Milan in advanced negotiations with Atlético to sign Ángel Correa, the price is expected to be €40m plus bonuses

Ángel Correa will most likely be a Milan player but it remains unclear how much exactly the Rossoneri will pay.

After signing Theo Hernández, Rade Krunić and Ismaël Bennacer (who today landed in Milano and performed the medical at La Madonnina clinic), Milan are set to sign a new striker – Angel Correa.

The deal has been in the works for some days now, and according to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Italia this evening (Monday), Zvonimir Boban was in Spain yesterday and he managed to reach an agreement with Atlético Madrid for the Argentine.

Di Marzio reports that Milan have agreed to pay €40m in fixed price, plus 10m in easily attainable bonuses and €7m more in difficult bonuses. Should all bonuses be reached, the total cost of the 24-year-old Argentine would be €57m, easily making him the most expensive Milan signing ever.

Milannews.it are meanwhile reporting €40m plus €4-5m bonuses, while Pietro Balzano Prota of RadioRossonera says €38-40m and bonuses. The negotiation is at a very advanced stage and should be completed soon. The transfer would be funded in large by the sale of Andre Silva to Monaco. The striker is already in France ahead of his €30m move, which was arranged by agent Jorge Mendes.

The price for Correa seems extremely steep for a player of his stature, but the Rossoneri seem to believe that he is the right player to use alongside Krzysztof Piątek in next season’s 4-3-1-2.

Well done, we have 3 goals guaranted, 5 if he have greeeat season

Iheanyi

Lol. U are funny dude

The Big Dog

Well Said DJUKA! I love your comment!!! Milan has lost it I am afraid!

The Big Dog

Yeah, I just love the comment. haha

Ørjan .J Misund

He’s got 11 goals and 19 assist in 64 games played as second striker. His stats in this position isnt that bad

tcl00

Cannot wait for this to be completed, this is huge! With this deal we would finally have a attack to be proud of.

Assim

Looks like a done deal! Welcome Correa , hope you shine in red and black colours. Liverpool management were complaining 45M was too much for Salah , today , they wouldn’t sell him for thrice that fee. I’m optimistic , and I trust Maldini and Boban and I hope I won’t be dissapointed. For those who like stats , Fellaini scored more goals than Zidane and Iniesta! Stats can never reflect someone’s level , and being benched for Griezmann is absoluetely normal. Correa is a fighter , a warrior , he’s got Cutrone spirit , with much more speed and… Read more »

Wel our managment now can not blame FFP, for potential failure

Ashraf

What failure are u talking we sold silva and replace him Correa

Assim

I don’t agree with this. If we got Correa while under FFP restrictions , it means we could have gotten better more expensive players , like Dybala for example. And how can Milan fans complain this much about the 40M price when every player in these last mercatos is worth 50 or 60M at least , Barella 50M , WanBissaka 60M , Fred same , Lucas Hernandez 85M , even Kepa who’s not so.great goalkeeper was sold for 80M ! Now people wants Boban/Maldini’s head for spendi g 40M on a great young proven talent in Correa ! I’m no… Read more »

Dude…who are u…its been a while since i’ve seen som1 speaking my mind…most times I just skim tru comments of ppl who don’t even no shit….Mehn! I give it to u

Djuka

First we are not in situation to just like that spend 50 60 milion on one player, simply dont earn so much money as Bayern and MU, fans of Mancester are very hapy to have Fred, most expensive sub, for others time vil tel, and for other thing if is player most payed you can not expect from him to be decent, great is atlest what yuo can expect

Djuka

Ass people presenting him he is Mesi atleast, and since he is most payed player he can not be decent, gave to be great atlest

Michael

Well said

Anselm

Dybala can’t fit into our system now,he has a good technic but slow player so what we need is a player with technic, speed and hardworking SS for counter attack and also to feed our poacher…which believe Correa fit in.

The Big Dog

Well said Djuka!

