Theo Hernandez the best, Biglia good game, Gabbia very good in defence, Piatek was a ghost, almost the same Castillejo, Maldini is still too young for such games, Strinic was from another planet. But, Milan played good without Romagnoli, Suso, Kessie, Paqueta, Bennacer, Krunic, Jack, etc. The game will be different when we will rely on the entire players.

“Maldini too young for such games” Lol when do you expect a prospect to play if not games like this?

I meant he is not ready for the hard games, he can play in friendlies, but he is not ready for serie A ! It’s the same ME who said Gabbia is ready for the first team and Tiago Djalo not !! So, you should think twice when talking about my words !

Hello, Djalo is actually better than Gabbia in every way. He is so good, it’s scary. It’s strange that Gabbia is promoted and not Djalo. In the end I think it will work out for Djalo because he is so good that I’m sure that he would get significant games wherever he goes especially in Serie B. Just like Hernandez could be the best LB, Djalo has the potential to be the best CB in the world. If he won’t be given a chance in the first team, then I hope he leaves this summer.

Horrible performance but we shouldn’t worry as we had a decimated squad against Bayern. Giampaolo refused to talk about the negative signs Milan showed, the team wasn’t compact or organized, set pieces still looks horrible to make things worst it looked like the team had 5 bertolaccis next to 5 Polis, all headless chickens. But considering also that almost everyone is playing on a new spot in the pitch is understandable. The coach and players must put this cup behind and continue to work hard, next season begins very soon and we need the right mentality. Giampaolo’s idea and tactics… Read more »

Couldn’t watch the match unfortunately, but really upset about Hernandez’s injury. These matches are very little indication otherwise. But something elsr caught me in your comment- Suddenly Giampaolo is the best tactician in Italy? In a league that has Conti, Allegri (well, last season), Sarri, Anchelotti, ect … Really? How did we get so delusional ? Is it the years of the torture and pain? (I’m “picking” on you Raven because you seem to be relatively balanced in your comments; others are much worse) I’m sorry to say but for me our squad (players and coach) are right now worth… Read more »

The team and the coach are together for 2 weeks only. 2 weeks since their introduction.

Exactly. Bayern Munich are miles ahead of us in their match fitness as they are preparing for the DFL SuperCup Final against Dortmund on Aug 3rd. So I don’t understand why anyone would expect Milan to win or match them on the pitch.

Our team has only been training for 2weeks but yet we created chances against them to draw the game with a “makeshift” squad and already people are attacking our team and coach. Good grief! Unbelievable

Balanced?Did you even read ravens comment? Lol.We tested a totally new system with a mixture of second choice players, and academy players against bayern, with our new coach and our fitness being half way ready,I really dont think dont think anyone has any real argument against or for the team at this point.we can only really look at positives in this TEST.Its just freaken pre season. Why are yall acting like you dont know football.Damn what have Milan fans become

@BaresisDream, Honestly I feel the same as you do, I’m expecting a rough season like 6th or 7th by May 2020. But let’s keep quiet as an angry mob might hang us.

All hail Giampaolo and his pleasing football, Piatek will score 35 goals and Donnarumma will make 2 cleen sheets and allow 60 goals forcing him to leave. But hey, what matters is the appealing football. That’s our DNA

I think you watched the game from the back of your TV set bro. On a good day under the previous managements since the departure of Allegri, that Bayern team was expected to beat Milan full squad hands down. Can you see the likes of strinic who does not have playing time last season, The young gabbia, Theo, etc. Despite the few weeks training you can pick a whole lot of positivity from the 1-0 loss. We would have even get an equaliser if not for crutone that missed a seater.

@BaresisDream come on pal, I’m the guy who doesn’t believe anything until the results are there, I said might, like in the best case scenario. I was trying to explain that tactics alone cannot do it, squad management and being a motivator is part of the job and we don’t know if Giampaolo can do it. @Ted, I already made my point, and your considerations are explained in my post, but let’s not say it was a nice performance like Giampaolo said. @Nick there is no point in arguing with you, you can’t judge with your common sense, you are… Read more »

I would add Calabria and Theo to Gabbia, Biglia and Çalhanoglu. I know you coudn’t see much of Theo playing, but he was amazing. On Calabria, that left flank of Bayern is terrifying and he was perfect, basically nullifying Coman, Alaba and the other fella (forgot his name). Hakan helped there too – but I think that’s sacrificing our only creative midfielder and since the end of last season, our most dangerous player going forward. Hakan HAS the have a chance to play his natural position, as trequartista! Other than that, yes, everyone looked lost. But most of those guys… Read more »

Hernandez n Gabbia was awesome..wow….. Bayern played with most of their main players but Milan played almost with their bench, that’s why i wanna say it’s a very good result for Milan…. I request to my dear Maldini–” Plz don’t sell Crutone”….in next 2/3 yrs he will be in the list of top 3 scorers in Europe….with Hernandez, Banacer, Krunic, Correa n 1/2 more addition Milan will be in the track to get its glory back….. Thanks again dear Maldini

Gabbia has a future in Milan. Borini needs to disappear. Like asap. He’s not milan quality at all.
The team looked nervous and they weren’t transitioning from defence to attack.

