Alexis Saelemaekers has given his first interview as a Milan player, saying ‘having been brought here is a fantastic opportunity for me’.
The 20-year-old arrived in Milan on the last day of the January transfer market on loan with option to buy from Anderlecht.
Saelemaekers is a versatile player who will most likely cover for Samu Castillejo in the role of the right midfielder, but he can also play as a fullback. Speaking to MilanTV, the Belgian said:

How did it feel when you heard the club was interested in you?
“It’s a great honor, I’ve always considered Milan to be a legendary club, a club I dreamt of playing for. Having been brought here is a fantastic opportunity for me.”
Is there a former Milan player who inspired you?
“Of course, I think Zlatan Ibrahimović is an inspiration as a player and a person. His mentality and hunger to win are incredible, I really look up to him.”
What are your objectives at Milan?
“My objectives are clear: to do my best for this club every day, in training and in game, to prove to the team how determined I am to help the club.”
How excited are you about playing at San Siro?
“I think it will be a beautiful moment for me. Just the thought of walking out onto the field of San Siro, in front of all those fans, gives me goosebumps.”
