Stefano Pioli tested some things in training today and it’s possible a three-man defense is deployed against Juve.
Milan’s season has been one big disaster so far and on Sunday night they have a chance to cause a major upset as they take on league leaders Juventus.
The Rossoneri are clear underdogs and very few people believe that they can actually get points from Allianz Stadium.
As reported by Peppe Di Stefano and on the website of Sky, coach Pioli tried an interesting tactical solution in today’s training. Pioli tested a three-man defense with Ricardo Rodríguez returning to the line-up in a center-back position, alongside Alessio Romagnoli and Léo Duarte.
Andrea Conti and Theo Hernández would act as wingbacks with Ismaël Bennacer and one of Lucas Paquetá and Rade Krunić in central midfield. The attack should be unchanged, with Suso – who returned from injury – and Hakan Çalhanoğlu playing just behind Krzysztof Piątek. Rafael Leão, who disappointed off the bench against Lazio, would therefore start on the bench again.
It’s still possible of course that the usual 4-3-3 will be seen against Juventus, but Pioli seems to be thinking of solutions to try to surprise the Bianconeri and perhaps steal a point from Maurizio Sarri.
Possible XI vs Juve (3-4-2-1) – Stefano Pioli
Gianluigi Donnarumma; Léo Duarte, Alessio Romagnoli, Ricardo Rodríguez; Andrea Conti, Ismaël Bennacer, Lucas Paquetá, Theo Hernández; Suso, Hakan Çalhanoğlu; Krzysztof Piątek.
