players like leao, cutrone, silva, hell even plizzari, gabbia and maldini need is regular playing time so they can improve. romag was lesser player than rugani in 2016 but now its the other way around. why? simply because romag has been playing regularly. this is why i always say young players like gabbia need to be loeaned out like boban and costacurta were years ago. as for leao, too bad pioli is too pragmatic hence he chooses 4-4-1-1 messing up leao’s chance for playing regularly. however, he’s too good and milan dont have enough st for him to… Read more »

As i said im not a fan of silva and im not comparing them as players and i didnt even want him to join us to begin with and for what i care he can leave as well BUT im sure that we would more likely be able to convince him to resign a new contract with us than frankfurt convincing rebic if he keeps playing for milan. In that sense we have a bargening power in the sense that we wont risk losing the player for nothing if we want to keep him whereas frankfurt might if they play… Read more »

put it this way, milan are so desperate to sell silva because they want ro balance the book and also for some reason milan coaches dont want him. problem is, no clubs wants him, or at least not at the price milan set for him. surely milan mgmt want frankfurt to help them and redeem silva, meaning advantage frankfurt #1. regarding rebic, if its true that its dry loan then like it or not milan must let him go in summer ‘21 just like bayern let james go back to madrid this season. put urself in frankfurt shoes; would u… Read more »

Rebic will be in his last year of contract and Eintracht must cut his price ! It depends a lot on what Rebic wants !

it depends a lot on what frankfurt want actually. vidal wanted to join inter last winter mercato but barca said no: no deal.

And then he will leave for free !

maybe, but in 2021 not now. a lot of things can happen in a year. maybe by 2021 inter will have bought another player thus they wont need vidal anymore

Well as ive allready said numerous times rebic contract is due to expire in 2022 so if he doesnt renew his contract frankfurt will risk losing him already in january if he decides to leave so five months isnt a long time and im sure eintract relaizes that. Bentacourt was outbid he was part of the tecez deal going the other way so juve ended up having first rights on the player.

Milan10

Milan10

now the question is: can milan really wait 1 year to have rebic back in summer (not january, unless milan want to pay, like eriksen trasnfer to inter) 2020? how can milan be sure no other teams will try to outbid milan (like suazo, olmo, todibo, bentancur, pjaca cases) in summer 2021? milan have to make it permanent this sunmer otherwise they’re screwed

You cannot return from a loan just because your club is recalling you ! There is a contract signed, there must be agreements beetween the clubs, the player must agree, it’s not so simple !

as milanista u should know that in recent times alone milan have had not 1 but 3 players whose loan deals got cancelled: laxalt, mastour and halilovic (remember gullit loan deal?). so yeah, loan deals can be cancelled

Martin Bernhard

Milan10 i have explained several times that a contract is a contract unless the agreement says otherwise it can just be terminated so milan have either had the right to call laxalt or other players back either due to different terms not being met like for example ammounts of minutes played mid season or they have simply re-negotiated with the for example torino. There wouldnt be a point in having contracts if they could just be disregarded at the whims of those involved. A club that loans a player can tear up the contract but that will just mean that… Read more »

then what makes u so sure there’s no clause which can allow frankfurt to cancel the deal, under certain circumstances? have u read the paperwork? even if they cant, dry loan is still bad deal for milan because they will have to pay much more than 25m to make it permanent come summer 2021. i was happy back then when i read its loan deal worth 5m with option to buy set at 20m but turns out its not the case. and seeing how clubs and especially agents behave these days u can bet they will try to rip milan… Read more »

Well as i said further up im fine with us striking a deal before 2021 to close the matter and obviously there can be such terms involved but i seriously doubt that our managment would accept such terms and risk disturbance midseason. It usually happens when a player is send on loan to get some minutes because the opportunity is slim where he is owned and that cant be said in case of rebic as he simply wanted the move and frankfurt knew very well that they would endup with a disgruntled player if they refused. Before he started playing… Read more »

If Torino didn’t want to let Laxalt to come back at Milan, or Laxalt himself denied the return, he would have stayed at Torino !!!! But all the parts have agreed to come back, Milan paid back half of the price Torino paid for loan and Laxalt came back !!! But in this case, Rebic is a starter, is in wonderful form, if Milan wants him to stay he will stay, even if Eintracht calls him back, because a contract is a contract and Milan is Milan, if u are a starter at Milan you don’t want to return to… Read more »

Each contract is unique Alex… google contractual clauses so you better understand the situation.

A contract is not limited to what a game programmer wants to, both teams can agree to do whatever they like (withing legal boundaries).

IMO, a loan might hurt a player, psychologically or physically, so I’m sure that almost all loans have termination clause. probably Milan paid a hefty penalty to Torino.

