Pepe Reina’s father did not confirm nor deny the rumours about Real Madrid, but claimed Pepe is happy at Milan.
Reina has a contract with Milan for two more seasons, but during the summer transfer market, which closes tonight, there were talks about Real Madrid being interested in the 37-year-old.
Real ended up signing Paris Saint-Germain’s Alphonse Areola in exchange for Keylor Navas, and Pepe will be staying at Milan. Today the player was at La Madonnina clinic for a check-up regarding his physical condition, as he’s just returned from an injury, and his father Miguel spoke to the press:
“What was going on between Pepe and Real Madrid? Out of respect, I can’t give you much explanations. I was outside of those discussions. The player and the club know the truth. Pepe is very happy in Milano,” he told Milannews.it
“What is his relationship with Donnarumma? He has a teammate who is a great goalkeeper. In sport nothing is given to you, you have to work day after day. Pepe is a born worker, I hope that in the long run he can have his reward.
“If Milan will be Pepe’s last club? For him it would be fantastic. Playing for Milan is fantastic for him, he’s at a club that was 7 times champions of Europe. He’s 100% satisfied.”
