Samu Castillejo said ‘we finally won’ after the Diavolo beat Cagliari 2-0 today.
Milan picked up three points today as they beat Rolando Maran’s Cagliari. The Rossoneri of coach Stefano Pioli took the field with a new formation, ditching the 4-3-3 in favor of a 4-4-2.
Rafael Leão (46′) and Zlatan Ibrahimović (64′) played up front and scored the goals, while Samu Castillejo played the full game in the role of the right wide-midfielder. The ex-Villarreal man had a good performance and did not make the fans miss Suso, who was benched.
“We’ve finally won, in an away game which is always difficult. It is always difficult to win away in Italy, in Serie A… it’s really difficult. We finally won, and Ibra has scored for Milan again, so everything went well today,” Castillejo said in an interview with MilanTV after the game.
“The change from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2? I believe that the formation in modern football doesn’t make much difference, the players’ mentality is more important and what the coach wants us to do. Today, aside from whether we played well or not, we played as a strong team, a team with heart and soul, and that is what really matters.
“Ibra? He is an incredible player, he will give us a lot on and off the field. He is a Champion, he has that winning mentality and that will help us all improve our levels.”
