Samu Castillejo’s agent, Manuel Garcia Quilon, has stated the players are happy with the arrival of Marco Giampaolo and said his client can play in any role.
Milan continue to chase Ángel Correa of Atlético Madrid and have also signed Rafael Leão from Lille this summer. But in pre-season, the partner of Krzysztof Piątek has always been Samu Castillejo.
Castillejo has played as a second striker in Marco Giampaolo’s 4-3-1-2 and even scored against Man United. With Milan struggling to sell André Silva there were rumours that Samu could be sacrificed instead, but his agent makes it clear that Castillejo does not want to go.
“Giampaolo is doing a great job. He has a modern football philosophy. I like him a lot, I know the players are very happy with his arrival,” Manuel Garcia Quilon said to Calciomercato.it.
“If I see Castillejo well in the 4-3-1-2 of Giampaolo? Strong players with great technique like Samu can play in any scheme. He knows how to move on the wings, between the lines, as a second striker… from midfield upwards – he is useful in any position. His technical level allows him to do so, the more Giampaolo knows him the happier he will be.
“If we will not consider any offer to leave Milan? Absolutely not. Castillejo is very happy at Milan, he has great motivation for this new season. His performance last year was positive considering the minutes played, both in terms of the development of his game and in terms of goals: in 1000 minutes in Serie A, he scored four goals. When he plays 3000, he will score more than 10 – excellent numbers for an attacking winger who, I repeat, can also be used as a forward and a trequartista.”
