Vladimir Petković has spoken about Serie A, Ricardo Rodríguez and Pioli.
Vladimir Petković coached Lazio from 2012 to 2014, before taking a job as the head coach of the Switzerland NT.
“This year’s Serie A is more exciting, watch out for Inter: they’ve entered the race with Juventus and Napoli. They can do well,” the 56-year-old Petković said in an interview with Tuttomercatoweb.com.
Juventus are always favorites?
“Winning helps to win. Juventus have won everything in the last 7-8 years, they have an important squad. Yes, they remain the favorites.”
Tonight the Bianconeri will play against Bologna. Siniša Mihajlović has shown extraordinary strength.
“I wish Siniša all the good possible. Football is a game, life had serious difficulties. Siniša has great character, a real strength. What he is doing is extraordinary, really. As for the game, after the international break there can be some surprises. You always have to play at your best.”
What about my ex Lazio?
“They are doing well. With a little more consistency they can fight for the first four places. The right is open, Lazio are also there, as well as Atalanta.”
It’s an important year for Atalanta…
“Yes, but also difficult. Because Atalanta are not used to fighting at these levels. They’re a great team, with a beautiful game.”
At Milan, Ricardo Rodríguez, who in the national team is one of the protagonists, shines too little…
“He can and he will do more. But the circumstances must be favorable. He is a sensitive player and problems with him must be tackled in a delicate way. He needs to be involved. He’s always done well for the national team, I’m confident. He’ll also prove his worth at Milan.”
The Rossoneri sacked Giampaolo. In his place there’s Pioli…
“It’s a shame, really. When a coach is sacked, I’m always sorry. Every aspect should be evaluated when taking a coach. I’m sorry for Giampaolo. I wish Pioli all the best, he has the material to do well.”
And you, Mister? After the national team do you think of returning to a club?
“In the national team I’m having a wonderful experience. I watch a lot of matches. We have built a nice project with young players. Today I’m thinking of November, winning games and doing well with the national team. In the future, however, who knows… if something intriguing came I would think about it. From the outside, I look at all of Italy, I like the league. We’ll see…”
RR is a good defender, its just that we want a good overlapping attacker. So why didnt Maldini sello him and keep laxalt?