Rossi

Come on bro you cant be serious with the stats, first Zidane has scored 41 goals more than Fellaini but never mind that Zidane, Inesta, Fellaini are not strikers to judge them by scored goals, Zidane and Inesta have superior stats in passing accuarcy, created chances etc stats that matter for midfilders, stats do reflect the player, you cant have good stats and be a bad player.

The Big Dog

Salahs was already Roma’s most important player with more goal stats before Liverpool splashed the cash.

Rossi

Thats right @Big Dog, but as you see many people here dont care about facts and simply hype what ever player we are related to. I dont have a problem with Correa coming but for a totall of 57mil like wtf, we can get so much better players for that amount of money. His market value is 35mil we are paying almost like double for him and he didnt even had a good season.

Benson Milan

It’s not $ 50M dude. It’s $40M. Get to the fact that we need quality players and most of the ones we linked to where non proven players. It would be too much risk. Veretout, Praet, and so on…wait for the season to kick off before you guys makes any conclusions.
Let the people who are in position of decision do their job. You all consider yourselves specialists in mercato behind your TV and computers but you don’t even know how it goes when you have to negotiate with players, agents and the selling clubs.

Rossi

“the total cost of the 24-year-old Argentine would be €57m” This is what the article above says. I agree we need quality and proven players, but think of this, Correa spent a couple of seasons under Simeone who turned so many strikers in world stars as Costa, Grizman, Carasco..if Correa didnt exploded under him do you think now at 24 he will make some dramatic improvment in Milan ? As i said i wont mind him coming but for that amount of money i would rather go for Everton who scores like 15 goals per season and proved his worth… Read more »

Fellaini hasn’t scored more goals than zizou and ini!

Yeah sorry about that I read it in some sarcastic post and thought it was real , but i think Ramos did score more goals though , and Bale for Madrid too , and yes I know goals are not everything and they are from sifrent positions I’m just trying to say that you can’t judge a player based on stats only !! And I’m not hyping the player i just find this deal understandable , people talked like we spent 150M at once ! I know we have opinions but when something is done it is done you can’t… Read more »

Nesta1

At last some pace in team, and how different will our midfield be with quick, good ball dribbling players when we been use to monty, berto, muntari and the like. Hope we get that defender from juve too he’s a beast!

alemilan

Hi im new here. Its been 2 years since im talk about our beloved. A mix feelings on this transfer. Depay would be a better signing in my view although he had a discipline issues back, he is more proven at big stages and also a powerful and technical player. On the other hand, Correa is bringing speed and agility to his game while his statistic is unsastisfying. Both players are suited to counter attacking game.

what do you guys think?

Lets take polling

Depay or Correa?

Forza Milan

Nesta1

Correa, any player can look good in france, depay comes with discipline issues and he did nothing in premiership. His workrate is questionable too, just like his temperament. Stick carrea in French league as a regular and he would get you 15 +goals a season. I’m not saying depay is a bad player and as gots lots of potential but would be risky. The games I’ve seen him play doesn’t look very fast but I think he was overweight at time says it all!

Reagan

Correa 100%..he knows how to play the high press and also very technical..if we get correa zaracho, praet and a good CB..we are good to go

Assim

Mariano was a beast if France , went back to Madrid and couldn’t even make it. Fekir a maestro in Ligue 1, no big team wanted him , went to Betis today.
I’m not saying Depay , Fekir or Mariano are bad players , i’m just saying Ligue1 is not a good reference , there are players who made it in the big stage like Monaco 2017 players , but it’s still a gamble.
And btw , Depay never proved himself on a big stage.

Agustinar

Zidane from bordeaux

godiva

Drogba from Marseille, Ronaldinho from PSG

The Big Dog

I would be gutted if Milan actually complete this signing of a player who is so average he is a reject. I am so frustrated right now because I believe he will be our most expensive flop ever. But for the sake of Milan, I hope to eat my words for once. But I am not always wrong. My analytical skills is not to be mistaken for a cliche. I remember Milan10 and a lot of people here calling me nuts when I said it plain that Silva would be a flopp. Other than that I also predicted Kalinic, Rodriguez… Read more »

EL92

Wow, after selling Silva, a useless player for 30 million, we spent 40m to get a player who’s gonna fit perfectly into our team. With Giampaolo, he’s gonna have his best season yet. 10+ goals and will continuously destroy defenses. Top signing, will be funny seeing all the people crying in the comments disappear.

