Milan and Bennacer reach an agreement over personal terms, the deal could be formally defined by Friday night

Milan and Ismaël Bennacer have worked out all the issues and the player will be joining from Empoli, Di Marzio reports.

Yesterday it was reported that Milan and Bennacer have slightly moved away from each other as the Rossoneri couldn’t agree on the salary of the 21-year-old with the representatives of the Algerian.

However, there were new contacts between the parties during Thursday and according to Gianluca Di Marzio on Sky Italia’s Calciomercato – L’originale, the situation has been unlocked.

Di Marzio claims that Milan and Bennacer’s agents have solved the problem of the salary and the player has accepted the offer of the Diavolo. The Sky reporter believes that everything could be formalized tomorrow. Milan had already agreed a €16m plus bonuses deal with Empoli last week.

It remains to be seen what Bennacer’s salary will be, the offer of Milan before today’s contacts was €1.5m plus bonuses – which is a huge increase form his current Empoli salary of €400k. In any case, the official will have to wait as Ismaël is currently in Egypt with his national team; today they beat Franck Kessié’s Ivory Coast in penalties to qualify for the African Cup of Nations semi-finals.

Di Marzio also reports that Fiorentina will meet Milan and Roma tomorrow to talk about Veretout. The Diavolo are expected to increase their offer, but still include Lucas Biglia in any possible deal.

This guy will be the signing of the season , either for us , or for the whole Serie A ! Remember my words.

He got offers from Arsenal and Dortmund but decided to wear Red&Black , that’s the type of players i’d like to see in Milan !

Forza Bennacer , Forza Milan.

Finally. Very good news. I’ve been watching Bennacer in the AFCON tournament and this guy is really good. Despite what most people think Milan is building a more “BALANCED” team than Inter.

If Milan get a good center back like upamecano from Leipzig then I won’t be surprised if we finish better than them even with Conte who will be under immense pressure. Mark my words.

I hear about bringing that cb in but is it necessary while we have caldara? Caldara last year was unlucky with injuries but the year before that was so highly rated and was one of the best cb’s in the league. He was supposed to pair with romagnoli for the long run so why risk that now? Roma, caldara and musacchio is solid. Sure we need another but our big spending should be for the mid

Conti was highly rated as well. But injuries change players. Two years in a row with injuries for Caldara, how can you be so sure that it won’t be a further three? Can we be sure that after his return he would be the defender that we think he is? Too many if’s. So we should go for another one class CB. Three first team quality CBs would give Giampaolo the option to try out formations with 3 in the back as well. So its a win-win. But yeah, Caldara is really talented. The guy can read games really good.

Wishful thinking mate. Bennacer is talented, and if the reported price is correct, then it looks like the best deal we made yet in this window. But if you look at the players Inter are throwing away (Icardi, Niangolan), and the players we are targeting, you would see that the gap between us is increasing. “Balanced” team you say? What does that mean? Sounds like some excuse Galliani would throw at the fans once Silvio was inclined to spend more money. Many of your words have been marked, and god knows I hope you are right. But I currently don’t… Read more »

@’Baresis Dream, you are one of the few persons I look forward to reading there comments. But in this one, I disagree with you. Nick has a point when he talked about BALANCE. Inter may be discarding icardi and raja to get who? Barella and dzeko/lukaku. There are two things I would like to point out here; you see no club will icardi and raja after there attitude disrupted the team’s progress, secondly, I really don’t think that here’ll a is better than Benacer, just that he’s Italian, for lukaku he may a good player but does he have football… Read more »

@O’Gabb’s…Exactly. Thanks for making that point. Atalanta finished ahead of inter and Milan not because they have world class players but because their team is more “BALANCED” and cohesive. The players compliment each other and they work well as a unit. We saw the same thing with Ajax and Borussia Dortmund. Milan are assembling a team that works well as a unit. Good ball handling skills and dribbling technique. If Giampaolo get the desired players that he wants regardless if they are from smaller teams, with a well drilled tactics and gameplan we will do much better than last season… Read more »

I totally agree with your assessment Nick, but Inter shouldn’t be the team from which we gauge our success next season, no sir. It’s the champions of Italy that we have to measure against. I get the whole Milan rivalry thing but Juve won eight in a row and there’s no better time to derail this nightmare of a train called Juventus. So,yeah, I totally agree that if Giampaolo gets the players he desires most( which looks to be the case at this moment ) ,and can have them well drilled in his tactical gameplan then we can do much… Read more »

Thanks for the compliment, O’Gabbs. I don’t disagree with why Inter is getting rid of Icardi/Niangolan, I was just pointing at the different level of players in the discussion. Barella was one of the best cm in the league last year (none of the names we are considering even came close), and Lukaku is a beast. Regarding the “balanced team” argument- for your case study of last season’s Atalanta, I reply with Barca/Real of last 10-12 seasons – to (consistingly, with good chances) succeed, you need the best players. It’s quite simple actually. Don’t look at fluke flash-in-the-pans success stories… Read more »

top 4 definitely my dude. Juve, Napoli and Inter only outdo us on the paper but no one knows how the season will end. Inter have fullback problem, Handanovic who is brilliant still isn’t getting any younger and Lukaku is a big question mark. Can they sign him and if they manage somehow will he return to his old form? all of us expected good things from Higuain but he flopped so let’s see. Inter has amazing CBs and CMs, but they still need to do a lot of things to consider their Mercato a successful one.

