Mattia Caldara, Alessandro Plizzari and Matteo Gabbia have all said that they can’t wait for the new season to start.

Pre-season officially began today but not all players took part in the first training of the season: Patrick Cutrone, Diego Laxalt and Lucas Paquetá are on vacation, Franck Kessié is on international duty, Rade Krunić is following a personalized program, and Giacomo Bonaventura & Mattia Caldara are currently injured.

“I’m fine, I’m happy to be here after having a month and a half of therapy in Rome,” Caldara, who’s recovering from a knee surgery, told MilanTV. “Giamapolo? I know him because I’ve faced him so many times in Serie A. I know how he plays and I can’t wait to make myself available.”

Caldara is expected to return around October-November, and Milan are actively on the transfer market looking for another center back. At the moments, the options of Giampaolo are Mateo Musacchio, Alessio Romagnoli and Matteo Gabbia, who’s been promoted to the first team.

“The Under 20 World Cup was a unique experience, and I don’t regret anything about it,” Gabbia said to MilanTV. “I’m really happy for that experience too. The get-together? I’ve been looking forward to this day for over a week now, and I can’t wait to meet the coach and teammates.”

One of the players that were stars in the U20 World Cup is Alessandro Plizzari and he too started the new season with Milan today, although he may leave on loan. “I rested during the holidays but I was also training. I can’t wait to start, there is always something to improve and work on,” he said.