1) rebic himself said he wants to go back to frankfurt someday
2) if god forbid all wingers and st of frankfurt get injured, surely taking rebic back would be an option they’re willing to consider. maybe they would have to breach the contract and give milan their 5m back and more but the fact is rebic is their player so the ball is in their hand

Best thing about this team is NOT seeing that retarded suso on the pitch. Just wished he would take turkish kebab with him. Conti and that kid calabria are unwatchable as well. Unforutnately Bona is expiring as well. This team still needs 3-4 more world class players like Ibra to be somewhat competitive. A good management team would have pre agreement with a top class coach like Guardiola right now before the season ends for next season…

lol no. like i said, hakan performs better when playing more centrally but he’s definitely not one of the best am in italy, not even close. de paul, eriksen, dybala, papu gomez, pellegrini, luis alberto, hell even fabian ruiz are all better than him

Papu Gomez and Dybala are classic SS ! Fabian Ruiz and Pellegrini are not pure AM, Eriksen for what he played in England yes, let’s see if in Italy will also be a good player. De Paul is AM, but he didn’t convince me, for me it’s not better than Hakan !!!

lol, ss? r u having fun mate? great am are often great ss and vice versa: pele, zico, maradona, baggio, rivaldo, totti, kaka, dybala, messi etc but atalanta use 3-4-1-2 and juve use 4-3-1-2 and papu and dybala fill that “1” role therefore not only are they am, theyre also 3/4isti like totti and zidane/kaka before them. in short, classic ss my ass.

Ibra is 3,5 mil, Piatek was 40 mil, who is the better player ? Prices are something subjective, don’t reflect the reality every time ! I don’t know if De Paul at Milan will play wow. He doesn’t impress too much at Udine where he is supposed to be the best player, let’s be serious ! Hakan played in every position at midfield except his best one and still showed his qualities ! I am for renewing his contract anytime than for spending money for De Paul !

So, let’s make a summary ! Pioli is a very good coach because he is courageous, he knows a lot of tactics, he is very elastic regarding his tactics, starters, reserves and youth players ! Gattuso would have never sent on the pitch Gabbia, he must have sent instead Calabria or Kessie, because he has no courage ! Rebic is a must have, is a beast, a wonderful second striker and we should buy him ! We live better times with Ibra and without Suso and Piatek ! Is still way too early, but I ask the blog, if Pioli manages to reach 5th by the end of the season, and do it with eye catching performances, should he be considered for 20-21?

Allegri’s manager suggested that he wants Premier, and in Italy, there are not enough man who can take us to the next level.

What should Milan do? Pull a Gattuso-Giampaolo again?

nick

If Pioli finishes 5th then it’s only fair that Milan keep him to upgrade the team for next season. However, there are reports that there is a pre-contract agreement with penalties to sign Ralf Rangnick.

So it’s possible Pioli will be gone regardless if the rumors are true or Milan will have to pay a percentage to Rangnick if Pioli stays.

As for Allegri, if Milan finish outside of 5th place we should definitely go for Allegri.

Milan10

In our situation, options are very limited. If Pioli works good with this group of players, there are some signs, then probably he might be the right choice for next season. I am not against him, looking at why might be his replacement.
Changing coaches and players frequently has proved to be ineffective for us so far.
I don’t have any high hopes for any big name without CL though.

nick

Yes, Pioli is improving the squad and if we finish 5th then he should stay. Not a fan of having Rangnick but I like his style and scouting of young talents.

But for me Allegri is needed because he’s a top coach who can compose the squad with balancing youth and experience.

With 4-5 quality signings I believe Allegri would do better than Pioli in the long run.

No! We should not keep that clown Pioli. He is at his best just a mid table team manager. To be among top 4 you need to have a clear vision and DEMAND the players and tools you need for it. No coach can take these bunch of players to a top 3/4 finish. We just don’t have the experience and world class players we need. Who was the playmaker ? Papu Gomez ? NO, Papu Gomez was SS acting more on the left wing, Pasalic played a kind of AM ! Sometimes Papu plays behind Ilicic and Zapata, but in a more advanced position, also like a SS or on the left wing ! Maybe for you he is AM, for me he isn’t !

IN my humble opinion, AMC, LW, RW, and SS are all the same position. it depends on which part of the pitch the player is at a certain moment. if you’re good, it doesn’t matter where you are placed, you should be able to perform in any of the positions. best example, messi.

Chris

@duarte: agree, but to find “good enough” player is not easy, cause it also depend on his versatility, for ex: Samu played rather bad at SS but now quite good at RW 😀

sweet baby jeebus, not this ‘positions and formations dont matter’ again. just because total footballers like rijkaard, gullit and messi can play in many positions doesnt mean just about any player can pull it off too. dont hakan disastrous spell as lw or kessie as attacking cm teach u anything? or how classic #9 always failed to spearhead milan’s 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3, but complete st like ibra is doing great?

AMC are pivots, they need to keep the ball closely to it’s feet, keep possession and had good vision for key passes Wingers need to be fast, traditional wingers should also be great crossers, example, Theo. Inverted wingers like Callejon are great at long shots and they must know how to curve the ball. SS, Should be a tireless player, one who runs like crazy and can lead the counter attack, they must be fast and have solid passing skills. Those are generally fast dribblers. Wingers: Castillejo, Rebic Am paqueta, Bona, Hakan Trequartista none, the role can be implemented in… Read more »

Talking about formations Pioli is a very smart guy, he understand that being unpredictable is the key. 4231, 4411, 433, 442. The system changes according the situation. Milan has a lot of attacking players each adds something unique, Pioli is getting the best of some. And it’s tough for teams to decipher how to stop us, and if they know how to do it, our left flank can pass through raw force. Sometimes Milan play a free role perfectly, Romagonli high on the midfield Hakan switching to the left, Rebic playing more central. I like this approach but continuity is… Read more »