You guys keep busy on comparing milan to Inter. Self-proclaim that Milan’s signing is better while Inter really dont bother with Milan. Inter is only focusing on reducing the gap and beating Juve in the league. It already show different level of Inter and Milan now.
Indeed, no one knows. Anything can happen. Milan can won serie a? Maybe yes maybe no. But mindset at the beginning matters.
Juve is looking at winning ucl.
Inter is looking at ending juve domonation in serie a.
While Milan is looking to enter ucl.
Open you eyes.

I would like to ask the forum: What do you guys think about a Pato return?
Milan under a 4-3-1-2 system will probably require 4 strikers to rotate.
Pato’s price won’t be expensive and he has Serie A experience.

What do you guys think?

Definitely No to Pato. He’s finished. None of the clubs in Europe want him. The Brazilian National team didn’t even call him up for the Copa America. Sad to say but his career is pretty much going downhill from here.

Milan should still get Everton Soares and get rid of Suso, Castellijo and Andre Silva. I don’t see how Suso will fit into Giampaolo’s formation and tactics since he doesn’t use wingers.

The players Milan should offload are Laxalt, Biglia, Castellijo and Suso.

They let Zapata go just so they can splash for a player like Lovren/Pezzella/Nastasic. Not an upgrade just a waste. Upamecano will cost 30-35 millions according to Leipzig. Better they sign Mancini from Atalanta. They should give Milan a big fat discount since they let them play their home CL games on San Siro. I still wanna see Caldara’s full season pairing Romagnoli.

I’m still missing a regista (additionally to Bennacer) and another SS. Splash on that

Zapata wanted more than a 1yr extension and Milan refused to extend his contract for more than a year especially given his high salary and age. That’s why they let him go.

Caldara will not be available until around December/January so we will need another CB. I’m not in favor of Milan signing Lovren, Pezzella or Nastasic. Mancini is not worth 35m.

Milan should get either Upamecano or Kevin Bonifazi.

Torino showed interest for Laxalt maybe they can work something out for Bonifazi. I’m a bit dissapointed Milan did not get Kabak, he would be an immediate first teamer, something I cannot say for Bonifazi.

Andersen seems to be still available. There been no official news of him signing for Lyon and he costs as much as Lovren or Mancini

Kevin Bonifazi is more solid than Mancini in my opinion. Even though he played for Spal he was one of their best players last season and he has a lot of quality. I would take him any day ahead of Zapata who is one game away from a horrendous mistake.

Mancini would not accept our offer since UCL is his temptation

You may have forgotten that besides the field players and the coach have a great influence on the game, and the overall result at the end of the season. I think Giampaolo could be the biggest boost with his game.

Latest reports suggest Bennacer’s agents demand high comission and that is stalling the deal

high looool. we offered him 1,5M and he asks 2M. yes very high demands indeed.

For a player who is 21 years old and had just one season in serie A ( a good one ) and who earns 400 000/ year, 2 millions is a very high demand of course !

Actually , Di Marzio , and other trusted journalistes said that this is not true and that everything in fine , and the player will sign after the African Cup.

Latest news suggests that Milan offered 20m plus Cutrone for Joaquin Correa. I like Correa a lot and would love to see him at Milan but I’m on the fence about giving up cutrone. I would rather lose Suso instead. I don’t see where Suso fits into Giampaolo’s 4312 system. The sad thing is no team is making any offers for him. But I get the feeling from last season that Cutrone was making a big fuss about more playing time. Most likely Milan will either get Correa or Everton Soares to play as a 2nd striker alongside Piatek. I… Read more »

We should not get rid of cutrone under any circumstances. We all have seen how he can score when he does get proper game time. How can he get into the groove when every time he gets hot they get a new forward and bench him. They haven’t even given cutrone the same opportunity as the other forwards we have and recently had. In terms of movement I think cutrone works more off the ball and is willing to be the crosser even when he did play. And the crazy part is, we got a goal like that. We need… Read more »

I believe Suso can be a good ss ! Maybe a back up for a new commer (Everton or Correa) , otherwise , I think Suso is way better than Schik , if we let Suso go , we should either get a better SS or some huge cash , letting him go for 30M is stupidity. We all know how good he can be on his days , he won us many games on his own , and i don’t blame him for his poor form many games last year when the coach was EXTREMELY defensive minded , and… Read more »