The Big Dog

For Milan’s sake I really hope you are right because I believe Correa is not any better than Silva.

EL92

Wow ahahahaha you really know nothing about football

Soheil

such a great deal!
Silva: 27 games 9 goals
Correa: 36 games 3 goals
Kalinic 17 games 2 goals

believe it or not! Kalinic has better stats than him!! :))

The Big Dog

Yeah Soheil, congratulations to Milan. They just bought their biggest flop ever. Hopefully I was wrong.

Nesta1

Least he scored one more than borini, not all bad :)

dapito

you forget something, our strikers last seasons never get good ball to score… even piatek really jard to score… now we have 3 players can give.good ball….

Sexion

Correa, Paquete, Piatek cant wait to see these 3 play together. Its speed, flair and goals. Correa has alot of potential. I use to watch him play for Atletico, he is a machine. He needs to start regularly so he can unleash his full potential.

Ink

While he may add attacking flourish to the team, my question is, if we can afford to spend 40mil on an attacker, then why on earth could we not spend the money to get CMs who are more established in the game? That is a position we are thin on depth and strength. I am very pleased with Krunic and Bennacer signing. But they are not established yet. One good season. I am sure we could spend 40mil on a regista who had more than one good season. I still can’t believe this. Will only believe after it is official.… Read more »

Spot on mate.

Shadow Storm

Well with the departure of Silva we will only pay 10 mil plus bonuses for him. Since Silva is going for 30 and we pay 40 for Correa

because this move is engineered by jorge mendes,

Milanellofm

First off, people who are saying why not go for dybala or or Icardi. Those players are worth 80m and the most important demand at the very least 10m in wages. I think the price tag of Correa is a little much but I think he can compliment piatek perfectly. Him and piatek have the characteristics to really be a force in attack. Giampaolo has shown he can get the best out of players and if he does out of Correa, he can be worth double that. But yes I hope the latter of reports is true of 40m with… Read more »

Donald Yves Janvier

Ok guy his not coming to scoree goals. If we focus on what he can bring to the team he is going to be great

joseph fori

We need him to score though, last season we only had goals from Suso & Piatek. We need at least three players scoring 10+ goals a season if we are going to challenge for anything.

This season, I am expecting 20 goals plus or minus 3 goals from Piatek, 10 plus goals from the second striker and at least 5 assists & finally above seven goals from the AMF & 10+ assists

Djuka

The moust important thing in this is that this transfer had to bee done for Mendez, he sold our(his) player in team wich he control, that money we had to invest for his player so the Atletick can reinvest again that money in Mendes player Rodriguez, he is hapy he got his provision, and wewil gona see vill we be hapy : )

Ted

Like it or not Atletico’s benchwarmer will become the most expensive Milan signing in their history.

That cannot be neglected and in my opinion I would rather see them spend the amount on Everton who can easily play SS or even Fekir who was Lyon’s main man.

Still, I hope he fulfills his potential at Milan and forms a good partnership with Piatek.

Nesta1

Has fekir gone to betis? We might have missed a good signing there, and Everton said he would sign for milan. Wondering if a deal already been done with him for a club in champions league, good player. As u say hope carrea does well and improves his scoring stats!

Benson Milan

Yes he went to Betis. He didn’t want to play for Milan because he wants to showcase his talent in a team who play in Champions League and where he’s the highest paid player, plus he wants his brother to be part of the team, what and his family around

Benson Milan

Who is Fekir? This guy only played in a carbon league in France. Everton hasn’t played in Europe yet to see if he can adapt to a big team outside of Brazil. Wait and see what the player will bring, then you can draw your conclusions afterwards

Djuka

Kaka didnt play out of Brazil, Paqueta didnt…

al83

To make sound even worse, with Correa’s money, we could afford BOTH Fekir AND Everton.
Just to be clear, I am not excited about Fekir but neither of Correa as well.

