Patrick Cutrone spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport and Sky Italia about his experience so far at Wolves.
It’s been three weeks since Cutrone said goodbye to his Milan teammates and joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on a permanent transfer for €18m + bonuses.
Patrick has already played some games and made some assists, while Milan have moved on as well – signing Portuguese striker Rafael Leão to replace him.
Cutrone gave interviews to La Gazzetta dello Sport and Sky Italia to give his initial moments on life at Wolves and to talk about leaving Milan.
“First impressions? Excellent. I was very well-received. I have already settled in, I didn’t like living in a hotel and I’ve found a house where these days I’m hosting my best friend, Andrea,” Cutrone told GdS. “How’s my English? No bad, I’m not starting from scratch but of course I have to improve. What language does Nuno speak consider seven Wolves players are Portuguese? English, naturally.
“If I expected the standing ovation I received from the Wolves fans when I entered the pitch against Leicester on Matchday 1? I was pleased and somehow also surprised. I’ve just arrived but they’re treating me very well. The Premier League affect? The atmosphere is really fantastic.
“I was curious about experiencing this climate first hand and I must say that what is said in the world in true: the English league has something special about it. The upcoming games against Torino in the Europa League play-off stage? It will be hard. Torino are strong. There are several affinities between us and them: passionate fans, character, pride and a sense of belonging.
“Young Italians are forced to emigrate to find space, with me at Wolves and Moise Kean at Everton? It’s always the same story: foreigners are preferred to us. For us twenty-somethings, it’s hard, but in any case I’d like to emphasize something: I’ll always be grateful to Milan for what they gave me.
“Roberto Mancini said that it’s a pity that Italian talents are forced to move abroad? He’s right. But as far as I’m concerned, I’ll try not to be forgotten and not to disappear from his radar. If Juventus are still above the others in Italy? Juve comes off eight league titles in a row and every year they move on the mercato to become even stronger. It’s always hard for the opponents.
“The first substantial difference I noticed in English football? In here there is an incredible work ethic. The commitment concerns everyone and at all levels. There is no question about professionalism. Then there’s the rest: the beauty of the stadiums, the enthusiasm of the fans, the history, the first pace of the matches, the world-class opponents.
“What am I looking for in this challenge? Every experience improves human beings, but not all experiences are the same. It would be an unforgivable mistake to have the chance to play in the Premier League and not use it properly. As I said when I introduced myself to the fans, I will give my best to show that I can stand up to this stage with dignity. The setting is excellent, the coach is very prepared, the team wants to do well and I want to pass this exam with full marks.”
Speaking to Sky, Cutrone said: “It’s great to play in this stadium, for these fans. There’s a really nice atmosphere and it makes you feel at home. My teammates welcomed me from the beginning and the coach, together with the staff, welcomed me well. I thank them. I’ll give my all for this team.
“Nuno? He made a very good impression on me, considering that I’ve only been here for three weeks. We talked and we know that everything is new for me here, the league is different from the Italian one and so I have to get used to it, little by little. I’ll certainly be at the disposal of the coach and the team.
“Accepting the move to Wolves? In addition to the Europa League, there are other factors that made me make this choice, such as the importance of playing in such a prestigious league such as the Premier League, or playing for this important team. There were many factors that made me make this choice.
“Milan? I had been playing there since I was eight years old, I love and I have always loved Milan and I thank them for what I’ve become both on and off the pitch. I’ll always be a Milan fan, then in football you have to make choices and I’m happy to be in this team now.
“The Europa League debut and the acclamation of the fans? Let’s say that I’d already played the Europa League with Milan, I was more than anything excited because it was the first home game, and it was fantastic. It’s always nice to hear your name from the stands and I hope the fans will continue to sing my name.
“Objectives? As far as I’m concerned, the best possible in Europa, in the league and in other competitions. From a personal point of view, I want to help my teammates and make as many goals and assists as possible.”

If current management was in office 20 years ago, we would have sold players like Ambrosini to other teams. Some players might not be Superstars but they give it all for their beloved club. We scored 3 goals in pre season (As I remember. I could be wrong) so I hope selling a young Italian striker with high average goal ratio only for 18m, does not backfire because believe me even a legend like Maldini would be destroyed if we can’t score & win.
Cutrone wish you all the success in England but in my opinion you had you chances he’s Type of inzaqi ,Nestoroy ,viri no skills , dribbling , speed , positioning just normal player one thing good about him he’s hard working player but he will never be a Milan Number 9

I’m not glad Cutrone left too but however, Cutrone, I’ll like you to look around in wolves dressing room and tell me how many of their players are English ?? If you don’t understand that soccer knows no nationality by now then you need to grow up. I’m tired of Italians always saying shit like this and that’s why English league and Spanish league are all grossing more money than Italian league so far. I wonder if you will have the same tune if piatek continues to not score and if leao proves to be a flop. Cutrone when given real chances to play showed he was a great goal scorer. He is pippos true heir. He doesn’t need the skill of a van n, or Henry. He just needs good link up play, which he has, great tactical sense when making runs, which he has, and a eye for goal despite not even being a starter, which he has. Milan couldve kept cutrone AND bakayoko by selling biglia, laxalt, andre silva, castillejo, borivaldo, and not buying krunic. Damn shame
Sad that most fans can’t see mistakes untill it too late. I was a Rino fan because he is everything I like about Milan but after 4 games I understood that he doesn’t have any special talent as a coach. Took most fans 12 month and 10000 thumb down to get there (some of the still not there). I hope somehow we get to UCL. Maybe this sad cycle ends there.
