Maldini and Boban to fly to Madrid next week to meet Real and to try to define the Correa transfer with Atlético

Zvonimir Boban and Paolo Maldini are expected in the Spanish capital next week to talk with both Madrid clubs.

The transfer market will shut down in 9 days and so next week is the final one of the summer mercato and the Rossoneri still have some business to finish.

So far, Milan have said goodbye to Cristian Zapata, Ignazio Andrea Bertolacci, Josè Mauri, Riccardo Montolivo, Tiémoué Bakayoko, Patrick Cutrone and Ivan Strinić. In addition, they’ve brought in Theo Hernández, Léo Duarte, Rade Krunić, Ismaël Bennacer and Rafael Leão. Some more exits and signings are expected, with the dream arrival remaining Ángel Correa.

“Milan want Correa at all costs. He is the identified player, they all fell in love with him. One also feels the need to have a player with his characteristics. The feeling is that in the end Milan will manage to catch him,” Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio said during Calciomercato – L’originale last night.

As reported by Milannews.it’s Pietro Mazzara and by others, it has been confirmed that at the start of next week, Milan Chief Football Officer Zvonimir Boban and Technical Director Paolo Maldini will fly to Madrid. The reason is to meet Atlético Madrid in order to try to define the transfer of Correa; the gap between the Rossoneri and Los Colchoneros remains and must be bridged.

Another meeting that will take place is with Real Madrid. It’s still not clear what the two sides will talk about, as the meeting was scheduled a while ago. It’s possible that the Los Blancos and il Diavolo will negotiate for Pepe Reina as Real are interested in the goalkeeper as a replacement for Keylor Navas (who is heading to Paris Saint-Germain), as reported by AS and others in the last days.

The next week should be very interesting for Milan, who want to complete the squad of coach Marco Giampaolo. Correa was and remains the number one target, and they’ll try to get him.

Even though the market is quite inflated, I am not sure if he is worth €50M. In most cases, a player with this high valuation is a regular starter or has many other suitors. I trust Boban and Maldini’s insight and I am sure they know what they are doing. I hope this deal doesn’t become a burden for us in future.

Hopefully this Correa deal gets sorted, we can’t waste more time. It’s unlikely but I hope we get one more signing, our team isn’t good enough. There were Mariano Diaz rumors earlier this window, I hope there’s no substance to them. We need one more quality signing, won’t happen but James Rodriguez would be special. I’m expecting a very difficult season unless somehow Maldini and Boban pull off something special.

@El92 . I agree with you . I hope we can seal this deal. All the top four clubs that made it to champions league have incredibly strengthened up their squad. Inter is still planning to get Alex Sanchez on loan. We have gotten promising players as well but we need complementary players right now to make any impact. To find a place among the top four is looking like an elephant who wants to pass through the eye of a needle.

I think Boban is pursuing Modric, while Milan and Monaco are trully negotiating for Kessie behind the curtain.

Sporting would like to have Silva but only on loan. Portoguese always had high potential players in their rooster, maybe Milan should take a look.

Then they are one forward short, Llorente is available on free and would give much needed experience to the team.

I get why they want correa upfront but this transfer saga is really beyond riddiculous, by mid to late july i was allready starting to contemplate if i should quit following the transfer market this year and just wait and see who we might endup with on the final day of the window. Still same bs and here we are again for the 120th time. Hopefully we will sign him but at this point im starting to wait for an excuse that we was targeting mr x and ended up with silva staying. Time to strike a deal or start… Read more »

Not sure what to make of this news. I get that some deals will take longer to close but this is beyond ridiculous. Milan is still lacking a world class player. It would make sense for Milan to move for James Rodriguez in addition to Correa. We are also needing another top class striker who is capable of scoring 20+ goals per season. We cannot depend only on Piatek. In my opinion Milan should close the deal on Correa but also sign James Rodriguez and Icardi. We need some champions to bring this team to the next level to compete… Read more »

man you just keep naming people. how would you place them all together. Icardi and Piatek are same type of player, how would you field them when both have to be upfront waiting for the pass to score with a one-touch? and James could potentially play as CM but idk. your listing has no balance and no economic logic.

Who said they would play together? Does Milan have any striker currently that can compete with Piatek or replace him if his form dips or if he gets injured?

Milan has always had top quality strikers in rotation, Marco Van Basten, Gulitt, Papin, Pietro Paolo Virdis and Daniel Massaro.

Weah, Marco Simone, Dejan Savićević, Daniel Massaro.

Shevchenko, Inzaghi, Crespo and Jon Dahl Tomasson.

Who does Milan have currently as strikers, Piatek, Leo and Borini? Andre Silva will be sold. Does that look like enough quality for this season?

Milan can sign both Icardi and James on loan with an obligation to buy.

Nick, I have to agree with you on this one. I honestly think that Milan’s management is thinking of James and Icardi on loan, as well as Correa from Atletico. It’s the only operations that make sense at the 11th hour of the mercato, and if you ask me; the only signings that would make us legitimate contenders for the title.