But there are positives. And I am sure when we use our first eleven it will start to gel.

Any word on Theo’s injury? Hopefully it’s minor.

nick
Guest

Totally agree. Gabbia positioning and reading of the game was awesome. As for Borini and Castellijo, Milan should offload them this summer.

The latest news on Hernández injury is that it was just an ankle sprain no fractures and no ligament damage. Thank God! He will miss the match this Sunday against Benfica but more tests are to follow in the coming days. So far it doesn’t seem like he will be out for long.

Borini should stay imo, considering his versatility and the lack of money he can fetch; he’s much more useful than another 3.5 mil for transfer. Samu could definitely leave, as well as Biglia (although we have little cover in that position).

Great news about Theo’s condition Nick; I was legit worried.

Daniel
Guest

Borini might be versatile, but is awful anywhere you play him. He was killing play after play last night, misplacing short passes, missing the open men, not helping much on defense (look how Hakan was always covering for Calabria) and was actually kinda lost in regards to positioning too – which goes against the claim that he’s versatile. He was playing way too open, almost as a winger. I don’t know where to find it, but I bet that if you see the heat map of him and Çalhanoglu, you’ll see that the latter went both inside and back way… Read more »

I’ve just watched the recorded match of Fiorentina vs Empoli. Krunic and Bennacer took apart. Bennacer looked really promising as a regista, much better than Biglia. I am very optimistic about his future at Milan as regista. He has the technicality and speed, but also a fighting spirit like Gattuso. No wonder Empoli’s director said that “He is the new Gattuso”. Krunic is more like another version of Kucko. He can be an ideal deputy of Kessie.

I saw a lot of positive things from this game. Theo Hernandez was so good and he was solid defensively and in his attacking threat was amazing. He will create more chances for piatek with his runs on the wing. I’m just hoping and praying that his injury is not as bad as it looked. Our full backs were good defensively and in Attack. Really like what I saw from Calabria, Theo Hernandez and Conti even though Conti played as LB and not in his natural RB position. Giampaolo plan is to use the fullbacks in the attacking phase something… Read more »

Obviously we should never be happy about a defeat, not even in friendlies but aside of that then personally i think there was lots of positives from the part of the match i watched. I missed the first 15 minutes of the match as the sandman was about to get the better of me but luckily i watched the rest of the match. First of all put in mind that we are far behind Bayern in the startup phase and they actually played with both a far better and more gelled team than us. For me the scoreline would hv been different if the coach made changes to freshen up the team. Bayern made a lot of changes so they wre running all over d pitch especially in d 2nd half. Though we were too slow in terms of decision making but overall d team did really good in terms of tryin to pass and build up play 4rm d back, plus I love the calmness of young Maldini. He has good technique and can pass d ball well. With a little more training wt d first team, he is going to cm good.

Didn’t watch the game but I see a lot of positive comments on Gabbia. Our coach also said he is quite surprised about him and likes him.

If that is the case, then give him more playing time in the pre season to see if he has what it takes and can cover for Roma and Musa until Caldara comes back.

I don’t want them to waste money on Lovren and such

Raven

Gabbia was really good, Caldara is a couple of years ahead in strength, reading the game. Considering we also have Mussacio a loan might be good. But I’m more into having faith in him and starting him ahead Mussacio.

Ok, having now watched the game I think we looked quite decent in the 1st half, while bayern looked so-so considering their advance level of preparation. The second half Bayern dominated more, but this has a lot to do with our fitness at this stage of the season. Though we could still have looked more organized at some periods, tired or not. All and all, good first match. I also really liked Theo’s game, really good minutes scattered throughout the match. Good job. I would also like to point out Borini who looked good playing out of position. I think… Read more »

I judge Gabbia for more than a year, but now it is nothing to judge at him, he’s good for the first team !!!! We appear to be disorganized because of our improvised midfield ( Borini looked good himself but the midfield looked thinny, but you can see by the moon that his place isn’t there, Maldini is still too young to put enough pressure, but he has executions and courage, so I think a little experience at a serie B team would be great for him before starting the real job at AC Milan. That’s a strong statement about Gabbia Alexmilan; I wouldn’t know to be honest, but even 4th CB at a team like Milan needs to be solid. Let’s see. I didn’t like Biglia’s game that much to be honest. I know we are short on DMs, but still I think we should try to offload him.