dod210

Correa will prove all doubters wrong at Milan. Correa, Piatek and Paqueta combination will be awesome. Correa has speed and good dribbling skills and that will aid our counter attacks. Some of you don’t really understand the game. The main reason why we failed last season is because our build up play was too slow and predictable under Gattuso. That’s the reason why we’re are signing players that can move the ball fast this season. Rodriguez is too slow. That’s why they brought inTheo Hernandez. Milan will succeed this season

6god

Wel said brother hope will be faster this season

Peggymoney

The reason for Milan slow build up play is overrated Suso who is a ball hugger with so much ball possession yet with so little conversation rate. Gattuso just relied on Suso to do the trick. Our game became one dimensional with Suso who always camps on the right wing with little work rate. Giampaolo would regret it if he makes the same mistake like Gattuso. Suso can only really play as a winger and wouldn’t enjoy play the AM role because it requires more work ethic and running without the ball which he hates. If Paquetá, Hakan or Bennacer… Read more »

Coach Seedorf

I disagree with your theory, we want to play possession football not counter attacking football. We want to be the protagonist like Man City, Barca etc, this is Giampaolo’s task. I don’t know Korea/Japan But I hope he is worth that €57mil cos his stats doesn’t reflect that amount at all. I don’t like the idea of offloading Cutrone at all either. what happens if Piatek is off form, suspended or injured or even needs to be subbed? Who are we getting that will keep Piatek on his feet by giving him a real fight for the starting spot?

Leo

I think Correa is the right choice for dribbling in tight spaces (watch his highlights) and creating opportunities which will be his job as second striker. 40 million would be good price for him. 50m, I am not sure. Overall a good addition to our squad. Forza Milan \m/

Agustinar

I believe duo Piatek and Correa will succeed. They compliment each other

A.C. Milan 1899

That’s the point. Sinergy is something extremely important, even more than single value. Milan’s directors and coach are clearly pursuing this. If they will succeed or not, the future is ours to see.

MilanEstonia

I dont understand all the complaints? Good or Bad he’s going to be a Milanista. If we dont support him then who will? And he hasnt even started a game yet. Every deal in mercato is gamble for every team jesus. calm all your tits down.

Also, Remember the time when Salah was a flop in chelsea?

emery

As said by my fellow milanisti, i’m not against Correa coming to Milan but i’m against his price..
€57M thats a big…
But the positive is, Milan “only” pay €27M and that include bonuses for this transfer after Silva going to Monaco..
And i think its bargain..
Welcome Correa
Forza Milan!!

Terry

His characteristics fit the type of football Milan wants to play this season. Possession based football requires guys with quick feet and good dribbling ability.

Just look at our plays from midfield…we have Paqueta, Bonaventura, Suso, Krunic and if it goes through Correa. All these players have great dribbling ability.
With an attacking minded coach, we can score a lot of goals this season. And if we can shore up our backline, there is no reason why Milan won’t have a great season.

Assim

People want to sell Suso for 60M , Kessie 40M , but also want to get Everton/Depay/Correa for 30M ! If you look at other teams mercato , this deal is absoluetely fine. Cristal want to sell Zaha for 80M ! What do you expect ! Football has changed , and as far as we are conserned with FFP , nobody here knows this stuff better than Gazidis.

zahid hossain

A.Silva n A.Correa both r the clients of Jorge Mendes….we want to bring speed n agility in our attack but we fail to sell Silva….Mr.Mendes makes it easy for us…now we got speed in our Attack n Piatek will get more space n chance this season….. Overall a easy n great deal for us…..thanks a lot dear Maldini…. Carry on…good luck Milan

Baresis Dream

Top player, great buy (If indeed he’s arriving). People here are talking about his stats and price, and they are right. But he mostly had a backup role in Atleti, often playing in the wings, which can explain his not so exiting stats. I feel 40 mil is a fair price, maybe should be 35, but remember that’s around the price we payed for Silva who basically just started his football career. Again, if I were designing the team I would do things differently. But we are trying to fulfill Giampaolo’s vision as much as possible, and this is another… Read more »
